Unfortunately Sark is not making the football good. In fact, we may have gotten worse. He has made some foolish mistakes. 3 terrible losses each in their own ugly manner, has made this season a complete bust.

It's the same stuff. Nothing has changed, we're just amping up the hysteria every week. Nobody likes to realize that they have no shot at anything other than minor improvements because their previous coach left them with no o-line depth and precious little quality, a defense that again has gaping holes at LB and interior line and clearly does not have the discipline to play the scheme they're being called to play, and a QB that is now being exposed for his limitations and his relative lack of experience.

Casey had a couple of great games and we just assumed he was going to be the next great QB. He isn't. Maybe he will be.

We have receivers who look great on paper but continue to drop passes at critical points, and who cannot consistently get open unless they get a mismatch.

We have edge rushers who all came in from the transfer portal from other schools because they couldn't get playing time. They were all highly recruited and they clearly have great athletic ability. So maybe these are guys who don't always play with discipline and can't be counted on to take a defense to the next level? Kind of what we're seeing from them?

And we have a coach who sees all of this and is trying to play complementary football by running the ball with a lead to keep the defense off the field, but his o-line isn't good enough to run against stacked defenses. But he's stubborn with it, which means third and longs, which means three-and-outs, which means the defense is worn out yet again.

NONE OF THESE THINGS WILL CHANGE THIS YEAR. This is what we have. We can hope for some minor improvements, but we're down to basically five functional offensive linemen right now and there's just not that much you can do with that if your offensive ID is supposed to be the run game.

Sark has two weeks to figure out a realistic approach for how this team can win games. We'll see how it goes.

Until the defense is fixed all of the tinkerings on offense will be for naught. Stop the runs between the tackles and show mix blitzes on the third downs.

Time for CDC to up the pressure to get an experienced Big XII DC as an advisor. Will it hurt K's feelings? Doesn't matter his schemes are wrong and he keeps making the same in-game mistakes.

He's a bad coach. By now we should see progress but he has nothing. It's obvious.

Vol, judging by his overall record he is average to above average. His system does not and will not work in the Big XII no matter how many 5 Stars he has to work with. He will survive this season, but, unless he gets some Big XII experienced help, he will not survive next season.

All he has to do is call Robinson (scheme) and Bradley (back 6,7,8). Sabre will give him the telephone numbers.

very thoughtful post. I have questions and no answers. How is it that Baylor can rebuild to have a competitive team in a couple of years while we cannot? How can a little
know and attended school in Stillwater attract players and we cannot?

I do not understand how we have a roster with this little talent in the OL and DL
Again this year with football only half over and we are asking when does hoops start.

When Strong got here we heard "Mack left the cupboards bare". When Herman got here we heard "Charlie left the cupboards bare". Now Sark is here and we hear "Herman left the cupboards bare". Q: What's the common denominator in all these scenarios? A: A "football" program that has lost sight of its fundamental priority.

While I don’t believe that the cupboard was bare (the default excuse), I do believe that we are seriously deficient “particularly” in two position groups: OL & WR. I’m not saying that the LB room is deep or strong, but to me the bigger deficiency issue is on the other side of the ball.

I have been very critical of the D for much of the year, including last week. Yesterday, I thought that they acquired themselves quite well although they were not facing a particularly intimidating offense. To me, the issue yesterday was the inability of our O to get anything going in the second half. Any defense asked to stop the bleeding after four consecutive three and outs will be pushed to the limit and eventually break. That happened yesterday. The defense simply wore out because they got no help from the offense.

Aside from the obvious — a weak OL, I don’t think Sark’s playcalling was particularly effective in the second half. They have to do better, but he has to do better as well. I also believe as mentioned earlier that Casey may have been hurt by one of those hits. He wasn’t the same QB we have been watching. But he will be back…

I agree that Casey absolutely must have been hurt by the hit in which he was driven into the ground. I feel like if we do that we get called for a foul, but that is beside the point. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if he has cracked ribs from that hit.

I hate that I am being so negative but this is where I am right now. It changed for me over these last two games. Two serious gut punches and I am sure the team is hurting far more than us. However, I just don't see how this team figures it out before Baylor, WVU, and ISU how to block. And these games are all on the road against opponents entirely motivated to kick our asses out of the Big 12.

I've posted this before, but I feel like the Baylors/Techs/TCUs/SMUs/Houstons of the world are stuck with three star players who know they're three stars but still put on the pads and give it 110%. They're happy if a 4 star gives them a shot. So their team is set. They'll never make the playoff/win the conference, but they "know their role" and go out to win as many games as they can. However, Texas/OU/A&M get the better recruits but they have been stars/started and expect so at their new location. Things don't go right, they're headed to some other place they can play. The good ones are gone after 3 seasons to the NFL draft. These "better" programs I listed for reference therefore need to solidly recruit top-10 classes with 5s and 4s (of course, there's always 3s) consistently for about 5-6 years where they can handle defections/injuries/arrests/etc. Texas is not there yet. This season has been disappointing but Sark's offense (maybe like Leach's) will bring that talent to that side of the ball. Heck, OU basically outscores everyone, although their defense is looking better this year than it has in the recent past. Just my take.

Pretty reasonable questions and it goes to the fact that all three of those coaches lost the plot when it came to recruiting along the o and d line. That is borne out by outcome, by recruiting results, and by results on the field. Recruiting rankings are nice but they don't reflect whether a group recruited well strategically and addressed needs. If you stock up on skill guys but only pick one or two POTENTIAL impact linemen (meaning either one or neither pans out), then you have either failed to plan your recruiting class, or you have not executed on that plan.

It's not about the cupboard being bare, as suggested earlier. It's about not having a plan to field a strong team across the board. That's where the failure in recruiting has taken place. I don't think it's a "how come those guys can do it and we can't question" because it has nothing to do with program size or quality. it has everything to do with managing your roster. Herman was smart enough to do it and failed, either because he had an OL coach who did not recruit (which has been the consensus from what I've read) or he just thought he could develop mediocre linemen into top tier ones (which he did not accomplish.)

I have watched every Texas game for over 50 years, and NEVER, yes I said "NEVER", have I seen FOUR OL standing along the line of scrimmage looking back as their QB gets mauled - they touched NOBODY!

Someone that loves stats please tell me how many sustained drives we've had so far this year. We are a "homerun" offense - long passes, long runs. While they are exciting and I love those, how about some sustained drives? Also, run the TE trap once for ?? yards and never run it again.

As I have posted before, K's defense then goes into "soft zone" coverage that Stevie Wonder can find the holes in.

I love the 4-3, but agreed to support the 3-4 to get better, but we don't have the talent to fill "3" much less "4"; neither do we have the talent to fill "2" nor "3". Is there such a thing as a 0-0-11?

At this point give me ELEVEN WINNERS; kids that want to win and know how to win, and put them out there.

Yeah. He was a really good head coach with a really good offense coordinator (Greg Davis). We ran them off.

My hope is that we’re patient with this one. This team reminds me of Mack’s first year

I have known Greg Davis since he was in middle school, and at NO point has anyone other than Mack Brown considered him "good". Predictable? Absolutely, but above average or even average, NO
