All angry all the time

It's really getting hard to spend even a few minutes on the all news channels these days. Television and "news radio" except NPR is all political all the time and most is produced and packaged to stir anger. I became utterly disgusted trying to catch Hurricane news. ... the stations barely let up from the packaging, self promotion and outrageous takes on what the other side is doing to show naturally dramatic and impactful events that are worthy of attention, even without a political villain. Everybody seems more interested in being angry and on the "right" side of issues than understanding what's going on. There seems to no ground to gain by being thoughtful and evenhanded covereage.

It's why I don't watch network TV or any of the cable news any more. There is no true information, only propaganda, gossip, and sensationalism.

The sad thing is that most on the left doesn’t think the news has changed. Same reliability as always.

I got my "hurricane news" from the weather channel. Had to listen to climate change rattling, but the news was there to be had for anyone wanting it

NPR is hyper political, has been for years. Unfortunately that has also crept into local programmng such as Think (krys boyd). I used to listen nightly to the replays, but had to turn it off due to the continual anti Trump diatribes

I admit, I'm angry. 13 soldiers dead because of a horribly executed withdrawal. As many as 10 dead from a drone strike that our own leadeship tried to paint as a successful killing of a terrorist. Hundreds of Americans left behind in a war zone to fend for themselves when it didn't have to come to this. An EO on inauguration day costing hundreds (thousands?) of people to be unemployed immediately. Who does that ****?

I don't need a talking head to be pissed off, so plz don't point a sole finger at news channels/ orgs. I don't need hyperbole to tell me a white woman wearing a gorilla mask throwing an egg at Larry Elder is reprehensible & racist.

Did you post this same thing when Trump was getting roasted over crap he didn't say or didn't do? Just wondering

We live in a divided country. The media may have played a part, yes. But political agendas are what has driven the divide

I don't post on this board as much as I used to because West Mall has become more a place to cheer for your side/our side than thoughtfully discuss issues. I'm more angry than is healthy or useful ... and I'm constantly running into folks angrier than I am who continously feed the beast.

I stopped watching any network or cable news on a daily basis. I watch Fox News Sunday and read the WSJ. Cannot take the propaganda anymore.

Have you tried watching Cavuto on Fox Business? He's not a trumper. Probably conservative, but he doesn't yell and scream.

You mentioned NPR, while they don't yell at you, the slant is too much. Cavuto isn't anywhere near that level, if any at all

The night time fox people are hard to listen to most of the time, just as cnn, msnbc... but your comment about 'hurricane news', The Weather Channel and AccuWeather is nothing but coverage on what you were asking for. Not sure why that was a problem (?)

I'll bash the media all day long. The institution is about 98 percent ****. However, they are giving us what we want. For example, even without being a Trump supporter, I thought Jim Acosta was a garbage journalist. However, what if his smug douchiness, self-righteousness, and argumentative partisanship led to lower ratings and calls from colleagues and superiors telling him to cut the **** and do his job? He probably would have behaved differently.

Don Henley was right. "We all know that crap is king." We don't want news. We want to be entertained, and we want to be told that we're right and good and that the people we don't like are wrong and immoral. That's why this garbage fills our media.

NPR isn't this way in tone (though it often is in content), but they don't need a big following to stay in business the way the big networks and news organizations do. If they have six listeners, they still get paid. If CNN has six viewers, it's off the air and in bankruptcy court in about ten minutes.

So is our media garbage? Of course, but we need to look in the mirror more. Crap sells. News doesn't. That's on us.

It's not on me. I believe an intelligent person can separate the wheat from the chaff. The hard part is waiting long enough to actually see any wheat.

Here's something to be angry about.

If Trump colluded with the Russians why has the entire matter died?

The entire focus of the media was to attack Trump daily. It was like a MIRV.

I understand, I just don’t want to be counted in that number, and I obviously only have limited influence. I can’t even change SH or Coach’s minds with basic, easy to read and understand facts. If simple, factual explanations don’t change someone’s mind, it appears that force will have to ultimately be employed.

Civil War of some kind seems to be imminent, if your honest with yourself. Not what I want. I’ve said we’re Germany circa 1938 right now. Something is gonna break, giving us the truth. US Is a smoking powder keg about to blow up. Whatever is the truth, that’s all I want.

Yeah I’m not yet AC fervent but certainly more concerned than ever before. I have one son that is a successful entrepreneur who never followed politics, never strayed from middle of the road just take care of his employees and family to for the first time expressed serious fear and concern over Govt overreach. On ride home after picking me up from airport he went on and on about tax fears and the vaccine mandate. And btw he was NOT a Trump fan.

Same here. Almost all of us do.

When orgs like the CDC, NIH and the FBI have shown themselves to be politically active above all else, I don't think it's possible. Fair and honest journalism by and large ended many, many years ago. It's a Swamp

Local news is always sad like "so and so was murder in SW Houston today. Our top story." Cable news is always opinion so I skip both. The only news I've tuned into lately was Hurricane Ida.

It's more than government overreach. Government overreach is when the government gets a little loose with its own interpretations of its authority and oversteps. This is a total breakdown of the political process and ultimately the rule of law. Our founding fathers were brilliant, but there's an assumption they made that was very clearly wrong. They assumed that there would be an adversarial and somewhat tense relationship between the three branches and that they would haggle with each other for power. That isn't happening. Rather than haggle for power the branches closest to the public (Congress and to a lesser degree, the President) have, out of flagrant cowardice, forfeited their authority to the most distant elements of the executive (the bureaucracy) and the judiciary.

Effectively, the government is running on autopilot and untethered from the law. The President is issuing executive orders without even the pretense of authority and sometimes after publicly admitting that he doesn't have the authority. Congress should be at Defcon 1 and frankly, impeaching the President over this stuff, but they aren't. Some of it is because of partisan reasons. However, the reason it never seems to happen (even when Congress and the White House are from different parties) is that it would force the responsibility for dealing with problems onto Congress and they'd rather just sit on the sidelines and *****. I'll rip Biden and the Democrats right now, because they're doing it right now. However, both sides are massively guilty.

What we need now is for the judiciary to just bust this whole dumpster fire up. They need to wildly rein the executive branch in. Agency rules and regulations should be getting decimated in the courts. That would force Congress to put up or STFU, which is how the system is supposed to work.

I actually agree with you Deez. Imagine that. However, a lot more of the government than you realize is compromised including the judicial branch. Justice Robert’s, Justice Thomas, plus all the liberal Justice’s. They’re all compromised. I don’t want to reveal every detail. Some of it was on Anthony Weiner’s laptop. Clinton emails perhaps. The problem is the real facts are kept hidden from the public which is you AND me. Instead of calling me names, just realize they are hiding a lot from us. I don’t know why you dislike Trump. But, my understanding is the Military asked him to run for President, to help them clean all of this up.
Everyone wants every detail disclosed. The military has it, they determine when and how it gets disclosed. Until then. Our government is compromised. R’s and D’s. I don’t even agree with Republicans anymore. Only Patriots. Not many of those!

AC thinks the military asked Trump to run. If true, the situation is worse than even the paranoids believe.

Maybe the country is too big, too rich, too addicted to hedonism and devoid of values except entertainment. Maybe our political class is living literally and figuratively in gated communities.

A country where W can step out and chastise people for a lack of civility after starting wars with people who have not attacked us to remove weapons that don't exist and starts a domino effect that has killed hundreds of thousands of people is a country with some serious short sightedness.

How do people like W and Clinton and Trump and Biden get elected? And we want to make it easier to vote? Yes, let's make it easier to get those voters who want to vote at midnight or don't want to leave their cars or even their houses. And how about letting convicted felons vote?

I respect the angst you guys feel, but it is very late in the process.

We probably agree on a lot of things. I'm pretty conservative, and though I was never a Trump fan and didn't vote for him the first time, there are significant facets of Trump's agenda that I'm favorable to. I liked his judicial picks (mostly). I liked the confrontation on China. I didn't like ever facet of it, but I liked that we weren't licking their sack like previous administrations of both parties largely did. I liked the willingness to limit immigration even if I didn't like every portion of his immigration agenda (didn't care for the Wall).

We differ when you go into conspiracy theories that are unsupported like John Brennan getting executed by military tribunals, guys like Justice Roberts and especially Justice Thomas (who might be the last justice to be associated with any kind of establishment interests) being "compromised," the idea that the military is going to launch a coup and extra-constitutionally reinstate Trump, etc. You go into a lot of very strange places that are mostly the province of QAnon. That's not me.

Every branch of the military and every member that is not compromised by CCP infiltration. It’s a majority as far as I know. I don’t follow all of Q. It’s just that the alternatives to what I hope for, are far worse. These black swan events have hardly even started yet. You’ll see. I would stock up on food and ammo and guns if you need to. It’s ok not to agree with me. I’m just warning you, trying to help. Maybe you’ll buy extra batteries or something. Once mass rioting begins, much less the Gov response, you’ll thank me.

Here is my blog from Friday (neutralatm.com/blog) about the US Economy. Read Janet Yellen’s letter. October 15th is when the US defaults if the debt ceiling isn’t raised....again! October could be interesting!

The debt ceiling will be raised. Whomever is NOT in power (R's right now) will stomp and threaten trying to get concessions on their pet issues but the ceiling will be raised in the 11th hour just like it has been every time previously. If you think it won't be raised then you're gullible to the fake drama.

I've heard some rumbles that progressive Ds could hold it up if they don't get the $3.5T. Ultimately, it's all BS. Nobody will really hold it up. They should just get rid of the debt ceiling. The whole thing is a scam.

It is a scam. as much as we get on D's for virtue signaling, this is a topic that R's are guilty of virtue signaling. they haven't been serious about this aspect of conservatism for a very long time.
