Good for the Big 12. He was terrible. Remember last summer when he said SEC expansion didn't keep him up at night then a week later the SEC grabbed a team or two from the Big 12?
I wish Bob nothing but the best. We'll see what happens with the new Big 12. I think it's going to be a tough road to keep the conference as a major player. Will be interesting to see.
Or just don't go to the meetings. This all needs to go away ASAP. But maybe TT and others would rather just suffer to cause suffering.
Sabre is popping champagne. In other news- Texas and OU decide to remain in BigXII. (that’s a joke) (My first statement is not)
Hey now, nothing wrong with Boobs. Oh, wait. I get it. Some of us just never grow up. My wife can confirm.
So Bowelsby is going to stick around and draw that fat salary through 2025? Maybe Baylor can convince Ken Starr to take the job. Better yet, grab Chuckie NeinASS. Somebody call me when Bowelsby moves out of The Great Republic, unless he joins the rest of the unwanted foreigners in Austin.
Bowlsby story time from my Iowa neighbor: In late 1998, Iowa's AD Bob Bowlsby interviewed Bob Stoops for the football HC job. Stoops said, "Hire me if you like me." Bowlsby said, "We have a process here and that includes one more interview." Stoops said, "I'll pass on the program" and got hired by OU. Iowa settled for Ferentz. One school ended up looking better than the other during the 2000s, and Bowlsby failed upwards.
If I survive him, his family either puts the following on his tombstone or I will get stencils & spray paint it on there. "The man that killed the Big XII and kept Clemson & FSU from becoming members"
I guess I never got the detailed story, but how and why do you screw up Clemson and FSU joining your conference?
Interesting. Notre Dame was never going to join the Big 12. Just about every other non SEC power conference is a better cultural fit, not to mention the basic fact the the Irish are always going to think that their full on joining a conference in football is like a devout catholic girl relinquishing her virginity. Was ND to the Big 12 really considered doable by rational people at the time?
They wanted to chase the prettiest skirt at the HS homecoming dance instead of pursuing the cute girls standing around the dance floor who are looking for someone to dance with and help them ditch their boring dates.
Are you sure it's accurate to say they were chasing the prettiest skirt? From my view, it looked more like the guys too scared to move out of the corner of the dance floor - no chasing at all.
They went "chasing", but the morons dragged along the prettiest girl's date when trying to pick her up. Of course, NeinASS had a long-standing relationship with that date and actually got paid by both sides.
This makes zero sense. Why would pursuing ND preclude the Big12 from pursuing FSU and Clem? Also, given that DeLoss Dodds is good buddies with ND AD Swarbrick I'm pretty confident Dodds was hip-deep in the ND courtship. And there are plenty of articles out there quoting Dodds as being in favor of staying at 10 teams.
G&P, You obviously don't know the players and depend on media for your info. Let me try to simplify it for you. Let's say you invite MB to the senior prom, then spend weeks preparing (limo reservation, reservation at one of the town's finest restaurants, flowers to match her dress) making sure to dot all the "i" and cross all the "t". Get to the prom and she spends the entire evening talking to, flirting and dancing with another guy(s) or one guy in particular. All of a sudden the girl you left behind ain't looking so bad. Then throw in that MB gets some money from you to spend on this other guy. Better yet, MB invites the guy to "help" you take her home in the limo. Do I think Deloss knew what was going on? I think he knew who & what Bowelsby & NeinASS are and what they were trying to do. Throw in the fact that those two idiots had Swofford attend some of the meetings with and about ND, and then FOLLOW THE MONEY!
Hmmm... come to think of it Russia's invasion has been about as successful as the LHN. Russia's military did get a lot of preseason hype only to find itself struggling against much smaller and weaker foe. You may be on to something here! Good work!
