I remember how Jody Conradt used to say that the last 5 minutes of the first half and first 5 minutes of the second half were so crucial as far as momentum. Tonight, we grabbed the momentum to start the second half:

Sure, I noticed the poor shooting in the second quarter especially. I was worried! And I noticed how the team overcame that among other obstacles such as foul trouble. Holle, Matharu, and Harmon had poor shooting nights all nights. That is two starters and a key player off the bench. How the team overcame that was impressive. Matharu hit a couple of threes in the second half to help give Texas a scoring cushion, which they needed! Harmon had five rebounds, six assists, and six steals, managed to get 10 points (most from the line), and was just tough despite getting knocked around quite a bit. Holle came back and battled hard after being taken out early when Brosseau hit a couple of early threes for Kansas. Joanne was clutch all night long! Warren was great in helping the team close the game out. Ebo continued her strong play and overcame foul trouble to help close the game out. Gaston had some great plays. Great win over another tough team.

Seems like Lauren Ebo was able to neutralize another opponent's Center tonight.

Please come back next season, Lauren!

That was the closest 10 point win I can recall seeing in some time. It felt more like a 2 point win. We had good balance in our scoring... that's something we're going to need going forward in order to be successful in post-season. We did shoot poorly in the first half (especially the 2nd quarter) and I attribute a lot of that to KU's defense. They were tough and physical defensively -- pretty much giving us some of our own medicine defensively. They disrupted us and I thought they were really good at it. It didn't help that we could not hit the open shots that we were getting. Overall we shot 40% for the game which isn't horrible and that includes a combined 4 for 25 between Matharu, Harmon, and Holle. Like Vic I tend to give the PG a little slack because they often have to take rushed shots with the shot clock winding down, so I'll let Harmon's 1 for 7 slide.

The big differences in the game were our 37-29 rebound advantage and we won the turnover battle 22-14. Of our 14 Rori had 3 but with 6 assists, and Matharu had 5 with 1 assist (don't know what was up with her last night). Not a lot of our turnovers were unforced... again, credit to KU's defense. Jo carried us and hit key shots throughout the entire game, and Ebo played huge for us during a very critical stretch there in the third quarter. It was a very gutsy effort against a VERY well-coached team.

Earlier last week when folks were talking about Vic leaving for A&M etc., etc. I mentioned that there are some really good coaches out there that need only to land the right job and that, IF Vic left, I hoped that CDC would remain open to hiring the best CANDIDATE. I didn't mention names at that time, but I was specifically referring to Brandon Schneider. That said, if I'm A&M he's at the top of my list if Vic in fact stays at Texas (which I feel he will). Schneider comes from a successful coaching pedigree as his father had over 1,000 wins in his career that included five Texas state championships coaching the Canyon girls team and was a successful Div II coach with the West Texas A&M women. Brandon's brother Brett is also a coach in the women's collegiate game. I've been saying it for several years now... Brandon Schneider is one hell of a coach. By the way, did anyone realize that Terry Nooner is KU's Associate Head Coach?

I knew Nooner was at KU and noticed recently that he had been promoted to Associated Head Coach. KU has been getting good guard play for a few years. This is the first year I remember them having effective true bigs. I think that has been key this year. The Jayhawks are a more complete and balanced team.

Vic isn’t leaving. Discussing potential replacements is wasted time. But while we are wasting time - I heard Texas has reached out to Kim Mulkey.

Interesting that on the RebKell board, there is a topic re: “Coaches on the hot seat” and the Kansas coach is mentioned as gone after this season. This based I suppose on their overall losing seasons during his tenure. They went 7-18 last year. Then recruited a bunch of players from Europe and are 19-8 with one game remaining this season.

I may have misheard, but did you catch the announcers saying all 8 KU defeats were against teams then ranked #16 or higher? If correct, that's got to earn a tourney invite.

They'd be crazy to get rid of him. I think he deserves B12 Coach of the Year but they'll most likely give it to the "blonde ambition" in Norman...

i agree. The sooner Coach seems like the “most obvious” choice to me, but the KU coach would get my vote, if I had one.

Super short 6 min. post game press conference for Coach Brandon Schneider.

When Aniya Thomas from Duncanville HS was asked by the media what is her favorite memory being at Kansas for 4 years, she replied beating Texas twice in her career.

No recent conference titles and over 30 years since our national title, and yet we still live in everyone’s head. We are the benchmark regardless of what other teams have done more recently. It’s stayed true with Aggy even after they left the conference. It will be interesting to see if that carries over to the SEC. Personally, I take the horns down sign as a huge compliment.

I think Gaston and Lattimore will be the starting front court next year and hope Moore sticks around as a key big in the rotation.

Listen to the most recent LHN Game Plan with Vic Schaefer. Aaliyah loves being at Texas and isn't going anywhere.

Yeah, Gaston and Moore are more likely to me (based on proximity and other reasons) to remain at Texas for their entire careers. With Lattimore being so far away from home, you just never know down the road.

Y’all thinking this means she’s not coming back for her extra year?

I don't see anything that says unequivocally she's leaving. She's acknowledging a 4 year career and asking people to turn out to see her be honored for her accomplishments. Standing by...

And in a post game(?) interview recently JAT said she has not made up her mind about coming back, but that she will be participating in Senior Day activities.
