The critical comments from various posters- many of whom peaked athletically prior to pubes sprouting- cracks me up. I suspect the tendency to find fault with comments/demeanor of someone like Ojomo is highly correlated with finding fault with Sarkisian and any other coach. One of the the following is true- Hornfans has the greatest collection of incredibly gifted athletes/coaches posing as posters or the biggest collection of “know it alls.”
I think he was. Not everyone expresses their anger by tossing chairs/cussing people out. Ojomo is a cerebral dude. His statement about the counter was an indictment of the defensive scheme. He tempered that later in the interview, when he spoke of execution. But, to me, the message was clear.
Okay. I watched a different interview than you did, apparently. Just like asking someone for a good restaurant suggestion. Totally subjective.
this is the way I took it too. He kinda set himself up for that gotcha question there but he is smart enough to know not to admit it was a failure of preparation (coach K) .,,, so something something execution..,,
Salesman (name the player) in a sales meeting 10 yrs from now- The account that we had locked up and thousands of employees depend on to feed their families, well, we let it get away. I know, the VP of their manufacturing operations told us all the contract was ours, wrapped up tight. But we totally **** the bed on this one. But let me say this, colleagues. I am blessed and happy, and unaffected. I know you'll take comfort in that.
Yeah, that's what ought to happen. Or, maybe their sorry asses just get shitcanned. Yep, that would be more appropriate.
We have already shitcanned everybody 5x over from the place kicker all the way to the Head coach. There’s no one left to **** can!
Superlative analogy because this is exactly like a loss in a college rivalry football game - practically the same thing with family starvation in the balance and everything! You have persuaded me to re-examine my cavalier take on this matter and I am now become LIVID at this perversion of a loser football program! What do I do now, kick a small animal, put my fist thru the sheetrock? help me out
Whatever you do, don't go back to living your life as normal. You must remember that the world has shifted because a group of teenagers didn't play a game to our lofty standards. And, even worse, it appears that they have the gall to want to continue living their lives.
Well, actually, the world hasn't shifted at all. In fact, its the same sickening result that has consistently occurred over the past 20+ years (OU kicking our ***). I'm not advocating for the kicking of dogs or punching of walls, but instead of "Jesus and my mom love me, so its all good", how about expressing some genuine frustration, irritation, dare I say anger? Some tangible confirmation that this means as much to you as it does to us bleeders of burnt orange.
Because expressing this sentiment makes it okay for some around here to paint YOU as a degenerate who is being a big meanie to these "kids". Shame on you. Even though Sabre mentioned that each game brings in $12M-$14M, it really should all be about unicorns, lollipops, and rainbows for these poor teenagers.
Now we're getting to the meat on the bone folks The angry mob wants anger! I am pissed and I want you pissed, otherwise you clearly don't care because only angry men win ball games blah blah thus sayeth Saint Darrell amen I had a working theory about colder, non-Texas climates contributing to this phenom but alas it appears it may be universal
So you, posting disgust and vitriol on a forum (behind a keyboard, as some have said) are more invested than the kids who are out there playing, who you are targeting? Really? Get a life. How has your week changed due to this setback?
Ok: I think I see the problem. I care passionately about UT football. But at some point I decided that how I feel is my choice and being miserable over the outcome of a football game was not fair to my wife and kids. I'll be smiling and fun Saturday after the game ...more energetic after a Longhorns win maybe. I'm not going to be a miserable grouch nor tolerate well the company of a miserable grouch. I want the Horns to get better and win more and I'm willing to forward ideas for improvement. But mostly I'll be a fan..an observer not a responsible party. Taking it more seriously might b e good for you ...but it looks kinda weird to me.
The old "Get a life" response. Classic! Disgust, yes. Vitriol, no. Targeting kids? You must have me confused with someone else. My week is not as good as it could have been because the team I care passionately about once again lost to their most hated rival. Not really sure how this is relevant, but this is a discussion forum. I use a computer (fully equipped with keyboard) to communicate on this forum. To post my thoughts, I don't need to be more emotionally invested than the players, just invested in general. Don't like it? Good for you, keep on steppin'.
You won't find a post of mine doing personal attacks on players, but these players are not kids. They are young, but adults like many others who perform much more serious jobs across the world than playing football. To me personal attacks are uncalled for but criticisms of performance and behavior are perfectly fine. I'm not defending any comment, just pointing out these players are not kids.
I have tried pointing that out over the years only to get lambasted. They are just poor little kids, you meanie.
Same here, but at some point a losing culture has to be addressed doesn't it? Don't think for a moment that my life hinges on what 19yos do on a football field. Not even close. But if you believe in accountability then "mommy and Jesus loves me, so I'm good" is as far from accountable as it gets. Losing doesn't mean jack to some of these guys. That's a big issue
I don’t know what Ojomo could have said or done to make this all right. you want him to puke in a trash can on live TV? Macho cry? Stomp on a kitten? Put his head in an oven? to show he is a winner and demonstrate he really hates losing! I am sure he’d probably much rather have stayed in the locker room pUking in a trash can. But the coaches picked him to go out there and answer reporters’ stupid questions and I am sure he was instructed to give coachspeak non answers as much as possible. And act composed. Clearly he should have done this instead:
So, only your method is the right way to be a fan and react what to what players say after a loss like this? You pass judgment on others when they don't follow suit with you? Okay.
Well what seriously would have satisfied you? I am not judging you or telling you how to act. You want to hate and call them losers ok. You do you. But you know whatever they say for us to a reporter on TV means nothing. What really matters happens in the locker room, weight room, practice field, etc etc If Ojomo had broken a chair over that reporter’s head, it would have been nothing but theater.
You do you. Finally, some non-******** from you. But hey, if ******** is your thing, then by all means you keep doing you.
