It’s on Netflix. Korean media bursts onto the global streaming series scene in a big way with Squid Game. Some shadowy corporation give debtors a chance to play deadly versions of Korean childhood games against a bunch of other debtors for a chance to win big $$$$$. There’s a sort of Roman Gladiator-like element to it.
Very well done. Good acting, characters, and story. Very violent. It has a dystopian and negative feel to it, but the lead actor and a few others bring some level of hope. Probably ok for youths 13+ who aren’t too sensitive. Did I mention it is very violent…?
IMHO Korea bumps up their media to a near-Japan level with this one.
