He was benched and seemed to go straight from there to leaving the team. Although given his concussion history, there may be something else involved. I hope he's not already suffering from the repeated head trauma (remember Baylor putting him back into the game while clearly woozy and the ref had to intervene?) Utah statement is simply: "Charlie has decided to move on and we wish him the best."

The team really seemed to respond to Rising once he got in. Brewer must have seen the writing on the wall.

When Thompson came in against Arkansas, we saw a glimpse of what we should have been doing, but it was a lot more exciting for Utah against SDSU. Rising brought them back to force overtime, and did so with minimal mistakes and some exciting runs. I don't blame Brewer for giving it one last hurrah.

Brewer was at Baylor, had suffered 3 total concussions. He was pulled out of Baylor's bowl game against Georgia after a hard, late tackle and hit to the head. The HC said they were looking at his neck. Next, he transferred to Utah, and was pulled during a game. Now he's entering the portal again. Seems the number of concussions he has suffered is the cause of his erratic play. If the hit in the games against Georgia was actually a concussion, that's 4 total. Then he transferred to Utah.

He was pulled out of the BYU game which Utah lost. Then after practice the next week, he announced his intent to transfer and enter the transfer portal yet again. There are probably coaches out there who will take him, but it is risky every time he steps on a field, one hard tackle could be the end of not only his career, but also his life. Brewer believes nothing is wrong but after 4 concussions, he needs to hang it up, stay with the team, graduate, and perhaps go into coaching. If he continues to play, he's on borrowed time.

I had a concussion four years ago. Not something to be taken lightly and no one here is taking this lightly. Of all things, I slipped on a slow sloping ant hill while walking to my vehicle. If I had fallen two feet to the right on the sidewalk from my house, I would either be dead or brain-dead and a Sooner Fan. Just kidding OU Bubba (maybe). :smile1: My head actually made an indent in my front yard and it knocked me out. Occasionally, I still have issues with speech.

Concussions are a serious matter. Basically, those are broken blood vessels in the brain. Blood and brain cells do not mix well and the cells in contact with the blood are damaged causing them to cease functioning as I recall from my gross human anatomy days. I've been fortunate in that I've only had one minor concussion while playing sports.

My brother played at Arkansas in the 1960's. I was in the locker room (which was actually in Barnhill Arena, next to Razorback Stadium), after the Rice game in 1968. When I got to him, he had no idea who I was for about 20 minutes. That was his senior season. He had been playing football since junior high. The damage had already been done. He played the rest of the season and was on the only UofA team to ever win a Sugar Bowl.

The changes in his behavior started in his early 30's. By his early 40's he was becoming paranoid and had found beliefs that were not grounded in reality. He took his life a week after his 52nd birthday.

I hope Brewer never puts on a helmet again.

Just another reason to hate those creatures.

Ants do serve a purpose. Not sure exactly what. It had rained the night before and I just did not see the ant bed. They did bite me after I passed out near their nest. Can't blame them for that. Did remind me of the movie "THEM".

In general, ants act as decomposers by feeding on organic waste, insects or other dead animals. For example, carpenter ants, which make their nests in dead or diseased wood, considerably accelerate the decomposition process of timber. Ants also aerate the soil, which allows water and oxygen to reach plant roots. They also aid in seed dispersal.

That's about all I know about them.
