Anyone else watching this on the SEC network? Tennessee vs. Mississippi. Ugh. Game stopped for 20 minutes because of fans throwing bottles and golf balls onto the field, protesting a call.

    Welcome to the SEC.

It was a welcome back party for Lane K. Not saying what happened was right, but *somewhat* understandable when you look at the details of his departure. He tried to gut the program

When your own cheerleaders, band and dance team have to exit the building before the game ends you’re probably doing it wrong

Knoxville = the Cleveland of the South.

This is Big 10 country, Cleveland Browns, or New York Jets type of fan behavior.

Maybe worse. More like Millwall in London, England.

What happened didn't seem to have much to do with Kiffin.

I watched the game. All I could think about was how come Thompson can’t/want run like OleMiss QB Matt Corral. Top passer in FBS. He could take up the middle for 10 yards all day long. Except on 4th and 4. If Corral hadn’t run, Ole Miss would have Lost. Just like we did last two weeks. And CT is not close to being able to pass like Corral.

IDK. Until yesterday he was way up the FBS passer ratings chart. This, with one of the weakest OLs in the FBS, and a very mediocre WR room. Put him behind Ole Miss’ OL and give him their receivers, and let’s see what he can do.

Has Tennessee had these kinds of fan problems before? Seems like it's over-the-top for Vols fans. Must be Kiffen-related.

No, I've never seen anything like this and yes it was all Kiffen related.

All three of my sons went to Tennessee so I’ve been to several games there. They are generally a fun crowd to be in. I always wore Texas gear and got ribbed a few times but it was all in fun. I even got in a wrestling match with their mascot Smokey (not the dog but the costumed one). Lots of fun. But they get a lot more intense when playing teams like Alabama or Florida. They have a special place in their heart for Kiffen though.

A call they didn't like is Kiffen's fault?

No, it was the fumble recovery for a touchdown that was called back because the refs said the QB was in the grasp...bull ****. It was the Ole Miss players who constantly laid on the ground faking injuries every single time Tennessee had a drive going. It was the 4th down spot. It was a lot of things all piled up throughout the game all focused into the hatred of Lane Kiffen at the end of the game...and I mean hatred.

I'm not excusing what happened, I'm just saying I've never seen that happen before.

That's the one that immediately preceded the fandom debacle, and it was the right call.

Yeah, you know how little I talk about Tennessee and never argue about the SEC obsession and hatred from everyone on this board over the years. This obsession is another reason why I said moving to the SEC is a bad idea, but I digress.

He was Phil's replacement, came in with a coaching pedigree, hyped up the University then embarrassed them. This ******* blew in, talked **** to everyone in conference for a few months then ran out like a little ***** at the worst possible time. It was almost like when the Colts moved to Indy but worse leaving the program in complete shambles and scrambling.

There are people on here who still talk **** about what Charlie did to screw this program up after replacing Mack and he came in here and actually tried.

I will say again I do not support what happened and I am not football deranged like a lot of SEC fans. Remember when I said the reason the move to the SEC was not a good idea because when we lose we get mad but in the SEC someone dies? I was only slightly exaggerating. Lane better bring some body armor if he's still at Ole Miss in two years when he returns to Neyland.

If this continues, the way to stop drunken fans from throwing objects would be to move that game to “away” for the next home scheduled game.
I saw this and there is no excuse for a fan base to throw objects without severe repercussions.
The NCAA better get in front of this.
