Felt like this one was a big enough deal to get its own thread. Hope I'm wrong but I can't imagine Nebraska winning this one, although it sure would turn around that program and Scott Frost's job security if they did. Only way I see it is if Nebraska comes out and plays the whole game with an unquenchable burning fury (a la Arkansas) while Oklahoma shows their 2nd half of the Tulane game is not a fluke and their pass defense still really is that awful.
Yea….chances are slim to none and Slim just left town. Don’t know anything about the Nebraska “D” but one factor to consider is a strong running quarterback. K State has given OU fits over the years with that weapon.
When Rattler is in trouble, the OU receivers keep moving to get open, and then come towards the pass to beat the defender to it. I had forgotten what this is like.
Nebraska keeps trying to beat OU to the edge from the backfield and it doesn't work. But when they just go with a straight up drop-back pass, they are giving Martinez all sorts of time to throw.
Well, halfway through the second quarter and Nebraska is making a game of it - Zero U 7, Nebraska 3. Time of possession roughly even - keeping the ball for Nebraska will help them keep it close.
Spencer Rattler looking more like the second team JV QB at Cedar Park. Throwing deep into TRIPLE coverage. Making piss poor decisions. Maybe things change in second half.
Liking this... Huskers TD! Dayum sooners block extra point run back for 2. 16-9 Husker bad luck continues....
Nebraska fields a kick near the sidelines at like the 5. So instead of either getting the kick out of bounds penalty or the free 25 yard line, they advance it out to the 12 yard line or so. Then on 1st and 10 they waste a timeout. Down 2 scores in the 4th, save the timeout - it might earn you way more than 5 yards in the final minutes - and take the 1st and 15. NU just not making intelligent choices right now.
DAMN! NEB squandered that great field position and threw a pic on 4th down. Tried to go for the home run ball 3 straight times, instead of working it toward the EZ.
At least the guy chose self over team by picking it off to cost his squad 25 yards, but barring a catastrophic meltdown by the Sooners, it won't matter.
At least the Neb D held ou to 3 and out in the shadow of the okie goal posts. But time is not in UN's favor unless they can score quickly . . . but that's not a given.
