Totalitarian risk? The left promotes widespread censorship of opposing viewpoints. I don't remember a time in the past where the good guys were the ones destroying free speech.

Gotta take issue with you, Coach. The role that Democrats tend to want the Supreme Court to take coupled with the attempt to pack the Court is a bigger totalitarian threat than any advocated by any serious person of the Right (including Trump, assuming we call him serious). The same is true of true anti-racism advocates. I don't mean people who want to talk about slavery in schools are truly opposed to racism as the term is traditionally defined and used. I mean Ibram X. Kendi and people who buy into his policy agenda, which he doesn't hide. It is more totalitarian than any of the leaders you mentioned.

Hey...Joe on the street advocating a radical idea is more totalitarian than an actual leader of a developing country. What? David Dukes would be totalitarian but I'm confident enough to bet my house that he'll never be in a position of power to implement his ideas. Erdogen, Bolsonaro etc. are already IN power executing their ideas. It's a false equivalency, IMHO. If you don't like the inclusion of David Duke as a counter to Ibrahim X. Kendi...grab nearly any Evangelical leader who would gladly advocate government controls in favor of their biblical views.

Equating governing with "totalitarianism" have become a bit cliche. Not saying you did that, @Mr. Deez, rather it's become a crutch for what are often weak arguments.

Except that packing the court was never going to happen. The far left only spoke of it. Much like the far right talk about revolution these days.

And, to be fair, when it went from 6 to 7 to 9 was pure politics, and not some authoritarian movement. It eventually migrated to 9 to be in sync with the federal judicial districts. There are 12 now. I'm not advocating for adding justices I'm just pointing out the arbitrary history. And, 90 years after building a nation and 230 years are not dissimilar.

And, to make the change to SCOTUS would require Congressional action and has occurred multiple times in our history. Even if the # of SCOTUS judges changed, it would be done through 100% Democratic means.

It isn't remotely close to happening with Biden as POTUS. It was merely are histrionic response to the McConnel SCOTUS manipulation. Not sure how adding SCOTUS judges was any different than some of the historically unique decisions that McConnel made with the same end goal as the D's, ensure ideological control of the SCOTUS.

How can the court be an independent branch (regardless of its ideological leaning) it if it is routinely manipulated by Congress by adding or subtracting justices? Sorry to have broken your brain.

Routinely = 6 times in our history and the last change was 1869

Of course, manipulating the ideology of the court through manipulating the selection process one judge at a time has had MUCH more of an impact since 1869.

Oh, I don't disagree. I'm no advocate for expanding the court. I also think there should be some rules keeping people like McConnell from doing what he did.

In all seriousness, Wednesday is my busiest day, so I can't get to it now. However, there's a lot wrong with you all's assumptions and comparisons, and I'll respond with something more substantive (and respectful - lol) soon.

To be clear, Biden was against increasing the # of justices on the SCOTUS I'm not aware he's changed that position since he's taken office. It's disingenuous of the RNC to try to tie this to Joe Biden but it serves as a political football for them so is expected. RNC/DNC are political entities not usually accused of having integrity.

The more I think about this "save the children" crap the more disgusting it is. There are people who believe that crap. They are the Mr. Bookman of the New York Library.

Everyone but pedophiles are vehemently against child trafficking. The numbers used by some are sooooo inflated. Seriously, @AC must be counting every kid that crosses the border, every kid that runs away from home...and turns back up the next day after spending the night as friends house.

I had a HS classmate that reposted a story of a Pedophile ring working the parking lot in an Oregon Walmart parking lot. We've all likely seen the repost on Facebook. Mom claims she parked in the lot, was followed into the store or at least to her car but some mysterious guy. A group of guys were in the lot scoping out every woman and child. The woman barely makes it to the safety of her car as a guy tries to open a locked door at which point the woman calls the cops the group of pedophiles are gone by the time the cops arrive. It's a good story if people didn't fail to recognize it as fiction. Seriously, roaming gangs of pedophiles trying to kidnap children in broad daylight?

Just wondering, do you think the missing Native American women are over exaggerated too?
After the Epstein exposures I am confident their are pedophiles lurking for victims in America. I make no claims as to their number but I am certain they exist.

There is probably a REAL issue with Native American women. I think the attention to find or resolve the missing persons simply isn't as great. That's a REAL problem.

Sex trafficking of suburban children is overblown. I'm NOT saying that sex trafficking doesn't exist. Epstein and Matt Gaetz cases demonstrate it's there, especially with well off men preying on those nearly 18yr old girls. Those kids do need some support but I'm not sure it's pervasive as claimed.

Dang SH, what is too much? I don’t know if what is going on matches your definition of overblown or not but I suspect your qualifier is the ‘suburban’ identifier. My suspicion is it - sex trafficking - is much worse than either you or I can imagine.

At least one poster on her has claimed hundreds of thousands of children being abducted every year. That's not possible without extending the definition to scenarios you or I would never in a million years group with sex trafficking.

Sex trafficking should be stamped out and punished significantly. Anyone over the age of 18 that preys on someone under 18 should be punished to the full extent of the law.

When I lived in Austin in early 2000, my neighbor worked at the federal office building downtown. She said the trafficking was real bad. It’s probably 10x now.

It is a problem for runaways that are often from disadvantaged backgrounds. The number of actual child trafficking cases is more like 115/year. That was the estimate in 2012. It was 306 in 2019. The Q number is some hundreds of thousands. Sadly, it makes the whole trafficking issue look diffuse. QAnon believers think there's a vast cabal snatching up children in kidnappings, but almost every child reported missing turns out to be a runaway

These numbers are ludicrous. Hell, they're almost as ove-rinflated as Orgeron's buyout.

Facts About Human Trafficking in the US - DeliverFund.org

"In 2016, the United States State Department estimated that 57,700 people were trafficked into the country every year. 70% of those were females trafficked for sexual exploitation"

"It is estimated that between 15,000 to 50,000 women and children are forced into sexual slavery in the United States every year, and the total number varies wildly as it is very difficult to research. One study from the Department of Health and Human Services estimated the number between 240,000 and 325,000, while a report from the University of Pennsylvania put it at between 100,000 and 300,000."

Garmel, those are staggering and terrible numbers!

If DH&H Srvs. say 240-325K it is probably far in excess of that range.

You're moving the goalposts a bit, not intentionally.. @AC has specifically said hundreds of thousands of children. Throwing "women" into the mix of course increases the numbers significantly. Then you're beyond the rampant pedophilia claims but into dirty men as the culprits.
