I can’t imagine Hillary coming back to 2024 elections, I don’t even think she would get the Dem nomination. She must think the Dem cheat machine is un stoppable.

What some of these pundits need to learn and accept is that, after President Depends, complete with his year-long display of dementia, this nation will NEVER again elect anyone over the age of 70 to the office of President. Cognitive ability is an absolute must, and even if you have it during the campaign season, it fades quickly.

Given her ego, I could envision her TRYING in '24 precisely because of the slush fund she would bring in, but she is even more of a polarizing figure than DJT would be on the ballot.

I say get the broom and sweep out these oldies, including Trump.
No one with a straight face, or a brain in their head thinks Joe can run again.
The GOP needs to distance themselves from Trump the man, but keep some of his ideas. I don't see any way Trump could win again, and the Republican party has too many younger, less crazy candidates to choose from.

As much as I would love to see Hillary get crushed, I can't imagine a 2x loser getting the nom again. Although, I would gladly make a toast with a glass filled with her bitter tears, and I would have a tear of joy in my eye if she did.
I don't see who is in the wings for the Dems, though. Too many nutcases.
I think the Republicans are pretty stacked as long as they don't do something stupid.

I agree, but at this point, I think he'd rather face Biden. He can throw inflation and Covid at Biden. He can't do that to Hillary.

Trump's team did have some good policy. I don't know how much of that was "Trump" but one thing the GOP does need to keep from Trump is his willingness to take the media heat and not lay down. But hopefully we can find someone to do that without taking a flamethrower to his own party and allies.

Desantis seems to be the guy most capable of this.

Running Trump again would be a disaster for the Republican Party in 2024. DeSantis is an excellent choice.

    It's sad, but the Democrat candidate could be elderly, dementia ridden, a supporter of socialism, and a racist that could f up;
    -an economy
-the ordering and distribution of Covid test kits despite unlimited funds
-the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan so bad that 13 Americans die
    -international relations
-the American oil and gas industry

and support Congress putting rules in place to steal elections while destroying years of Congressional procedure, and be a serial liar and the idiot Libs would vote for him.

Oh I think Trump will run unless he has health problems (likely) or the democrats are successful in disqualifying Trump. Ironically that’s what the democrats want and that’s the best case scenario for Republicans.

If the Republicans are smart, they will somehow figure out a way to keep Trump on the sidelines. I believe the best shot is to run someone like a DeSantis out and put a Tim Scott or other up and coming minority with a brain onto the ticket. It serves to draw the minority vote while also helping to stifle the opposition cries of racism that would inevitably be coming from the left AND it keeps us with candidates who won't have dementia apparent while in office...

There is no "the Republicans". There's not a smoke filled room of big wigs who sit around and figure out who to put on the ballot for the GOP side. If Trump runs, someone else will need to run on a message of how they will accomplish the issues that Trump won on in 16, but able to accomplish those goals in a far more effective manner than Trump did, who was hobbled by horrible hiring on his own part - half the big appointments he made in his administration he had to fire from them actively working against him.

It's an inside straight to have to draw, and only DeSantis I think could pull that off.

And, there's no evidence that a black Republican draws any more support from blacks than a honkey. They are quickly labeled sell outs, Oreos, Uncle Tom's, by the Democrat party's black overseers like Al Sharpton, Van Jones, S Abrams, and get little support, even if the Democrats are running a white person against the black GOP.

I agree that this has been the historical pattern and it is a strong pattern but it is a pattern that we haven't tried very hard to interrupt, and it is a pattern that we need to interrupt. While GOP efforts might not yield immediate results, it is an effort worth pursuing because it is a voting block that we need to make inroads into for the future.

This is what happened to Larry Elder in California when he ran for Governor. Black, White Supremist. Candace Owens was called something similar. The new Lt. Governor in Virginia was dismissed as a sell-out.

I think DeSantis beats Trump in the primary then will aggresively get things done while knowing where to draw the line when it comes to running his mouth. He could end up being the most popular president ever.

I'd like to see DeSantis + N. Haley, or DeSantis + Tim Scott. I like the fact that more GOP are quietly moving away from Trump. We don't want a dumpster fire that fractures the base. DJT will probably keep firing away but if the rest of the GOP just kind of disengages with him, then we could make this transition without giving the Dems the opportunity to play on the split and pit one GOP against the other.

Agree. If Trump is on the ballot as the GOP nominee, I fear that we would see a rerun of 2020 from independent voters - "I'm not voting for the Democrat, I'm really voting against Trump." That's how Biden was elected - not votes for Bidem, just votes against Trump. If the GOP will nominate a quality candidate who is not Donald Trump, we win in a landslide in 2024.

There will likely be several issues to animate the Dem's in 2024 due to the current SCOTUS. They will likely dial back R v W. , EPA powers, AffAction, and some others. And they will hang this all on DJT appointing 3 justices to SCOTUS. DJT will already give the Dem's a HUGE emotional lift for "anti-trump" votes based on his own actions and personality. plug in the anticipated SCOTUS actions and DJT becomes the lightning rod for all of that emotion. His brand is the one thing that i think could cause the GOP to lose in 2024.
