None of us can know for sure but I don't think a couple of dozen extra passes against demoralized 2nd stringers of 2nd rate opponents would have prepared him well for Alabama.
What we really did wrong that I saw was try and just sit on the ball. It's like we got on a bullhorn and told the Alabama defense "We don't trust this guy, we're just gonna hand off and throw short passes" and wasted the entire first half.
Yep. Malcolm Williams had the unforced drop of well-thrown pass that would have been a TD, and Marquise Goodwin and DJ Monroe both caused interceptions by unforced muffs of well-throw passes that hit them in the chest/shoulder. Jordan Shipley was the only Texas player to catch a pass while more than 5 yards downfield that day.
