Why do Louis Gohmert, Andy Biggs, Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene have seats in the House? Without looking at their districts I'd wager gerrymandering is the root of the problem. It's a problem in progressive and conservative states. Sadly, their constituents clearly support their representatives who focus on flame throwing rather than problem solving.

People have emotional attachments to the way they were raised I guess. I don't know why it's so hard to accept the truth and abandon thoughts that are no longer true. But they go more high level and ironically, yes, some Conservatives do think with their feelings.

It's like some of my Texas hunting redneck friends. They have this self-image of a kind of bravado, frontier, tough-guy, cultural zeitgeist (and none of them would know the meaning of that word) and yet, they are some of the most emotional people I read on Facebook.

We as a nation have a bond with Israel that is probably unbreakable. Unfortunately for the Muslim representative, she is bashing the wrong person because she appears to represent the side that is our enemy on several levels.

My response to this - why do AOC, Pressley, Tlaib, and Omar have seats in the House?

Before someone says, "what about Marjorie Taylor Greene?" we can say she herself is a fruitcake but at least she's not constantly siding with our enemies.

That's only because you don't see the 1/6 insurrectionists as "enemies". If you do then yes, she does side with our enemies.

    All the extremists suck.

I think those are deep red districts. The gerrymandered ones are likely reasonable.

Wait until the libtiles realize that "calming colors" means the hallways look like those in *checks notes* prison.

Yes, there ARE reasons that our prisons always use shades like taupe or that hospital mint green...

I can't speak for all of those districts, but Gohmert's isn't particularly gerrymandered. It's East Texas. His style goes over well in that area and areas around it. No need to gerrymander.

If Gohmert is representative of East Texas then I'm exuberant that there aren't more areas of the country like East Texas. Wonder if the same thing can be said of Ilhan Omar and her district?

Pretty sure it is. They elected her, after all - and she is as far-out left as they come.

It takes a specific kind of constituency to nominate candidates like them. Basically a white, rural, southern, somewhat poor or lower-middle class constituency can nominate Gohmert. An urban constituency that is mostly minority and poor but also with a very ideologically leftist, wealthy white constituency would nominate someone like Omar. There aren't a lot of either one.

However, I think we mostly vote based on negative partisanship (meaning out of contempt for the opposition than affirmative support for our own party. Accordingly, if someone like Omar somehow won the primary, she'd probably win in any district that's more than about D+5. Ditto for Gohmert in districts that are more than about R+5.

Looney tunes. Anyone believes this crap?

American democracy is being attacked from two directions right now – from the white supremacist followers of Donald Trump who are suppressing votes, and from the wealth supremacists who are bribing lawmakers with campaign contributions.

Some of the wealth supremacists are quietly bankrolling the white supremacists because their mutual enemy is democracy.

In addition to his trite racist comments, the moron ignores the fact that a wealth tax is unconstitutional.

The billionaire class has somehow convinced the base (the trailers I drove by with trump flags) that their issues align.

Maybe the base knows better than the white liberal elite that the wealth is going to be blown within 1-2 generations on hookers and meth.

According to a report by Human Rights Watch:

Discriminatory and cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment of over 165 million people in India has been justified on the basis of caste. Caste is descent-based and hereditary in nature. It is a characteristic determined by one's birth into a particular caste, irrespective of the faith practiced by the individual. Caste denotes a traditional system of rigid social stratification into ranked groups defined by descent and occupation. Caste divisions in India dominate in housing, marriage, employment, and general social interaction-divisions that are reinforced through the practice and threat of social ostracism, economic boycotts, and physical violence.

I think Bezos and Zuckerberg tricked those rednecks by planting false conservative information into the rednecks' daily intake of facebook and the Washington Post.

As someone who grew up in East Texas, I can speak to it. First, it is very rural with pretty much only blue collar jobs. The timber industry is based there. It’s also home to the worlds largest producer of oil well pumping units.

The people are salt of the earth. They stick together especially with family. They farm, hunt and fish. They can survive off the land and really do not want or need government.

I left after high school and never went back to live. I do own hunting property there and love going back for time with what family remains and life long friends.

I have no desire to move back. But I can tell you the worst piece of East Texas is a million times better than Oklahoma. And I dare anyone speaking bad of East Texas to come down and talk **** about it in person.

You realize that debating the difference between eastern oklahoma and eastern Texas is like arguing about which boob on Pamela Anderson looks better.

What really needs to be canceled is water. Water is the most racist and the most responsible for genocide. Slaves were forced to drink water, water was the only drink provided on slave ships and slave owners used water to make coffee and tea. Nothing more racist than water.

Maybe the method of problem solving is the issue. For example:

    Republican: 2+2 = 4

    Democrat: Math is racist!

Slave owners breathed more oxygen than they drank water so perhaps oxygen is more racist than water.

How can climate change be antagonistic towards minorities? People who live on the coast are the wealthy elite. Hardening the infrastructure is basically a stimulus program to help the working poor.

'We need help,' says Chicago mayor after 4 killed in 2nd mass shooting in Chicago in 4 days

"Cities individually cannot tackle this problem. We just cannot. In Chicago, we've done absolutely everything possible and we need help from the federal government," Lightfoot said. "When guns are so porous that they can come across our borders as we see every single day in Chicago, we know that we have to have a multi-jurisdictional, national solution to this horrible plague of gun violence."

Not one comment about culture's of violence. About the will to kill. Nothing. That's Liberalism. It's only about guns.
