    What makes you say this?
I see nothing that would make one assume this unless you think Sark would go that route if Card makes some mistakes ...and that makes no sense as Sark already knows he will.
Or maybe Sark thinks Casey is the type who..like in the Alamobowl..will come off the bench and play well and, again, that wouldn't prescribe your prediction as it would be better to keep bringing him off the bench..not saying I would suggest that.

Only Card absolutely playing like trash or him playing poorly and CT coming in and lighting it up would give that a chance....and that is a possibility no doubt I'll acknowledge....
But to say it matter of factly doesnt seem to jive with probability here.
The probability is Card is and will be a good QB, likely will make mistakes but wont play like trash, and Sark will not wont to do anything to jack with his longterm confidence, mojo, or his place on the team/how he is perceived.
What scenario are you envisioning here and what about Card makes you think CT would so easily overtake him? He will experience growing pains..but appears to be a straight balla.
And hey I just want us to win so they both my Dawgs...
    :hookem:

Every player on every team at every position is reevaluated after every game.

I don't like Mayfield for multiple reasons and as a result of many actions on his part; that said, few college kids have had to endure the public embarrassment & ridicule Mayfield had in Lubbock and then following him to Norman.

Yeah, but don't forget that he solved the quarterback problem for that, uh, football team in Washington DC. :smh:

    Creaky,

He goes from his situation in Lubbock to Norman (with baggage tagging along) and then his reward is getting to work for the Haslam family. The kid just has a black cloud following him around.

Interesting perspective. I just love how Progressive selects a lowlife like BM to represent them. Then there’s the Nissan Heisman House ads. Again, featuring BM.

An a** of a guy who has demonstrated his poor judgment and lack of maturity over and over, is now a poster boy for these companies. Wow. I just douchbaggery really sells these days.

Was going to comment on this myself, Duke.
It does. Nobody cares what your character is like these days...as long as they can profit....and you don't violate any of The Annoited's chosen pet themes at the time.
Being a person of high character just isn't hot right now.

Ok, I’ll be the set-up guy I guess. So, all that comes to mind is that Mayfield put a flag in Ohio State’s field (the home of true bad sportsmanship). He was stopped as a witness only in an offseason suspected public intoxication of his friend—then ran 10 feet and got tackled. He is boastful and braggy. He prodded a rivalry with Ehlinger based on their HS rivalry.
So, the NFL has plenty of absolute criminals—wife beaters, child beaters, etc. There are also dozens of braggy types. It’s actually part of the promotion of the sport. So, in what way is Mayfield the worst of all of them? And comparing a Heisman winner/#1pick/NFL starter to Charlie Brewer, who has really done nothing, is not quite right.

So, I’m willing to be re-educated, but Mayfield seems like a big talker who actually makes a show with a sense of humor, and who has actually backed up his hype and more so. If it’s just that he is from OU, and that’s it, well , ok, but he isn’t a Johnny Manziel type.

    Ok, I’ll await re-education….

Well, for my part I never said Mayfold is a criminal, is incompetent, or that he sucks. I said he is a douchewaffle. I stand by that statement.

Mayfield walked on at 2 Big 12 schools and took the starting QB job at both. Then he won the Heisman at the 2nd stop. Before that, he was a running back who was pressed into service as the LT QB due to injury and he won a state title there. The dude can play. He runs his mouth and makes dumb off-field decisions, I grant you, but I still respect what he did at HS and college.

As Card gains confidence and experience, I believe he can be a very good QB. But I have, over the years, also seen potential solid or maybe even great, QBs end up standing on the sideline carrying a clipboard. I've also seen guys who were 3rd stringers and projected to never put cleats on a field have solid careers. So, I guess we'll see. Hopefully, he makes solid progress going forward. But for the present, playing Thompson puts us in a better position to move the ball forward.

This seems apparent now. Seems like CT would have given us a better chance vs Arky and Card wasn't ready.
I said I thought Card would have growing pains and saw us a 3-4 loss team with him growing through the season. I was nervous about Card's youth and inexperience going into a setup like Fayetteville and it proved out. Though I have been a fan of CT and at times a vocal promoter of him....I started really buying Card as a better fit for Sark and may have underestimated Casey's leadership, etc. It is apparent to me now the way to go forward is to have CT, with a little more confidence and experience, qb1 and use the season to get Card more game time experience. Hope we didbt ruin him.
Does CT have 1 extra year due to covid?
If CT leaves we will find out what Card is made of before Maliik takes a shot. If not....CT should be a beast coming back.

Yes, CT is granted an extra year and as it was published Card will get the extra year as well. The NCAA Div. 1 athletes involved in Fall 2020-21 sports were granted an extra year of eligibility. It wasn't restricted to just Seniors as I understood the ruling.

That was painfully evident as the game progressed. I was expecting Sark to pull him at least by halftime and was surprised Card continue to run the offense in the second half. When Thompson was sent in early 4th quarter, the damage had already been done. But, Thompson did have some good drives for scores.

I feel like I’m trying to add realism, but maybe I’m being contrary. To me, it’s mainly a myth that Thompson did so much better in the Arkansas game. Card was 8/15 for 61 yards against aggressive rush that got home almost every time. Plus, he had important balls just dropped. Thompson was 5/8 for 57 yards in garbage time against second stringers while Arkansas was already partying on the sidelines. So, yes, CT got 2 TDS (via running backs), and Card got one, plus at least one missed FG if I recall.
There is nothing to indicate Thompson would have made 1% difference if he had the first 3 quarters, got rocked over and over, and Card came in when we were down 30-7.
So, what was painfully obvious to me is that no QB short of Joe Montana was going to move the ball against Arkansas that day with that OL.
Having been humiliated like that, I agree that starting CT was needed to give hope for change and symbolically get a fresh start. But I don’t think there was an important difference that day, and as I have posted before, Card’s performance against ULa was more impressive than CT’s performance against hapless Rice.

With all that said, we should stay with CT because perceptions and mythology matter—to the other players, the fans and the press. But as for comparing the two specific QBs, Card is the one who is like what Alabama, Ohio State, and Clemson have used to win it all.

Good points. However, Card looked like a deer in the headlights on several plays, could have taken off running on several occasions, and played until early in the 4 quarter. So, he didn't fare much better against the subs that were coming in. He'll learn from the experience and is most likely improve this season and hopefully become the QB and leader we believe him to be. I'll trust Sark and Co. to make those decisions.

Yes. And Card also missed multiple deep throws to open receivers. And he wasn’t pressured on those misses. His offensive line had a bad day; Card was off as well. It was a day that everyone can learn from.
Our O line is very young. Lots of freshmen and sophomores on the two deep depth chart. And last time I looked Card was a freshman. Both he and our O line will be better as they mature—if they can survive against bigger stronger D lines who have 2-3 years of playing time/strength conditioning/maturation on them.

    VY,

It's not so much what Card "did", but rather what he "didn't do" - the reads he missed.
