If the number on the street, the actual number probably is 25 to 50% higher.

Well it is official, college football is just some bastardized minor league football system. It is a dam shame.

How this plays out will be fascinating to watch. NIL has created a new professional football league. And unlike the NFL, there is no salary cap, and no ability to level the playing field. This is the New York Yankees versus the KC Royals. But without “any” limitations. Like someone already noted, it really is the Wild Wild West.

My take on TAM is that many programs in the SEC will not appreciate what they have done and what they are doing. And I mean powerful programs. While many in that league have been cheating for years, they are not going to appreciate what is happening in College Station.

Can anyone do anything about it? I have no idea but many smarter than I am might have a take. I just can’t see this new normal being allowed to continue, but then again, I’m not sure how it can be stopped. That is, unless the fangless NCAA establishes some parameters within which programs must operate or they will be penalized. But then again, perhaps the NCAA does not have the legal standing with respect to NIL to do anything.

aggys and especially their BMDs would chop off both arms and legs to win a national championship. NIL is the vehicle that they are taking full advantage of - more so than any other team thus far, hence their runaway 2022 recruiting class. They are organized and willing to pony up the $$$ to buy the best recruits to put a trophy in their empty trophy case. It’s happening. It has happened. It’s absolutely legal and within the rules - the only question is what our coaches, administration and BMDs are going to do to fight fire with fire. Until the rules change, the highest bidders are gonna bring in the talent. aggy is out front on this and their first class in the NIL is scary.

it’s time to respond - put up or shut up and watch every goober load up on maroon shoes and 15 stickers on their maroon goober-mobiles stating their superiority in <fill in the blanK>.

This other people's money problems. If I had 25 million spare money I'd fund college scholarships in Mozambique or a health science building at North Central Texas College ...something that will have a more important impact than who wins a few dadgum football games.

The agroids have a long and documented history of cheating in recruiting. I have no doubt they broke NIL rules for this class. Surely there must be rules on NIL’s?:rolleyes1:

The Dark Side and potential downfall-
17 year old gets 100k and , well does what most 17 year olds do… dumb ****, except these kids have the added disadvantage of being bulletproof in their own minds. So they take stoopid to a new level…
Most of the kids never had more than a $20 in their pockets and do not have the emotional intelligence to make smart decisions with this kind of jack.
And I would put myself as a prime stoopid candidate at 17 if offered the same.BTW.

In addition to the NIL money providing enhanced potential for making stupid decisions, it also remains to be seen just how hard an 18 year old kid who just got a million or two will continue to work... I am sure some will work just as hard perfecting their craft as before, and some will look at all that money and put it on autopilot.

In the end, we have declared ourselves the Jones' and if it is to be so, then we must act like a Jones, which means defeating any and all comers in a bidding war.

    Or else, we're Texas Tech.

Unable to win a championship the old fashioned, lets buy one. I mean with this class on paper, all they have to do is toss the ball out there, sit back, and reap the rewards.
Aggy has a better chance at buying a national championship trophy on eBay than actually winning one.

Hey Jimbo. The target on your back just got bigger and losing games is not an option. All of college football wants you to lose and your money boys will not tolerate it..

I read texags daily. The prevailing attitude over there has changed dramatically since tu and OU were admitted into the SEC. Many of the posters openly state that any and all things bad that they can inflict on the conference is deserved. They were jilted and not given any choice in league expansion. Many even thought they had a gentleman's agreement that Texas would never be allowed in.

I don't have a clue how or when it will happen, and I'm not even sure what 'it' is. But the SEC is too powerful to allow anm to simply buy a championship. Aggy has already shown their collective asses in trying to be one of the big boys. Compare the way they act with Mizzou and Arkie, there's no comparison.

It's funny because they believe they were being ethical and a team player all along. That's their self-image.

The other Aggy trait is to sell the future. They are constantly on the verge. They lost 4 games and bagged on their bowl game. So somehow, they're on the rise. Maybe they sold their victory over Bama but then the QB who led them to victory (playing through injuries - wonder if Antonio Bryant would have done that) TRANSFERRED! He was probably told he would be lucky to start next year.

No 12th man for the bowl game.

No loyalty to the man who led them to the victory they are now selling as evidence of future Aggy dominance.

I will also admit to Texags being a guilty pleasure. Kind of like admitting you liked The Carpenters in a Led Zeppelin world, but the difference is The Carpenters were actually amazing in their talent (at least Karen was). Texags is amazing in their delusion.

This is exactly what I was trying to say earlier.
Aggie has already been booking tickets for the NC game in Houston 2023, if that doesn’t happen…. There will be a meltdown. Watch. They will go ape **** if they are 8-5 playing Washington St in the Gator Bowl.
I set the over under on this years Aggie recruiting portal at 5- regarding the ones they just signed…. Throw in kids not panning out, and injuries.
I say this because they ain’t that good, Jimbo seems to be a nut and not a players coach and reality sets in to some of these 1st round draft choices who are in a battle to see playing time next year or two.
The allure of a #1 recruiting class isn’t what it once was. And this isn’t a knock against Aggie, is that they are so sure that this class brings them a NC they will be heartbroken.
So many other things besides talent play into winning a NC.
Caleb Williams is on line one if any care to disagree, I’ll patch you over to him.

Anybody remember the Aggie baseball class with the multi-million-dollar infield; the infield that we would see reunited at the MLB All Star Game in a few years?

My daughter had a male teacher at that time who was an Aggie. She bet him that Texas would beat A&M more times than A&M beat Texas that year. Loser had to wear a shirt purchased & "decorated" by the winner the entire school day. I told my daughter how much A&M had paid for this for that "all star" lineup. We didn't stand a chance of ever beating them.

She decorated the white t-shirt with the scores of the multiple games we played against the Aggies that year, the fact that the Horns had won or shared nearly seventy SWC titles and lost only ten. He was a good sport and wore the t-shirt all day. We played them multiple times that year and swept them.

The Aggies' history says they can and will "Aggie it" when you least expect it. Let Jimbo load up, it won't matter.

lots of bs going around out there. who knows what real numbers are. you just need one poster on here to say "they know from someone..." and it gets put in a tweet then written about on some guy's website and it's news.

The #1 signing class might get aggy an invitation to the debut of the 2024 Animal Farm Bowl.
They will definitely see this as a winner winner chicken dinner!!

I'm sure there's some deep pockets in FL also.

But why is anyone surprised? We said all this was going to happen a year ago. It's going to turn into a top 10-15 that have the $ to buy a top 10 team. All others will become irrelevant. Fortunately, Texas is among the elite. At least in terms of $.

I suspect the agroids will be very good, but they'll still find way to screw up winning it all. Isn't that where Gilligan went to school?
