Any time we get a kid out of Kimball , it's worth discussing. More importantly, someone living in Dallas take a copy and tape it on Percy Penn's tombstone.

I wonder how Shaka Smart feels about all of this. If he doesn't feel like a piece of moldy bread stuck between the creases of a car seat, he should.

His viewpoint is there were institutional issues that prevented him from greatness at Texas so he could care less (especially since it will be 9 to 10 months until the first Beard judgment).

Like most people that change jobs, I'm sure Shaka is concentrating on his new team and enjoying whatever million dollar property he lives in now.
How much rent is he paying to live in your head?

Hes not paying rent at all. It's simply extraordinary what Beard has done to completely transform this team in just a few months. The talent he's brought in to a team that was left with literally a bare, moldy cupboard when Shaka left is incredible and the rest of the nation has acknowledged it. Are you bitter? I loved Shaka and met him at one of the coaches shows and he was a great guy. That said, if I was in his place I'd be pretty embarrassed by what Beard has been able to do so far. Hopefully it translates into wins but it's a night and day difference.

Shaka is a rich man like you said. He won't go hungry that's for sure.

I don't think the cupboard was bare when Shaka left.
As a matter of fact a few pretty good players decided to stay another year.
I am also pleased and astounded at the transfers and recruits Beard has accumulated so far.
Am I bitter? Not at all.
Sounds funny coming from someone continuously looking backwards rather than forwards.
Any bitterness would seem to be on your part.
Shaka did his best. He's gone.
Looking forward to this coming season and what Beard can do with the talent he is assembling.

Nope. Objectively comparing two coaches isn't "continuously looking backwards. You're the one that came at me for my post defending Shaka because I was being sarcastic in my language. You didn't like it. I'm glad you're as excited as I am about the future. I'm glad we made the move for Beard as it looks like a serious upgrade thus far. That's an objective observation. Period.

Compare how Beard has started to these Marquette recruiting headlines. Shaka is out there offering everyone but so far they've gotten no commits and one transfer. I appreciate the immediate impact Beard has made. This is why I wince when I hear coaches saying it will take 4-6 years to make an impact and that's BS. A good coach and make a change now. We'll see how the actual performance on the court goes, but so far I am very impressed.

Me too. Based on what he's done at every head coaching gig he's had, he'll do well. I'm thinking win(s) in March Madness.

I sure wish the roster would get posted. It seems awfully late to not be posted. It's hard for me to envision a starting lineup without being able to see a roster in front of me.

Agree 2003 - heard that show in the car while sitting in my driveway unwilling to go inside and turn it on because I didn't want to miss a word. Basketball is by far my least favorite of the major sports but damn I'm getting excited to watch this season.
