********. Seattle-metro was ground zero for the US and handled it pretty well with the notable exception of allowing a few Pro teams to play in Lumen field after the shutdown. It was a very strong public/private partnership that bent the spread curve early which is critical because this was before we had more effective treatment options resulting in a much higher rate of death.

Trump deserves credit for his decision to block traffic from China. Does it matter whether the decision was driven by Stephen Miller-esque xenophobia? It was the right decision, even in hindsight.

Given all the previous exhibited xenophobia by the Trump admin this is where they were their own worst enemy. They had limited credibility to draw from that the decision was being made for health reasons. It was a boy who cried wolf scenario. Additionally, you could point to delays in closing travel from Italy and other Caucasian dominated countries you can see that there was more resistance to putting travel bans in place for countries like us even though some of those countries like Italy were clearly in the throws of a health crisis. As New York later showed, it was the Italian variant that bit them the hardest. Still, as someone who lives within a predominantly Asian community I do appreciate that Trump limited travel when he did.

Incidentally, a Chinese neighbor on my block delivered a dozen N95 masks to every house on the block early during the Pandemic. I thought that was a great gesture to show that we were all in this together.

Handing money to the vaccine developers was other thing I give Trump credit for. It was "low hanging fruit" but still, they threw money and guarantees and spread it around amongst many pharma companies. Great decision.

With all of the wasteful spending, less than $300K is a drop in the bucket...and that is presuming they paid the fourteen cents per tablet that I would have paid at Kroger...

My guess is the State would have paid even less than that given government and quantity of order...

I'm gonna label you a hostile witness.

There's a certain amount of things that both sides were ignorant of. If you can't see that knowing the nature of the virus in February and not admitting to it until months later is not helpful to the attack of the virus then I don't know what to do for you. Trump's attitude toward dealing with public health has led DIRECTLY to vaccine hesitancy and we will not be done with this thing as herd immunity is not going to take affect.

Use the defense production act. Coordinate PPE, testing, etc. Don't make them compete against each other and the federal government for supplies.

Getting vaccinated in private was a total **** move as well.

    Lol. Fair enough.

Some of this is fair, some isn't. However, I'm not here to defend Trump. He did some things right and some things wrong, and of course his messaging was atrocious. Those things are fair points of criticism. It's the "my **** don't stink," and "we would have done better part" that awakens the sleeping right wing giant in me.

And what I find kinda interesting is that you're probably to SH's right on policy, but he's much less of a partisan than your are.

The Oklahoma governor should have looked at the studies that overwhelmingly show that it works instead of the propaganda that says it doesn't.

Wait are you suggesting Seattle followed the science? That’s freaking hilarious. Never stop being you. Never.

Pretty sure Seattle allowed mass demonstrations and a homeless camp to be built downtown or in some other major area. That is not following the "science." It was the hypocrisy shown by liberal mayors and governors across the country. The dumbass mayor of Nashville encouraged it to only to have public and private property destroyed.

I know very little about hydroxycloroquine as I am neither a physician or pharmacist. Accordingly, I never promoted it. However, with no alternatives at the time, I certainly would not try to prevent a doctor from prescribing it to a patient.

Seattle shut down the first week of March with all the mask/social distancing accoutrements. They had little control of the BLM protests just like every other city across the US as >1M took to the streets. Aside from backing out of CHAZ for a week to pour water on the escalating tensions I'm not sure what else the city could be expected to do. With that said, some of the BLM marches spanned miles and were silent because of the respect for Covid (social distancing/masks). I didn't travel to any of the protesters anyone but the ******* looters was generally masked up, including in CHAZ.

If I misremembered I apologize for lumping you into that crowd. There were multiple posters on the West Mall defending Hydroxychloroquine usage despite the lack of science to support that position. My point is that as the science evolved the local authorities made Covid a priority and thus Seattle bent that curve, much moreso than some rural counties in the State that have struggled as recently as a month ago.

I'm a bit of a vaccine skeptic, but it's because of things like blood clots. If I found out that the vaccine caused magnetism, I'd get it right away. I'd love to be able to stick a key to my forehead. I'd never lose my keys. That would be a game changer.

    From a different angle...

I caught the virus early on. In my case, like many, it's very possible the vaccine carries a bigger health threat than the virus itself, going forward.

People like to paint folks like me as anti vaxers. Not the case at all. If you want to take it, please do. In my case, and in my wife's case, there's enough "science " out there to opt out for the time being

North Carolina county bans Coca-Cola soda machines as a statement against the Multi-National company's stance on the GA Election then reverses course after it's pointed out that Coca-Cola Consolidated is a local company that distributes the machines and local Surry County jobs were at stake.

This may be the first and last time that I agree with you. You may want to re-visit that thought this fall.

Update: this Republican lawmaker set a record as the first member ever to be expelled from the Oregon House. The vote was 59-1. Former Rep Neuman was the lone vote against his own expelling.

I'll reserve judgment on this until we know more specifics. I can think of plausible scenarios in which this would be justifiable.

Good quote - not your quote but Caudle's. Too bad folks in Texas don't always think that way for their own jurisdiction unless the FAA makes them.

Will be interesting whether they re-evaluate now that air travel is opening up again compared to the events of the past year...

Leaks that constantly happened against Trump are fine along with any other republican. Any other ones that affect liberals, the dems and their media stooges go after people. Pretty simple.
