Also the messaging is contradictory. If delta is so contagious, then everyone is going to get it eventually. Thus, why mask up and delay the inevitable? CDC is nothing but a contradictory mess.

I’m spending my Saturday tracking down clinic nurses to see if they can work at the hospital as they currently have two vent patients in the ER that they can’t place in tertiary hospitals. That’s why.

    update. 3 now.

Sorry to hear this. We are seeing increases across the board too. The CDC has been wrong at every turn though. If anything, aren’t they the ones responsible for the increasing cases? After all, they suggested vaccinated people didn’t need masks. Good luck finding nurses.

WSJ article on change of CDC mask guidance doesn’t mention the outbreak in question on cape cod was a gay day event but does say the event was densely packed in bars, restaurants and houses.

So how many people returning to work or school expect the office or classroom environment to be like a gay parade (not that there is anything wrong with that)? The world has turned so ducking stupid.

What are the ages and overall health conditions prior to the supposed increase in cases here?

Cases are irrelevant. Hospitalized and deaths are the metric. 98-99% unvaccinated. Typical age profile.

    Interesting
Was talking to an EMT person from Louisiana
They are seeing a spike in cases.
The EMT asked the lab people how the Delta variant showed up different. The lab people said there was no difference that they have seen.

Yesterday Newsmax asked the Principal Deputy Secretary( whatever that is) how the CDC is testing for the variant. How does the CDC know it is the variant

Her answer? Because the experts say so.

They send a subset of samples of their positive tests to the CDC for genetic testing to get a sense of the delta % in total number of cases. It’s not exact but a fuzzy picture in time.

    Thanks for the explanation.
I guess the Lab people at the hospital didn't realize the samples were being sent on.

Or they do not send theirs.

I think the average age will skew younger than last year. I also think that 97-99% will fall as delta spreads and immunity wanes a little.

Over 10,000 employees at the CDC and they had no idea the virus existed until folks in Cali gave them a call. A billion + dollars of annual payroll wasted on government idiots. Worse, they helped fund Wuhan.

But the overall number of breakthrough cases is likely higher since the state said it stopped tracking the others in May when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention switched gears.

I wonder what gear they went to?

    In Texas...

    Deaths keep going down!!

Hospitalization curve is starting to bend under the 2020 summer curve.

Cases are over the summer 2020 curve, but I think there are contextual issues for that. Or maybe the Delta variant is just evolved to live inside of humans and cause less problems.

Need to start giving everyone diagnosed HCQ, Zinc, and Vitamin D. Everyone should be taking Vitamin D and Zinc anyway. But I don't wish ill on those who don't like so many Progressives bent on vengeance for the unvaccinated.

That NYT story indicates that Covid breaks when you expect it not to. Interesting.

You tweet shows 1 data point at 1 point in time. The contextual data looks like the FL curve is ahead of CA. It may not turn out this way, but in about a month I expect the numbers to be reversed as CA is going up and FL is coming back down. These are 2 different regions of the world. The seasons are different and the exact timing of seasons are different.

It's really funny and sad that the people throwing up these numbers show that they have no idea how to understand data. I wouldn't trust these people to work on my team. We have to gather, sift, and analyze data to get to objective truth and then make decisions to solve problems.

You can’t stop a virus, only slow it. At this point, why slow it down? For what end, to kill the economy?

Except for Florida, cases are falling in the sunbelt. Check out AL, LA, RR, MS, etc. This will be a non-story in 2 weeks.
