Evidently many more emails came to light.

Ive heard a lot of bad things about him over the years. Probably way overdue.

None of the alleged comments were made while an NFL employee nor are there indicators of him being problematic with staff or players...and, nobody seems to be claiming he was WRONG about Goodell or Sam, they just think it was mean words. The reality is that pressure WAS applied to draft Michael Sam. And Goodell HAS sought to pussify the league. And just for good measure...what DO those SJW's clamoring for the firing think the Q stood for in the alphabet soup ANYHOW?

The ripple effects of this nonsense of going back multiple years HAS to stop.

Sad thing for the players is that, aside from the Bears game, they actually looked like a team with realistic playoff hopes. Those are gone now.

And, I now have to completely revisit the next few weeks in Circa Survivor since I am NOT going to use a team with a cluster*ck in the front office since all of the prior metrics are no longer valid once a new coach comes into the equation. This holds true even if the interim comes from within...

I would just say that in this day and age, regardless of the circumstances and not withstanding the alleged pussification of the league, one cannot send emails that contain such controversial takes or opinions. To do so is to be brain dead, tone deaf, and self absorbed to the max. That would pretty much describe Gruden, who had been inexplicably and undeservedly put on a pedestal for years.

You couldn't put that in email in 2021 but also not in 2011. Certainly it wasn't ESPN policy to allow their corporate email to be leveraged in the way Gruden leveraged it either.

These are the type of things HR hunts for the moment someone makes a decision to terminate your employment.

Can't believe someone would say or type that nonsense. Even 50 plus years ago, not acceptable. I'm against firing someone for past actions. But from a personal perspective gruden is pure trash

There was a lot of inappropriate remarks by Gruden but the most egregious infraction might be that Bruce Allen (President of WFT) pressured the cheerleading team to take topless pictures. Those pictures were then shared back and forth with Gruden.

What's your first reaction if someone sent YOU a topless picture to your work account? At a minimum, everyone here would likely delete it...maybe alert your boss/HR that it was unsolicited? Gruden evidently chose to comment on the pictures like the outstanding human he is.

I suspect the league coerced Davis into forcing Gruden to make a decision. It had to be some manner of external coercion given that the conduct did not occur while subject to NFL guidelines.

Al Davis is rolling over in his grave at what a spineless individual Mark is. I had the misfortune of having to sit next to Mark at an Aces game a few years ago. Almost made Cal McNair seem competent...

Lost in all of this is the reality that Gruden still basically got $30M of his contract. He won't be hurting for money and will probably be guest hosting very shortly with a number of the NFL-specific programs that are not on the 'worldwide leader' or other networks with NFL contracts...

His choice was to resign, be paid what was owed on his contract and retain benefits, or be fired and get zilch. As far has him coming around in the future in any position, it may happen, but I would not place my money on it.

I doubt he gets the balance of the contract or benefits going forward...but it was a 10 year contract for $100M, some of which was front-loaded.

As to programming, I believe you underestimate JUST how many paying slots there are that are not on the couple of networks most think of when it comes to the NFL. He may not resurface this year but he will be on camera next year, even if just via Zoom from the house that is paid for as he swims in the $30M he ALREADY collected on the Raiders contract...

I doubt he walked away with the $70M he was owed. It's doubtful we'll ever get the details but I'm certain some sort of severance package was agreed upon. $70M is a lot of enchiladas to walk away from even with a "morals" clause in his contract.

I'd wager that the Raiders agreed to pay him for the remainder of the 2021 season ($10m/yr) to get him to go away.

I'd wager that we won't be the only one wagering...he is now able to speak freely with people like Brent AND also parlay his football knowledge at the counter (or on the app if he chose to simply bet from home). Remember that Brent is not only the voice of the Raiders but ALSO was instrumental in the founding of VSIN!

Better yet for Chucky is that Nevada lacks a State income tax...

Yes, provided he keeps NV as his state of domicile there. Since he won't be traveling with the team to other states, the "duty day" rule doesn't apply (he won't be working in other states as a head coach) from this point forward. If he goes to another state someday in the future as an analyst or commentator, then he's working and considered taxable on the amount of money he was paid for that day. Some states grant a business people to be in their jurisdiction for a day and not be taxable, others provide longer periods. Depends on the state in question.

Hated those rules when I worked for Accenture. I'd travel to Chicago for a few weeks and end up having to pay state taxes and file state income taxes there.

The topless cheerleader stuff is down right crappy. But if the jock sniffers on ESPN or others ever spent any time in a collegiate or professional locker room, they’d want the sport canceled. Politically incorrect private emails pail in comparison to *** chewing a I’ve received or the banter between grown men.

Yep! that's how it works. One of my employers would send me and solimes a couple of us tax guys to offices around the country sometimes for as long as a week for meetings, peer reviews and other tax projects. They would prep our tax state returns and reimburse us the state taxes assessed, but I had to have a series of meetings with the partners to finally get them to agree to take that step. They didn't want to do it, and it took a lot of persuasion.

Washington Football Team quickly announces they are retiring Sean Taylor's #21 this coming Sunday. Something usually planned weeks or months ahead of time, not on 3 days' notice. Sean deserves better than this.

Meanwhile, for everyone who thinks the Gruden leaks were just the beginning - nope. NFL has no plans to release more details from Washington Football Team investigation - CNN The NFL has no plans to release any other details of the investigation at all. It's very clear they are NOT a neutral party here. I don't have a ton of sympathy for Gruden, but lots of other people should obviously be taken down too, plenty of whom did and said worse - but I guess none of them insulted Goodell, so they'll all get a pass.

and then check this out - "Plenty of people around Raiders owner Mark Davis believe that the NFL is trying to find a way to get rid of him … and they have told Davis that". It looks like all the NFL investigations are just covers for putting NFL agendas into effect and then pretending that the investigations were the reason.

Back when I was bowling professionally, I would have to go through the steps of figuring out if I owed anything, but by the time expenses were factored in, I didn't have much of a hit...and THAT was written off under the IRS rules of the time.

As relates to Gruden, if he is on a podcast appearing remotely, it would be far more of a challenge to assert that the income came from work in another jurisdiction. I don't really envision Chucky moving from Nevada unless the idiots who vote in that State actually succeeded in keeping Spicy in office. Of course, if that occurs, you will ALSO see quite the real estate crash in that State...

This is why you don't get caught up in moral panics or bow to angry mobs. There's much bigger things at work and powerful people will use your selected and contrived outrage to do what they already wanted to do. Not an endorsement of Gruden, just a warning.

Gruden gets fired, and rightfully so, yet multiple players with serial drug offenses and assaults continue to collect NFL paychecks.

Yeah, years ago when I worked for PwC in state taxation, each year some of us had to go out to the Cowboy's HQ and review the data from the season to determine the number of "Duty Days" and the amount of each players income taxable in a particular state, and for many of the players, also determine the amount of tax they would owe on that income deemed earned and taxable in each. Many, but not all, states use the "Duty Days" method to determine the amount of income earned and taxable in their state, some having a different determination others let it go, but those are in the minority. Also, it's a state tax matter and not a federal issue since the feds tax all income earned no matter which state the athlete actually performed in to earn the money. Since state taxes are a deduction and not a credit, now the amount deductible is limited to $10,000 each year for individuals.

I don't see Gruden moving as well. Nevada has no tax on income, only a franchise tax similar to Texas, on businesses which is like 2% of the adjusted gross amount. Vagus is also struggling due to the pandemic (I understand a person can, (or could), pick up a really nice house in Vagus for very little). It's a nice climate there as well, and the desert is great for hiking and to explore. Just don't go digging holes in it.

Sadly, the market has not cratered out there...still too much cash flowing from CA and, from what I hear, CCP. I still get a daily update of new listings, but market is still over-priced. The real crash will be when the moratoriums are finally all dead and stinking and the deadbeats can be tossed and the foreclosure markets heat up...then it will be a buying season like we have not seen since 2008.

I know I would do better with a house for my purchasing dollar, but I don't want to have to worry about whether my copper wiring and pipes are still in the house when I travel. But at the moment, houses are still more expensive than Houston and Austin by a bunch...

Got it in more than Houston, but Austin? That’s hard to fathom.
