Someone has gone through and looked at the historic AP year end rankings and, by assigning points 1-25 in reverse order, determined the highest ranked/best programs of all time.

Ill link below....but guess first...then lets give some people time for guesses before anyone gives anything away.

    Without looking please....
Lets here some guesses on which teams you think make the top 10 and which teams are at the top of the list

Edit: The links all have giveaway info in titles. You guys guess...and Ill post list after we get a fair share in...

    Without Googling anything:

    OU
    Bama
    ND
    Michigan
    Ohio State
    USC
    Nebraska
    Texas
    ...
    ...
    ...
I have no clue beyond those.
Was thinking some of the SEC schools but a lot of them had issues over many, many years that kept them out of the Top 10.
The Florida schools didn't have success until the 70s-80s.
Clemson had a long dry spell so I doubt they're in.
The rest of the B1G is kinda crappy throughout history... not enough sustained success from the likes of Wisconsin or Michigan State.
    DEFINITELY not A&M.

    My picks

    1. Notre Dame
    2. Alabama
    3. Oklahoma (sucks)
    4. Michigan
    5. Ohio State
    6. Texas
    7. Nebraska
    8. USC
    9. Penn State
    10. Clemson

I think Georgia Tech might be a dark horse. They were usually good before the last 20 years or so. Arkansas might slip in there too???

I am tied up at the moment with some business but wanted to declare a winner. Dont have time to do justice...
At first glance -many good entries- some standouts might be:
    Horns11
    Creek
    Duke
    AC maybe
    ....??
    What do you guys think?

Notable notes include most people overating UT relative to USC. Also many, like me, overating LSU, 5 people guessed #1 correctly, impressed some got Tennesse on there, some guys showing their age (either young or old) lol, and, of course, the absence of aggy....poor aggy.

    Great job, guys!
(I couldn't participate as I had initially viewed the list)

I have to admit I cheated and looked after the post went up, so didn't place a "guess".

I think I had 9 out 10 and some exactly. Almost put Tennessee but thought LSU would of caught up.

I would have had Bama 1. Not shocked Nebraska and Penn State are in there given history. If not for the last decade Texas might be higher. I'd have guesses 6 or 7 too but glad we are a solid top 10. A little surprised OU is 1.

    2003,

You have to remember that OU had the two longest winning streaks in NCAA history during that period.

I think many fans (including me) are subconsciously conditioned to think of Notre Dame as the top program historically. Looks like the numbers don’t bear that out.
