Dad basically saying wants to be somewhere where he feels more appreciated and be the man.
It's a funny thing...if you are the man they treat you like the man...if you are not you probably feel underappreciated. Like I alluded to earlier, programs don't run off or let "the man" go..
The thing with Casey we will always wonder about is to what degree that hand injury altered the course of his season and career here. For me, I saw things that I had already seen that gave me pause on him..and the same things we heard out of camp before the injury ..the things that helped Card win the job. We also saw some flashes from him and one could argue he needed more time perhaps...and then theres the injury. Thing is...players take time to grow and mature...like coaches need time to implement their plans, schemes take time to be mastered, and plans to revamp an entire program practically take time.
In the high pressure environment that is Texas football right now...The overall program isn't strong enough to hold the ship while those kinds of transitions occur and there will be little to no patience for what is required for that. If I were a coach at Texas I would feel I have to do everything possible to win right now or else...and that kind of pressure has already proven bad for the program overall.

And no this isn't me saying we've made a mistake w Casey..It is me saying I see the tension and recognize the causes...and can see from both sides.

Casey Thompson's father, Charles Thompson, discusses Texas QB's entry into transfer portal

Adding Johnson to their already no. 1 rated recruiting class is scary. Also, I think they’re the favorite for Denver Harris too.

Johnson is 6’5” 220 lbs and has two years of SEC experience. He has 3 years of eligibility left thanks to the covid year. He threw for over 2800 yards with 27 TDS against 6 Ints and beat Aggy in the finale.

Obviously they hope to red shirt their 5-star recruit, Wiegman. Jimbo is building for the future. We’d better get ready.

Dam near every school that is not power 5 and many 2nd tier power 5 schools. He is a serviceable QB who could win at many place, but he does not have the talent to turn a bad team into a good team. However, lets not pretend that the kid does not have talent.

I was also wondering if he sees this as his chance to get some NIL money thrown his way.
He won't get Ewers money but he might get a few schools in a small bidding war over him.

    Careful, Clean.
Any kind of objectivity regarding aggy will get you bashed around here.
The way I see it...it should be very hard for any honest, objective football fan to not see that aggy has improved their lot since the SEC move...and is likely in the best position they have been in since 1938 or whatever...

Yea, remember when Jonny won the Heisman and beat Alabama and aggy was about to be relevant?
    That was cool.

Wasnt there one more decent year a little further back where they had something brewing but fell flat at the end?? Seem to recollect something...

But, yeah...those were anamolies/outliers within an average program IMO. I think they may have actually built a little something this time...
    We shall see...

    Seriously? Still?

I think this is probably true - and that's why I'm not convinced that all of Casey's struggles could be put on his injured thumb. It seemed that much of Sark's frustrations down the stretch were about Casey not finding his receivers and not showing poise in the pocket. The o-line clearly didn't help matters, but I'm not buying that Sark would say "I'm not getting enough out of the QB position" if the problem was Casey being physically limited on some of his throws.

Answer these questions; don't "guess" or "I think" or "my opinion"; answer these questions, then run your uneducated mouth

    1) He graduated in three years. Were we not able to get him in the graduate program he wanted/needed?

    2) What discussions did he have with Sark regarding which way the program was going?

    3) Who else of knowledge did he discuss his future with? Respected coaches? NFL scouts?

    There are great opportunities out there for a good QB. Tech's new OC; Colorado State's two OCs; Libby; Kendall;

I defy you to state that Patrick Mahomes could have done better behind that OL or with those receivers running the wrong routes and dropping half the damn passes thrown at them.

Yes. Awesome. The dude had a mangled throwing hand for every game after OU. And he went out there and kept firing. And, despite his injury, led the Big 12 in touchdown passes.

It was a bad break for him, and the team. So I wish CT nothing but the best in his new spot.

They are in a very strong position. The thing that people seem to forget is aggy was playing with their backup qb all season. With the recruits Jimbo is pulling, I would say aggy is venturing into mid-80s territory. We'll see.

Yes, until my last breath. Can't stand him or his helicopter sperm donor. Couldn't believe Mack Brown kissed Phil Sims *** every time he showed up.

Welcome to the world of NIL. No schools in America (who also have football mania) can possibly compete with oil state rich alums. Add to that the MNC envy in CollegePatch and you have a glacial initiative. ATM may have a higher payroll than the Dallas Cowboys. Not bitchin, just fact. Hell, UT isn’t far behind. Another case of monster negative unintended consequences

    ^^^THIS.

But didn't Thompson basically ride the pine under Herman except for a couple of games? He did well in the bowl game coming in for an injured Ellinger. Where ever he ends up, I wish him the best of luck and hope he gets playing time.

Then he went to the pros, imploded and was a flaming out, total bust! That was my favorite part of his short lived career.

    1. No definitive information available.

    2. Only information came from Sark in post game interview that he would begin postseason discussions with each player on that Monday. Thompson is/was a player at the time. Content of the player's discussions with Sark are not available.

He could've been a superstar here, but got surpassed by a freshman who actually caught the ball when it was thrown to him.

Not unless he teaches JM to catch balls that hit him in the hands. Well, that and how to turn the alarm clock on.

Moore has only himself to blame. With QE coming in, he could have made the big-time in 22.

TCU no longer looking at Casey, looks like Nebraska might be interested - they've struck out with some of their transfer targets already. No one else has found a home yet besides Moore/Owens to TT and Cooks to TCU.
