So he talks about Breya being able to step in immediately at UCLA. What about here? We'll have LaTasha, but is she a post? Who else would she be competing with? I suppose the point about her being a west coast girl carries some weight, but I think we could be an attractive destination.
It's a good thing we have coach Phillips because she has many many connections on the west coast and is well respected on that side of the country. If there is any recruiter who can get her it's coach Phillips
That team may prove interesting in the coming years. Good recruiting, they hate us, and we'll be in the same conference. Bring it on!
And is visiting Texas this weekend: Breya Cunningham, nation’s No. 4 overall prospect in 2023, enjoys reunion with Te-Hina Paopao on Oregon Ducks visit Cunningham is set to visit Texas this weekend and is still planning trips to UConn, Duke and Notre Dame.
Cori Allen is good friends (and now teammates at Monteverde Academy in Florida) with Texas 2022 commit, Jordana Codio:
Jordyn Byrd took an official visit to Texas a few weeks; all her photos were with volleyball team, so I don't think she'll be playing basketball in college:
Yes she is a Vball recruit at the next level. Mendelson (?) is a vball/bball player at the next level from Utah. I know JE would like her as she’s a super elite vball player (MB) but idk if she’s on Vic’s radar.
I believe Mendelson's mother is from Austin. While Mendelson is really, really good at both basketball and volleyball, it seems like volleyball may be her main sport. She made the USA teams in both sports, which is quite remarkable. The Wootten top-150 camp is this weekend, which I'm pretty sure both Allen and Cunningham are attending.
It’ll take a really understanding basketball coach. It would cost them a scholarship (not volleyball) and they wouldn’t have them until mid/late December. Risk of injury doesn’t seem super high in volleyball but it can happen. It’s hard to make that work.
Agreed. At the rate we are currently recruiting, I can't see giving up a scholarship for a part-time player.
Takeaways from the Wooten Top 150 - Jr All-Star Basketball (jrallstar.com) Quick take 3 – Post players are almost extinced, but when you get a good post player – man they’re really good. I’m talking Breya Cunningham. I didn’t want to spend much of this article talking about players… maybe just handing out some MVP’s… but she was so good. It gave me hope for posts, because I really haven’t seen one as good as her recently. Usually most tall kids who are ranked high, I’ve been somewhat under impressed by. However, shoutout to Breya Cunningham. She’ll keep the hope alive for teams playing a true center. I’ve given up personaly, but others will continue to search for the holy grail.
Can someone refresh my memory? I thought she was recruited by the previous coach but was perhaps not such a great fit with the current. Is she being recruited by Vic?
