2021 MaxPreps All-America Team: Jordan Bahl, Sophia Simpson headline high school softball's best - MaxPreps Congratulations to Sophia Simpson on being named maxpreps Co-national player of the year this season. A special talent coming to Austin this fall
I was curious about the list of players and where they ended up committing to or playing. I only picked the last few years: 2015 - Tannon Snow, Washington transferred to Auburn. I remember her name due to the uniqueness of it. 2016 - Caroline Hedgecock, Arkansas transferred to Wisconsin. Wisconsin would not give players a COVID bonus year scholarship, so she was done 2017 - Taylor Dockins, Cal State Fullerton. 2018 - Montana Fouts, Alabama. Yeah, well duh 2019 - Sydney Supple, Northwestern 2020 - None 2021 - Jordan Bahl, OU; Sophia Simpson, Texas I did that because I wondered what kind of interest the "top" player as ranked by one service garnered. Hey we finally got a top recruit like OU!
There is no doubt Vanessa Quiroga will spend time on the mound and at the plate for the Longhorns! This girl can do it all!
Just a reminder to everyone that Mia Scott, Sophia Simpson, Ashton Maloney, and Mya Holmes will be playing in the alliance fast pitch all american game tomorrow night at 8:00 p.m. You can catch the game on espnU.
Got a chance to watch the Allstar game and Simpson was supposed to start the game but for some odd reason it was changed last minute so she only got to pitch in the 7th inning. She gave up three runs on two Homeruns but her ability to hit corners and use that change up will make her very effective. Mia Scott and Mya Holmes got the start as well and batted 1-2. I was impressed by both. Holmes has quite an arm on her and some pop to her bat. Scott is very speedy. I believe she went 3-3 on stolen bases and it wasn't even close even with good throws from the catcher. Both will immediately compete for starting spots. Overall it was a great game with some great talent on both teams. The future is bright in Texas
Watched the game as well. Sophia had pitched the game for her Bombers team right before. Scott will be a 1-2 hitter for us next year and starting 3B. Holmes has all 5tools only problem I think hitting is her weakest. Saw some players I really hope to see in the portal.
Did you Simpsons game before the all american game?? I didn't know she was still playing travel ball this summer.
Yes the bombers are playing in the national tournament out there right now. They are doing it like the NCAA Tournament with regionals, super regionals, and then the world series. Except all done in one week. She pitched the game earlier before the all star. CG 1 hitter 12 Ks.
