I think he needs time, and I think he will be the guy.

I also think it is interesting that some of the same people who railed on me last week for telling it like it was are now...telling it like it is. I guess it's okay now to talk **** about the coach and players.

    :rolleyes1:

Sark can be as good as Royal given time and a head-bashing if the defense isn't fixed.

Do you think some of these teams beating us have good backups at every position?
    Let me help....

I agree with dawg post. I am in support of sark. Let’s give him time. We are a couple of plays away from being 6 and 1. We are scoring plenty of points to win games and that’s with a mediocre and lack of depth off. Line. Casey is doing a good job. If you notice he rarely has a clean pocket to throw from. Robinson is the best back in the country and possibly the best back we have ever had and that’s saying a lot. I have never seen anyone cut like him and have incredible balance and strength .
The defense played fine for 3 quarters but wore down as usual. Part of that was due to several 3 and outs by offense but part is a strength and cond. issue and lack of depth. It happens every game. It was obvious in the ou game. Also, after the ou collapse I really expected the defense to come out at home and play well and with a lot of emotion. Although they played fine for 3 quarters, I did not see the fire or emotion I expected. We lack leadership on that side of the ball. We are not aggressive and play not to lose. Also, ok st offense is nothing special this year.
The off line also wore down. We need to look at our strength and cond. program.
    We don’t finish games.

4 3 and outs in a row yesterday is killer to a D both mentally and physically. Play calling has been suspect at best in these situations. Tech game we just kept the pedal down, but these last 2 games, we've been running inside on every first down on these drives leaving us behind the sticks. I hope Sark learns that this D can't hold onto leads unless they get rest and he needs to continue to call the same plays he did to build the lead in the first place. And this OLine isn't going to hold up on 3rd and 8, so you better mix in the pass on 1st down or it's a slow death to the finish line.

This is what kills me. It appeared that the calls in the 3 and out series were NOT to assure a first down on the first series. Get the first down to avoid 3 and out and then call what ever you want. Run to the edge and run Bijan at least 2 times to get that first first down.

its okay to talk **** about coaches. They get paid lots. I have a hard time telling a D1 Linebacker or any other position at Texas playing his *** off, he is a Loser.

On the last osu td it looked in real time on tv as if the defense just stood there.
I haven't watched on replay, has anyone else?

It is Flood’s responsibility to go get some good OL through the portal this off season. He is “earning” too much to be complacent about it. If the OL can just improve to an average level, Bijan will run wild, our QB will have time to pick apart the D, and Sark can effectively run his entire offense—for all four quarters.

Yes, I think we let them score there so that we could get the ball back.

I told people watching the game with me that that’s what we needed to do. Joel Klatt said same thing and said it looked like that’s what happened as well. Smart move, it at least gets you the ball back with 2 minutes and a chance to tie.

    It was 54 seconds.
But I iunderstand that in theory there was a chance
Too bad the D couldn't have sacked the QB, or forced them to a field goal with maybe 25 secs left

Which is more realistic? To get to FG range or to score a TD AND 2 ?

No, the OSU drive for TD took 54 seconds. There was 2:18 remaining.

Edit: After the KO, Texas had 1:57 to score.

Believe that Sark is the right coach ultimately. Some time is needed to fully implement the system and for recruiting.

It’s more than obvious now that depth in the trenches is lacking and coaches need to aggressively look in the portal for short-term solutions while winning the keystone recruits.

Perhaps there some mental toughness issues that Sark mentioned during post-game comments yesterday. However, a bigger issue may be that the guys are gassed physically in the 4th quarter, which could lead to the lack of confidence of closing the deal. It seems to be a S&C issue mentioned by others, and that coupled with the play calling on both sides of the ball are factors.

The mental issues also led to a large number of penalties. We were trending in the right direction cutting down on these earlier this year.

Finally, does anyone else think that the scoreboard/megatron is too loud?

Look, I love my music loud- but when the scoreboard operator competes with the band -plays over them all of the time and the crowd it is too much!

The band sounds like they are playing with a blanket over them, or a sock stuffed in their instrument once the blaring scoreboard board relents from its nonstop noise.

Can Chris Del Conte get this fixed once and for all!?!

I invite you to watch the post game press conference. There is a huge "coach speak" message there. Sark has never been exposed to that at any of his stops, and you can lay the problem clearly at the feet of Tom Herman. I appreciate Sark's candor, message, and "presentation". I feared that might be a problem, but he confirmed it.

I sit in the West side lower deck. After the game, the oSu band (seated in northeast upper deck) drowned out The Eyes of Texas.

Are you saying that last year's BLM movement is still going? Or are you saying that Herman took apart the team so badly that they're fragile?

Maybe KSU at home. Maybe. All other road games are losses. This team just doesn't have the will to win on the road. Any failures seem to cause an implosion.

    Watched the presser
Sark is not wrong. We WERE playing good football, both sides in both games.
He talked about the psyche as in what happens and how to prevent it.
I don't think he knew then how to correct , right after the game
You have to admit it is strange, to deflate at the same point in 2 games that you were winning.
    I know he will try.

It's Sabre's fault. I'm going with that until someone shows me evidence to the contrary.

********. Herman would have also lost to TCU and would have been 3-4. Bijan would have 400 fewer rushing yards and the defense would still be lousy.

For those who agree with the premise of the thread title I have a question.

What was Mack Brown's record his first season here?

Remember, Mack inherited a top notch o line in front of a guy named Ricky. Mack had a first year QB. Mack had a weak defense. Mack inherited upper classmen who were SWC champs and Big XII champs before shitting the bed in 1997, so he had guys who knew how to win.

Sark has less to work with than Mack Brown, especially on the offensive line and in terms of a winning culture. And Mack went 8-5 and everybody was ecstatic.

If you were not pissing and moaning midway through 1998 saying Mack's honeymoon is over, why are you saying it about Sark now?

EDIT: Mack went 9-3, not 8-5. I think the overall thesis still stands.

Mack went 9-3 his first season. I agree, the oline and defense left behind by Herman was terrible, he'd certainly have lost to TCU and wouldn't have even competed with OU. At least Sark is getting us into position to win, hopefully with more time to recruit he can finish those games off.

Maybe it's true Herman wouldn't have done as well. I wish he'd have given himself the chance by not turning the program into a circus during covid/blm....Glad Sark is here, just need to be patient with him for a few years so he can build a solid team.
