In light of Sark's abysmal record and talk of the his seat getting white hot, I was curious how many years do you think the Head Coach of a major program should get?

Assuming they don't turn it around and start winning?

1 - if you lose to Kansas at home. Simply unacceptable. How many 4 & 5 stars are still on the roster? Can't always blame the players.

This coach we have - overpromises and underdelivers, plus that Kansas loss at home. Unacceptable. Can that sorry “all gas no brakes”.

    Poop away, morons.

Rotating through coaching staffs has really worked out well for us, hasn't it? There is a hell of a lot to be said for stability within a program, something we haven't had in a decade.

You can't look at this situation logically. This is more like when a rich person wants a new Mercedes every year. He doesn't do it because it makes financial sense, he does it because he can. Money is no object. Last time I checked, "we are the Joneses". Time to cut bait with Sark.

Are you planning to put up any part of the $25MM to cut that bait?

Come on, that is not really a requirement to opine on these matters on a message board.

Do any of us? I guess we ought to all STFU then.

Well I do put up $$$ out of my very limited budget to buy these season tickets.

I’m not happy at all with the results so far, but agree wholeheartedly with the idea that a lack of continuity is one of the bigger problems we have as a program. Additionally, as has been asked several times across many threads, who are we going to go get right now that would be such a major upgrade? I’m not sure Sark is the guy but I’m also not sure anyone would be “the guy” with the state our program is currently in. We’ve tried firing and hiring ad nauseam and I don’t think that’s the answer at the moment. I’m just so sick of f*cking losing I can’t think of what to do at the moment. I’m gonna go open more wine.

I am not saying I want to fire Sark, I am just curious what people think.

I agree with Sangre that we haven't had success rotating, but I also think at programs like Texas coaches should be on the clock. But, I also believe that if we kept Charlie or Tom, we wouldn't have competed for anything on any level.

That said Sark has been a colossal disappointment that has shattered virtualy everyone's worst case year 1 expectations.

    Lost to Kansas at home
    No Bowl
    Horrible halftime coaching
    Questionable clock management
    Poor player development
Longest losing streak in 50 years

I wouldn't be surprised if we fired him, but I hope we don't.

Not head coach related, but Griff had an interesting comment about the notion of these poor sacks not being able to stop the run because of multiple DCs and new schemes. He named the 4 DCs he played under, including 2005. So, basically, they ought to STFU and stop the run. It is about desire.

Healthy OL and QB plus Bijan, KR, and Worthy will be very dangerous next year. I have no clue about the defense. I think we would have scored the TD if Card didn’t get hurt on that drive.

So, if we had good players who weren't hurt who could win, we could have won today. Got it.

What I've noticed on this board is that most people never blame the players. It's this scheme, or that coordinator or that head coach. I haven't played organized football since the 1970s, but if I was the coach I would not tell our receivers to drop a pass right in their hands; I wouldn't tell a QB to overthrow a wide open receiver; I would not tell a DB to give opponents' receivers a wide berth or miss tackles. So I doubt our coaches are telling our players to do such things. I just don't think you become a coach at the D-1 level and not know a helluva lot about football. Coaches coach. Players make plays. Except ours don't.

As to the original question, we are in the depths of pathetic ness. Changing coaches and coordinators, giving players new systems every year isn't working. Sark may turn out to be the worst hire of my lifetime, but I say give him 4 years.

Yes, it is odd. The players can do no wrong to some people around here. Unless you played college football, how dare you suggest the players are at issue.

I've said it many times. Look it up if you like. It's the players.

It is odd. If they would just think about it, the players being the problem is the preferable choice. You can replace them pretty quickly. If it's the coaches, we have to flush $30-$50MM down the toilet (again) and start all over (again). That seems to be less desirable option to me.

An exceptionally logical response to our ineptitude. Couple that with watching the men's BB team and you'll have a lovely evening.

Up 30 points at the half. If that is how you define "sucks", then so be it.

Tell me how your comment made it sound like the BB team was doing well. I didn't say they sucked but if you want to be rude, go ahead.

    Edit: Made this reply nicer.

Because although I agree rotating coaches is not the answer, I don’t think you give a losing coach 5 years. Period.

Strong was gone after 3 consecutive losing seasons. If Sark has 3 consecutive long seasons, I expect he will be gone, too.
