Which is more offensive? If "eyes of Texas", maybe we should change our alma mater to "Brown Sugar".

Any reason for this particular comparison? I missing the relevance. I think the better comparison is the rap music they play on official football program videos and during the game that is demeaning to women, to say the least.

I can understand why people aren't fans of Brown Sugar, but is it worse than raps and "music" about gangstas shooting cops and beating their hos that our pop culture celebrates? No.

The problem with wokeness is that the outrage is highly selective for political purposes. It is fundamentally dishonest. 95% of folks are not equipped enough to point out the dishonest reframing that they push.

This is a much bigger issue on the Left. However, I must also admit that some on the Right have the same problem when they hail Ted Nugent. It's hard to demonize Cardi B as too raunchy if you're ok with Wang Dang Sweet Poontang.

And for the record, the filthiest music I've ever heard wasn't rap or any kind of booty-shakin' music. It was a David Allan Coe CD that a friend played in the car while we were diving to Port A back in 2001. I didn't know they made country music that foul, and it sounded out of place. It was like hearing an opera singer singing dirty lyrics. Something just sounded wrong about it.

David Allen Coe even had a song with the N word in it.

Do people on the right hail Ted Nugent for his craptastic music and lyrics or his views on the 2nd Amendment and other conservative viewpoints? I couldn't give a crap about him, really, except he is a big voice against the 99% of the remainder of the music business and Hollyweird.

I think country folk are actually less racist than their urban counterparts. However, I think Garmel would agree that the song at issue is pretty much impossible to defend.

What I heard was 100 times worse than anything in that song. Yes, there was a song with the N-bomb about his woman dumping him for a black dude, but there was also stuff celebrating incest, group sex, and other crap in very profane and explicit terms. 2Live Crew would blush. I felt like taking a shower after it was over, which is why I knew Garmel would dig it. lol

The point, of course, is the media would, if they haven't already, deride DAC and Nugent, while ignoring the vulgarity and hypocrisy in the WAP and other ridiculous "songs".

They don't, but liberals can play that game too if they want to.

They do. Otherwise despicable human beings like Barbra, Madonna, Springsteen, Cher, I mean, does Dion have enough bandwidth for me to list all the losers who speak out and are applauded for it and considered to be worthy of respect in what they say?

That was a long sentence. You get the point.

Never liked DACoe myself and, by in large, I like country music, well lots of it but some of the new stuff not so much.

I had never actually listened to the lyrics except for the chorus.
I am surprised it was bashed before now.

I wish that Mick would sing "the Eyes" in the style of "Dead Flowers" or "I cant get no satisifaction".

My uber conservative brother in law worked some event that Nugent shot a bunch of wild hogs out of a helicopter in. He is not a fan of his treatment of people.
