I have to agree with Sabre. When I flew private charter I stayed in Bahamas and Turks many times. I have told people I will never vacation in Bahamas. Turks, St. Thomas, yep.

Based on results today looks like its a moot point and spring ball is next for the Horns. Sark needs to spend the next two months focused on recruiting and weeding out the locker room so that he can get his guys in and his system/culture fully in place. The reality is that next year is not going to be a huge step forward as this team will likely struggle to win more than seven but 2023 is when we will hopefully see a team that is capable of competing and getting Texas ready for the SEC. Right now Texas would be the 15th best team in the SEC ahead of Vandy only, though not by much. That wont change without a couple of recruiting classes and a major change in effort/culture.

Yeah, that extra practice theory is bogus, IMO. Especially in this case since Sark is going to dismantle this MoFo.

I’m also thinking many players will sit out anyway. I just made that up.

Don’t get the hate on my, and now others saying it would depend on bowl etc. of course I’d watch the Horns on TV if they played - that’s not hypocritical. Told wife we wouldn’t go this year but only because will be with family in Tenn and don’t need to spend the travel $&, but if it was the Music City Bowl that’s another story.

Not sure CDC has a choice,. 5-7 teams are offered based on APR. CDC can't control that.

I was thinking, maybe we will have an easier time of winning in the SEC.
Our Big 12 opponents hate us so they up their passion and their game. But in the SEC we are just another team to beat.
So i expect a run of 10+ win seasons as soon as we get to the SEC.
    I just amaze myself sometimes.:smokin:

I'm pretty sure you're being facetious, but I've seen this comment many times before from folks that are dead serious. The truth is, we're nobody's Super Bowl anymore. To think we are is nothing more than ego stroking.

This year I'm sure everyone else wanted to take it to OU and Texas in that order. Have to be foolish not to think we weren't getting everyone else's best shot. But that's not why you lose to Kansas or WVU. You lose those games because you don't give a damn.

Then explain all the Horns down at other games when they aren't playing Texas that day.

    Okay- I’ve thought the same.
In the B12, we are every- EVERY, teams big game. It won’t be at the same level in the SEC.
yes, Bama is that now in the SEC and I think the nare do wells ( Ags of course- but they hate everyone, Mizzou, Arkansas, the Mississippi’s, maybe the Mississippi’s) will make UT a big deal.
UT will be a big game to GA, AL, Aub, Florida, LSU… but not as big to them as every stinking B12 opponent we have.
Kansas beats a bad UT and act as if they won the National Championship… I can’t see Vandy acting like that.
    Just my 2 cents.

For at least the first year everyone will have a welcome to the SEC - how do you like that hit - type of attitude. Then, unless we turn ourselves around - it will be just another game. But everyone always like to show up the new guy.

When asked about Arky going SEC, Frank Broyles said, “ they cut your throat and drink your blood in the SEC”. I’d say that about sums up Arkansas’ experience and is probably what we can expect also. We’re going to be a whipping boy unless there’s a titanic turn around. We’ll get a little taste when we host Bama next year.

I’m in hopes that this keeps Texas kids in Austin.

Although the initial post was (presumably) made in jest, there IS something to consider: The power of Expectations.

If you've ever worked in sales, you'll know that a key to success is to under-promise and over-deliver. In other words, it can be a good idea to undersell what you have to offer. So, when you do deliver, it's always more than promised.

We are expected to win or compete for the B12 title every season. Nobody expects us to do anything in the SEC for the first few years. So the opportunity to over-deliver is much stronger in the SEC. Which can definitely work to our advantage.

I think they should accept if invited. Additional practice time, recruiting, blah blah blah.

Besides, it offers the opportunity to do something we haven't done since 1956.

I think that ship has sailed on a bowl game.

What haven't we done since 1956 that a bowl could have added?

Moot point. Saw that there are 83 bowl-eligible teams and someone gets to stay home...seems like Liberty gets that task.
