So - are you attempting to make the case that people shouldn't get vaccinated because there are breakthrough cases with Omicron? Or that vaccines are worthless? Just trying to follow you.

The science shows people who are vaccinated and boosted are less likely to suffer severe illness, hospitalization and death. People who choose not to get vaccinated should also sign a legal document agreeing not to seek hospital care if they are infected, draining health care resources. Do you know any nurses or doctors who are exhausted caring for vaccine deniers who end up in the ER? I do.

Back to the Joens sisters - refusing to get vaccinated is reckless and selfish. They put themselves before their team - and as a result, their team lost. I can't imagine that plays well in the locker room but who knows. Maybe it's a team of anti-vaxxers

Sorry - but I don't agree to disagree with anyone who refuses to get vaccinated. We've been through two years of this pandemic and I think most of us have run out of patience with that mentality. Well - at least I know I have.

Texexted, I'm going to go back to my original statement:

"Whether vaxed or unvaxed, makes no difference with Omicron. Even if they were vaxed, Omicron is breaking through. Joens sisters were held out as a precaution because they were near someone who presumably tested positive."

So even if they were vaxed and near someone who presumably tested positive, they could/would be held out because the vaccine is ineffective in preventing infection by Omicron.

That is the only case I am making.

Actually vaxxed means fewer if any symptoms even with Omicron which means less likely to infect others. Personal choice is a very fine line to walk when you are endangering the health and well being of others. We enforce regulations all the time on choices that cause safety issues… try taking a peanut into a kindergarten classroom and see what happens.

Also, my sincere apologies if I suggested that Fennely is not a decent person or even a good coach. I was merely pointing out that his record in the last 12 years shouldn’t have given anyone any more fear about the outcome of this game as opposed to any others. Fennely stands out as a good guy and a very good coach, but he is not the offensive or defensive genius as was being suggested. That said - I freely admit I was not worried about Tech and Kansas so eating crow is a common menu item with me.

We beat them soundly with Joens last year when her scoring average was even higher. I still like our chances in the next game against the great and powerful Fennely.

I wasn’t afraid of Fennely or his team, but our youth has shown us that we may not be on point every night and we could and have lost to teams we shouldn’t. Hoping we can be ready for KState and perform well and that Audrey is ok...

"Whether vaxed or unvaxed, makes no difference with Omicron. Even if they were vaxed, Omicron is breaking through."

This is factually and scientifically incorrect. Vaccinations do make a difference. The argument that Omicron is breaking through is like arguing against seatbelts because people still die in car accidents (wearing seatbelts). Or a person can still get the flu even if they've had a flu vaccine (true - you just don't get as sick or die).

Anyhow - back to basketball and the fact Texas blew out a Top 10 team.

    Hook 'em.

Healthy people (NCAA athletes) aren't going to the hospital because of covid. Most people are being hospitalized with Covid not because of Covid. If you do the work before of working out, living a healthy life style, eating a balanced diet that is the vaccine.

Now back to what I care about Shay Holle needs more minutes.: Could be the best athlete on the team? Except maybe Harmon?

It will be replayed, but you have to do a search for it…it might be on at some ungodly hour, like 3 a.m….but it will be replayed…

No - eating well and working out is not a vaccine. And drinking bleach doesn’t cure COVID. Facts are facts.

Given that the Joens sisters would have sat out, whether vaxxed or not, the argument is precisely correct.

We aren't arguing about health outcomes here. Only about the consequences to the ISU team of the Joens' being within 100 yards or so of somebody who was positive.

If you look at the middle part of the screen, you'll see the replay time for the game at the ungodly time you mentioned. But if you scroll your screen lower to the bottom for On Demand, you'll find the game. You'll now have to scroll to the right as it's now an older game. I used to be resigned to the fact I'd have to watch it at a prescribed time. I didn't know there was more to the screen, lower which offered On Demand.

Used On Demand just this morning to take a screenshot of the game.

Does Vic do an after game pressor at away games? I’d like to hear his thoughts about this one.

I find it hilarious that the team is not allowed to have their phones the night and day of a game.

“We get everybody’s best game. We get everybody’s best everything… That’s how badly everyone wants to beat Texas.”

    Isn’t that the truth.

You are incorrect. Had they been fully vaxxed the Big 12 protocols would have exempted them from having to quarantine as a close contact.

Vic laid it on way too thick as far as how good ISU is or can be. Personally, I don't think they're too much better than last season's team, especially losing Kristin Scott at the post. Obviously, their true freshmen last season are now sophomores, so that helps their maturity and experience.

That was marketing. We spanked them, and we'll face them again. No advantage to rubbing it in their faces.

Then I stand corrected, and will note the Big XII may want to reconsider their rules due to the extreme transmissibility of the omicron variant.

Just watched the game on ESPN+ I thought we played really tough defense. I liked what I saw there. I also thought we played with a lot of energy, like the WVA game and I liked that too. Tough stretch of games the next few weeks. Hope we can keep our mojo

Texexted, in no way am I making the argument that being vaxed is not safer in lesser symptoms and less hospitalization.

Instead, I am solely sticking to the issue of whether the Joens sisters would have missed the game yesterday even if they were vaxed because as the journal Lancet is reporting, the mRNA vaccines do not prevent infection of Omicron.

Therefore, if vaccinated people are being infected with Omicron, it makes no difference whether the Joens sisters are vaccinated or not as it related to whether they can play.

    Let's talk basketball.

Exactly. At this point this “debate” is pointless.
Interesting that the U.S. Olympic team is 100% fully vaccinated but ISU can’t get about 12 players fully vaccinated. Too bad for them - selfish behavior harms their entire program.
