    We have two excellent QBs.
One a little more mature and battle tested and getting the start.
The other more than capable of stepping in should need be.
    I'm good.
And Sark is handling it well so far.

To your comment jhorn I did see Sark talking to jwhit after that play and, while I obviously could hear the conversation, it definitely appeared like it was a ‘coaching’ moment.
It looked to me that, like Mc commented, the throw was meant to be to back of EZ and with the body position of CT he just couldn’t throw it that far. Hopefully he has learned the lesson and even with game in control, he won’t try that again.

Never pulled for Texas to lose a game in my life. But I damn sure have an opinion on who should be in the game to get that win.
Whoever is in the game at qb, I want him to play Heisman ball.
I opine Card is the better qb, especially long term and we lost two games of experience for him. Love CT as a capable back up, but his passing is going to cost us. That said when CT is starting I am pulling for him to dominate his position.
Anyone that does not see his passing is a liability has blinders on.

Card is not my nephew, but I wish he was because he could buy me house when he signs his pro contract.

Tell me Pomspoms, which receiver was CT throwing to, the receiver that made a diving catch on an under thrown ball or the receiver he over threw??

I was a Simms fan (over Applewhite). My reasoning is that you always have to play the "5 star" to convince other "5 stars" they can come to Texas and immediately vie for playing time. However, although I like both qb's, I think CT has a little more "escapability" than HC and CT is making good choices overall so this is a good place to be. I think Card needs more passing opportunities but understand when you're up 35 or 56 it doesn't look good....We all want to win, that's for sure....not sure how irked we should be while we are winning...regardless of who the qb is....

What games have you been watching?

Thompson is hitting 74% of his passes, and he has the highest QBR in college football. Let me repeat: The highest QBR in college football.

He has thrown one bad pass (when it didn’t matter), and if not for penalties and trips, he would have probably 3-4 50 + yard additional TDs. His “Drives to TD Ratio” so far is right up there with any QB in Texas history.

If that’s not good enough for you, can you explain what would be?

Card's time will come. Right now is Thompson's time. He is moving the ball, scoring points and winning games. But, that could also change in an instant.

    That was Worthy if i
My answer is the one who caught it, was the one he was throwing to.
I remember Card missing wide open receivers in the Arky game. I also remember Card was like a deer in headlights..
Thompson produces. He is not Joe Burrows and that's ok.
I am not a Card hater. He's got real potential. Its just not his turn yet. He has shown he is not ready for primetime. But he better be ready next year. Thompson may not be here.
    We need the wins now.

Never said CT was a bad QB, what I said was that Card is better and we should be playing him and getting more experience. Card will take us to the next level, Ct wont.
I will pull for either qb that is in the game
There are a lot more open receivers under Sark, which is great.
The offense will help both qbs.
Throwing an interception and taking a fg attempt off the table did not hurt us in the Tech game, but a bad decision.Ct made passes that are not going work against better defenses.

We will be playing better defenses than Rice and Tech. I opine only Kansas has a worse defense than Rice and Tech.

I trust the coaches. If Sark announces tomorrow that he has come to the realization that despite the “apparent” success of CT in leading this team, that, “Card is better and we should be playing him and getting more experience.” And that, “Card will take us to the next level, Ct wont.” And that Card will start from this day forward and we just need to give him time to work through his issues and gain confidence and CT should just accept his role as backup and not make waves, then I’ll accept that and hope for the best. But if the best is we have a hotshot hometown quarterback with a cool Texas name, an “awww shucks” Texas demeanor, a rifle arm and NFL potential, but it doesn’t translate to victories, I’ll hold coach accountable. Sark was hired to win football games, not create a Texas legend.

Vol Horn 4 Life Good Bye To All The Rest!

Please tell me what part of this statistical line in which ALL QB's are rated tells you his passing game is a liability. Is it the 78% completion rate? I mean, there are those calling Peter Gardere great for 54%. Is it the 8 TD's to 2 INT's ratio? Is it the 207 passer rating? These stat's haven't come on short passes and sideline passes because he's throwing it everywhere. Also, spare me the "it was Rice and TTU" crap.

CMP ATT CMP% YDS AVG TD INT LNG RTG
    42 54 77.8 565 10.5 8 2 62 207.1

Maybe you don't like that he has led the team on 18 TD's in his 22 drives in his college career? He has not been very accurate on the long throws and that's pretty much the only weakness I see but that might develop as the year comes along but if not I can accept that.

He will eventually have a bad game and you'll be the first to say "I told you so" and will completely ignore his overall results. Like I said before the season started, if Casey is the starter then Card can develop from practice. What I saw with my own eyes in Fayettenam from Card was a kid who is not ready yet and was not leading the team at all.

I wanted Applewhite. Winning attracts more 5-star recruits than anything else. If HC is Simms in this comparison, I feel really good about going with CT.

While I would disagree with looking solely at numbers, given that a dink and dunk playset can be used by some to gin up the numbers, I DO like the TD to drives run that Casey Thompson has been on thus far...as I recall, they said 14 of 17 and then he added to that across the next few drives.

What I prefer in Casey is his willingness to tuck and run when the play breaks down. I will take the eight yards as opposed to a sack/incompletion/interception that can come with continuing to find a home run.

Look at the last game...Columbi came in and threw for more than 300 yards. Mostly on deep balls. Something like 20 yards lost on sacks as well. And while he had a good stat line as a result of those deep balls, is that really who you want to build a program around? I wouldn't. I want some balance.

Card's time will come. But right now, he is learning from watching. Watching and winning beats learning on the job and taking a beating.

I'm not saying we should have run up the score, I just wish we could have run a more normal offense. We've won consecutive blowouts and our backups have thrown, what, 2 combined passes?

I agree we should play as if we're trying to win a game and the score is tied. Like Lou Holtz said it's our job to score and it's a defenses job to stop us. It's preparing the second team to be starters

I understand Rice and Tech's defenses looks really bad now AFTER playing Texas, but they were nowhere near that bad before.

I hope this will be a common problem for defenses after they play Texas from here on out.

I'm not comparing Hudson to Simms. I think Simms was prototypical qb and he and Cory Redding were the number 1 players coming out of high school on offense and defense. Not playing Hudson Card is not the same thing as not playing Chris Simms....but I get it, here's the not-so-hyped qb that's winning, so let's leave him in there. I admire Casey like everyone else here. An example of sticking with your team and waiting for your opportunity unlike Tate Martell that will be transferring from college to college until he has run out of eligibility....

When Casey has a game — probably this weekend or next, or both — in which he hits one or more 50+ bombs, I will be eager to see the feedback on this board regarding his proficiency.

In the last two games, these long TD passes failed to materialize:

JWhitt - Drops a likely TD pass.

X Man - Was either interfered with or tripped, twice. Both plays would have been long TD passes.

Marcus Washington - Trips on the turf, costing CT still another long TD pass.

Trust me. These long plays are coming. Such flukes will end, probably this weekend.

Well, one thing I think is refreshing is that unlike in years past, other teams are making OUR quarterback look like a Heisman candidate instead of the other way around.

I think it's more like other teams are making our RB look like a Heisman candidate.
Or perhaps it's our team doing that. ;)

This morning on The Horn, Jeff Howe reported that CT is 10 of 11 passing on 3rd downs, 9 of those completions going for a 1st down. This is more important to me than hitting the long ball.

While agree those things will eventually even out, it won't happen against purple kryptonite. I could be just the opposite. You have to remember we lost last year on a ridiculous fumble by Ingram on the goal line.

True. But the fumble was really on Herman. It happened right in front of me at DKR. I was screaming to my grandson that Ingram needed to be taken out of the game after the long run during which he got caught. (The dude is slow.) He was spent. But rather than call a time out, our genius head coach at the time gave him the ball two more times. Heck, he could hardly breathe. That level of coaching stupidity is difficult to comprehend.

Regardless, I think CT will put up some points and be impressive Saturday against the horny toads.

The fumble happened due to Ingram's idiotic decision to expose the ball on 1st&goal
Has there ever been a negative play that wasn't the result of bad coaching for you?

    I agree with dukesteer here.
Not only was Ingram winded but IIRC he was also slightly limping after the play before.
Yes, Ingram should have protected the ball.
But he shouldn't have been in there to begin with.

There is no Qb battle. It is over

I am curious as to how many people who don’t live in Travis county voted for HC
