Sad time for me. The coal power TVA plant that my dad worked at for over 40 years and for my entire childhood was closed and imploded two weeks ago. The original smoke stacks were replaced in about 1982ish with the one giant stack you see falling in the video. It had smoke scrubbers on it that eliminated 99.9% of all pollution for the past 35+ years. All of the employees lost their jobs or were asked to relocate. This is killing my hometown because if you don't work at TVA then you worked at the DuPont plant about a mile away.
There was no reason to close this plant other than for liberal political gain. The article states that it is being cleared for a cleaner energy plant, but no one I know has heard any specific plans to rebuild.
TVA implosion at New Johnsonville plant
Edit: The article states it stopped producing electricity in 2017, but everything halted then as a result of an EPA agreement under Obam in 2016. He promised he'd shut down all the coal plants yet all those union guys voted themselves out of a job anyway. Idiots.
