I was told today that the nearest hospital taking transfers from Tulsa was Albuquerque.

We already have an immigration disaster on our southern border. We aren't taking on Okies from the north just now.

Albuquerque? After all the closures and shutdowns NMex went through? Interesting, very interesting.

Bubba how many total beds does your hospital have? I have a 300 bed hospital with 102 Covid patients. They are still doing surgeries and have set up areas outside of ICU to care for patients. Seems like leadership on Covid continues to fail us.

18 months in I am not sympathetic to hospitals, if they chose not to expand in light of COVID. When there is more demand there must be more supply. Or one of two things will happen, either prices will go up or shortages will occur.

This is further proof we have socialized healthcare, not free market. The central planners haven't allowed prices to go up or supply to be increased, therefore there are shortages. We are pretty much like European healthcare but we allow some private actors to make money in it and we don't pay for it with taxes. The actual delivery is socialist though, if not socialist, then fascist.

Isn't there a risk of over-expansion? Infrastructure takes lots of capital and years to plan. Expecting them to have something that many though would diminish greatly when vaccines became readily available seems irresponsible, doesn't it?

Now, if COVID is now simply becoming a way of life issue in which no matter how many vaccines and boosters Pharma develops we will have high rates of hospitalization's then they should expand. Not sure 18 months only 8 with the vaccine is enough of a sample size.

Keep in mind, COVID has been a $$ drain for hospitals so they actually have even less $$ to expand right now.

Well we certainly are not going to vaccinate Covid away, anymore than we will cure the cold. So there’s that.
On the vaccinated vs infected front, interesting personal story: as I said my son (anti-vaccine) just got over it, approx 4 days of yuck fatigue, then couple days recovering. Wife (anti-vaccine) gets it and has longer to get over. While they get it wife’s vaccinated mother is visiting, she gets it. Hers lasts for 4 days, generally yucky with loss of taste and smell for maybe three days but otherwise mild, she’s mid 60’s. I was around them first two days, don’t get it, wife too and she doesn’t get it, we’re in the vulnerable age but otherwise healthy. Sons best friend helps him move furniture one day, he doesn’t get it (unvaccinated). Oh and 6 month old gets really fussy for three days so suspect she’s got it.
So tell me how recovery is not better immunity till you’re blue in the face but I’m not buying it.

Will the liberals on here let me know where they stand:
    1) should we mandate vaccines?
    2) if so, wouldn’t that cancel your stance on abortion?

    Please educate me.

Well, you know the answer to that. The overwhelmingly high % of women being raped and impregnated is not contagious.

First let me pick myself off the ground at the comparison of a vaccine to an abortion. If you consider them the same then I'm not sure where to start other than getting stitches is not the same as losing an arm.

No. No mandates but there are certain privileges that come from getting vaccinated. I'd be OK with only allowing vaccinated people to fly, attend sporting events, essentially anywhere you are in crowded situations. There are people that try to live off the grid and homeschool their children just to avoid them getting the mandatory vaccines to attend public school. Covid vaccines should be treated like the other vaccines that are required in all walks of life and that we all received growing up.

Nobody gave a damn about this growing up. Just yesterday my son received his mandatory Meningitis vaccination required for living in the college dorm.

I think employers mandating vaccines is capitalism. People want to assure that their workforce is safe for customers. Our vaccine mandates are to assure that we are able to provide health care services to the communities and, you know, science. Colleges, NFL teams, the military, etc. mandates would seem reasonable with well established exemptions.

Are you stating that the left is for mandating abortions?

The anti-population and anti-human left does in fact want to mandate abortions. They also want to enact restrictions on energy in the developing world, which has the same ultimate impact on being anti-human.

Please tell me the last time there was a required vaccine for the flu? That's basically what rona is but with different side effects. It is IMPOSSIBLE to vaccinate effectively for rona. I just found out about a vaccinated person who works in a different division from me who is in ICU on a vent. For two days he almost died but is going to make it although he won't be able to return to work until sometime next year. There is no vaccine to stop this and it only seriously affects a very small % of people.

We mandated flu vaccine. We lost a few staff members over it. Hospitals have been doing that for a period of time.

So is paying below minimum wage, denying workers compensation coverage, refusing to hire anybody but white males, and ****-canning anyone who says something nice about unions. I agree with you that employers should have the right to make vaccination a condition of employment. However, the "capitalism" argument is weak and especially weak coming from someone who leans left.
