I guess it depends on how you look at it. I would expect a larger margin. OU has a QB who is being hyped for the Heisman. UT has not named a starter to my knowledge. OU won conference in their "rebuilding" year, UT fired their HC. OU has a proven winner who has owned UT as a head coach. UT head coach was underwelming in his previous stints as a head coach. Most importantly OU D-line was pretty dominating last year and nearly everyone from thier Dline is back and the same can be said of the UT Oline. I really hope the line is wrong, but I certainly understand it. Of course any line before any games have been played is pretty much worthless.

That had to be tough to turn down when you realize he could get the $68 million and be back coaching college in four years when the Lions fire him

For some reason...even though I know it is beating a dead dog (horse?)....the first thing I thought of was..
"..and he and his buddy Colt McCoy were about to give Crimson Tide a school lesson in the 09-10 National Championship if not for...."

Paul Finebaum calls Texas irrelevant and pathetic

I got to say I generally respect Finebaum but he is way off base here. He says Texas is way, way behind aggie because it is playing for third best in the Big 12 every year.

In what universe is Texas behind aggie?? Aggie has never been to the CFP playoff. Hasn't played in a New Years 6 bowl since 2012 (Texas 2018). Has not won a conference title since 1998 (Texas 2009) and has not played for a conference title since 1998 (Texas 2018). In the SEC it is usually playing for 4th or 5th best behind Alabama, LSU, Georgia, and Florida. He is just way off base here.

If Texas is irrelevant so is aggie and so is Michigan and Penn State because they are behind Ohio State in the B1G and have never been to a CFP game. So is USC behind Washington and Oregon and no CFP games. Florida and Auburn are irrelevant with no CFP games and behind Bama, LSU, and Georgia in the SEC.

Unfortunately he is not wrong about us being behind Oklahoma and about Texas having too many influential donors. Otherwise his statements are garbage.

Finebaum is a joke. If we were in the SEC he'd be saying watch out for the return of this blueblood program. I ignore every word out of his mouth.

Firstly, A&M basically had the easiest SOS in the conference in 2020 and reaped the benefits of that. They got their **** pushed in by Alabama as expected, and they toyed around with the bottom 3 of the SEC East in a down year, and because of their conference, they "earned" that #4 final rank.

The funny thing is that we'd basically be even with A&M since they bolted. They would have beat us in 2012-13 with Johnny, but we would have had a nice 2017-2019 run against them. Even if we would were 4-5 against them since the conference imploded, which is generous towards A&M, they'd still be exactly what they are right now. A middling spoiler of a program that no one takes seriously. And I'd readily admit that's what Texas has been since 2009 as well.

Paul Finebaum strikes me as being a sad little man who desperately seeks relevance, and who attempts to enhance his stature by tearing others down. ESPN caters to such individuals.

His comments about Texas lack a basis in reality. It is his “wish” that Texas not be relevant because once we rejoin the elite of the college football world — and I think it just might happen in 2021 — we will become a serious threat to his gravy train, the SEC. Without it, he has no relevance.

Consider this: While wallowing through the desert for a decade in mediocrity, Texas has still dominated the financial landscape. What’s going to happen when we start winning again?

Unpleasant reminder. UT is 2 and 7 v TCU since TCU joined the conference. People like Finebaum are going to talk smack.

All I know is... 'tis the season for the perennial obsession with tearing down UTs football program by talking heads, would-be recruits, opponents, and social media divas.
A consistent but truly strange phenomenon

Some are saying we go 8-4 this season but that would be shocking to me. We would have to have a glaring weakness for that to happen. What weakness would that be? QB? WR? Secondary?
