We are all frustrated. Nobody here is anti Vic. But I’m sorry....Audrey Warren has been mostly a liability and deterrent to good offensive flow all season. She is simply not athletic enough to play the three spot. We need more offensive continuity and she simply doesn’t help that. JAT was the same early on but better as of late... Warren flails and flops at every opportunity and I think even the officials are over it. Matharu is by far our best player and without her we wouldn’t have several of the wins, She absolutely deserves to start. Holle is another one that deserves more playing time and brings far more quickness and athleticism to the three spot.....

Audrey is gritty... I get it. But as you pointed out our offense needs an injection from the beginning of the game, and the toughness that Audrey brings could serve just as good in the role of sixth player.

I've never hated Audrey starting I just thought given time someone on our bench could have improved that positon. I also trust Coach Vic. I know he sees what we all are seeing too. I just dont want our young talent to lose hope in this process.
Its hard to generate defensive energy in an empty building. The marketing here has been terrible other than Football and Texas Volleyball. We must do better..all of us.

Matharu is definitely an offensive talent and agree it’s time to change it up and start her. But she would’ve played more if she didn’t get three fouls in that short span. Rori also has to be better there.

Vic indeed has a hard job ahead. I definitely don’t know how to fix it. Losses will do this, but the team LOOKS defeated. Slumps happen. So how does he break them out? Who steps up as a leader? For the second season in a row, it doesn’t feel like there’s a real team leader. But at some point, Vic has to manage (and I’m sure his staff is) perceptions of future recruits, transfer potentials, etc. Anyone who’s been looking at our product lately, including attendance, can’t think this is a great place to be, especially compared to others.

It’s tough. But, it’s not about who wins in January or even who’s conference champs. That doesn’t matter a whole lot in the end…

I wasn’t editorializing one way or another just pointing folks to information that has been a topic of discussion and question in this forum. I was interested in what Vic’s strategy was/is

Vic said at the press conf - I think after UTRGV - that Mathura studies the game and then comes off the bench knowing what she has to do. He said he was lucky to have his 6th player also be his top scorer.

Audrey had a really bad night with turnovers, but she has been very much responsible for several of our wins. I hate when she hits the floor, but I am very comfortable with her contributions when she is in the game… especially her defensive effort which is always there even when her offensive game is lacking.

I don't have all the answers, but it's certainly bizarre that when you can't score in the OT period you have your best offensive player on the bench. I bet her defense is just as good as Warren's too just because of her athletic ability to do things Warren just can't do. And I doubt she ever has 7 turnovers playing 40 minutes. WTF is Warren thinking trying to dribble through 3 players all night when 2 of them are on the ball side.

I want to trust in Vic too, but damn if I keep seeing that crap I'm picking up the phone.

I actually don’t mind Audrey starting or Ebo for that matter I just don’t like how they stay in the game when they constantly make mistakes and aren’t contributing on both sides of the floor. Holle, and Lattimore should’ve taken up some of those minutes.

Vic also said Matharu didn’t look ready to play or seemed engaged when she came into the game and I agree because, you could see it on her face she was a bit frustrated coming into the game so late in the first quarter. With that being said a win is more important and you deal with the rest afterwards. She 100% should’ve been in the game much more than she played. I understand Vic wants to teach a lesson but we are now 1-2 in the big 12 and our confidence looks way down.

Crazy how this was supposed to be a thread about the game last night but it has turned into a ‘bash Audrey’ thread. Ya’ll love her when we win but hell when we lose its all her fault. This is literally the most I have seen anyone talk about her on this blog and more than half was negative. So she had an off game, they all have off games. You cant score when you aren't getting touches so maybe someone needs to talk about the selfish plays. Who leads the team in assists? Guarantee she knows the game better than any girl out there and she plays multiple spots but why talk about what she does for the team when according to everyone on here, she does more to hurt the team. Sometimes I wonder if we all watch the same game. OSU game? Did ya’ll watch that?

Texas need to look at film and see all the stupid passes they try to make.I was smdh at that tv last night. It was amazing to me.This is about the 3rd game I have seen bad passing. And then blocking out on Defense. We get pushed around so easy. And the energy level for Texas has went away. What happened,it was so good the 1st couple games. And I noticed the guards just try to drive to deep and then pick thedribble. up. Not sure what to do at that point.A hot mess. Everybody should feel bad for the way that team look.It so much good talent on that Team. But you also how to know how to Coach that Talent. You getting your *** tore up back door every single game and not making adjust is crazy. Please try to find another Press.Because every Team have that Junior High School press scouted so well. They are consistent scoring layups. I tend to wonder now what's going on in the locker room and the practices.Because something has changed. Please fix it right away. It's your Lil Red Wagon you can either push it or pull it.Hookem.

What’s up with Vic’s public speaking? Meaning - the poor grammar and profanity? I never noticed this before. Maybe it’s the frustration of watching bad basketball, but I noticed it after both the Tech and Kansas games. It’s unbecoming.

Don't think anyone here is bashing Audrey. If there's any bashing going on, it's how Coach Vic left her in the game when she was having an incredibly bad night. He should have given someone else the chance to play who might have done better.

Pointing out facts is not bashing. This is not personal towards Audrey. Most on here appreciate her gritty toughness and contributions to our success. What we have said is true. IMO, and many others, her play, especially on the offensive end, has not been consistent or conducive to our offensive flow. We are floundering offensively and her turnovers, inability to create, handle the ball and lack of consistency have contributed to that. The Tennessee game comes to mind when she was put in the middle of the zone and could not hit wide open 10 foot shots. At times, she tries to do too much which results in turnovers. I have no doubt she knows that. Many just feel that Matharu has earned that spot and prefer a three guard lineup at present. How you feel that is bashing only you can answer... but sounds like you are closer to this than us. This is a discussion forum, and obviously Vic makes the final call. I love Audreys toughness, but feel it’s better for her to come off the bench and start Matharu.

My point is that her good qualities are hardly ever discussed even when she has a good game so yes it feels like everyone was bashing her. I understand this is an opinion forum so thats what everyone posts, their opinions. All I know is she has earned her starting spot thru the years and I don't think Vic will change that. Should she have played a different spot, yes she would have been more effective at the 4.

Well since I was one of the posters who were critical of Audrey after the game I can say I definitely was not bashing Audrey. Every player is going to have an off night that’s just basketball. I think it’s more of the fact that Vic kept her in and allowed her to continue making mistakes throughout the game and she did exactly that. I stated before I have no problem with Warren starting because, we all know what she brings to this team and we need her but, in that game she should’ve 100% come out for a little while to let her regroup and get her mind right. Holle did great with the few minutes she played. She deserved to be in that game.

I think vic’s distribution of minutes is terrible. It lost us this game. Both Aaliyah Moore and Matharu should be starting and playing a much more significant role. Hunter needs more minutes too.

Cut some of Jo’s minutes too. She was 2-10 from 3 and Matharu was 3-5. Why was Jo taking 3’s in OT while Matharu was on the bench? Audrey should be our 6th man. I might even be fine with Matharu being that sixth man if she was playing sixth man minutes. She needs to be getting 30+ minutes. Bring Ebo off the bench or start her only when the other team has a true center.

    I want to see :
    Harmon
    JAT
    Matharu
    A. Moore
    D. Gaston
    starting

Kansas is one of the worst teams in the B12 and will finish bottom two or three. Tech will be bottom three or four. I am very scared for these next few games. We very well may finish below .500 in B12.

I know this is a forum, and as such, a "forum" for spouting. I see a lot of folks questioning Vic's decisions. I will be the first to admit that I've never been a coach, and I have not been invited to practices, so I am in no position to question Vic's decisions. Others seem to think they are. Do some have inside knowledge that I'm not privy to? Someone (racer?) pointed out that we are in a similar position as last year. Last year he was the new coach. This year he has a bunch of new players. He has had 2 rebuilding years. We were all excited that he was hired. Let's let him do his job.

Once again, I am one of those people who questioned his decision making in the Tech game and Kansas. So speaking for myself, I have been around the game of basketball since I could talk and not trying to sound like an a**hat but I like to think I know what I’m talking about and have pretty good knowledge of the game.

Now in no way am I saying I know everything or more than Vic because, he’s one hell of a coach and I fully trust him and his process because his resume speaks for itself. But, he’s human and makes mistakes as well. I know enough to see the little things that can cost you a game and what he did with Warren, Ebo, and Matharu cost us that game.

I also think this forum is for people to express frustration with what they see and majority of the people here are a pretty knowledgeable bunch so it’s not like they are saying nonsense. Everything that has been discussed so far I guarantee Vic has addressed. We said after the game we need a new starting lineup and Vic has now changed it. Has nothing to do with what’s being said here but, it just goes to show that we are all on the same page as is Vic and realizes a bit of change is needed.

Hopefully we can turn the ship around soon. Worst case scenario we lose a multitude of games but begin clicking come the conf tourney & that auto-bid! I think the other UT had 10 loses one season & still won the Natty

Any thoughts on which asst coach is assigned to our post players?
I ask bc I've caught a few LSU and Auburn games and have been impressed by the aggressiveness & production at their post!
Surely w the hand of Johnnie & Sytia.

Regarding attendance: Agree that it's disappointing and the product needs to improve and stay consistent to get anywhere close to the glory days where we would lead the nation. I was amazed at the crazy atmosphere of Iowa at Nebraska this past weekend on TV(8,500 strong) and made me sorely miss having that type of a passionate fan base for women's bball
