Money Aggies spent to lock down this class

No. Gilligan was goofy enough to qualify, but ended up being too laid back to fit in.

This guy, however, fit in perfectly. In fact they named the stadium after him, but in true aggy fashion, misspelled the name.

Its interesting to me that between the hiring of Jimbo for a foolish number and then extension for even more foolish number, and setting aside whatever may have happened with what he did with Winston to keep him on the field, the hiring of Durkin, who straight up got a kid killed, and now spending obscene amounts for a recruiting class, aggy has entered the "F you all" mode of we don't care what it takes or what we have to spend or what ethical compromises we have to make, we want that NC and nothing is too expensive or too low for us to go ethically. Fully expect Art Briles to be introduced as next OC in collieville and an ongoing payroll that rivals any European soccer powers owned by middle eastern sheiks.

Programs that flout rules and/or decorum tend to have their star players get injured (around the knees) - just saying.

    Man,
This dudes is Ryan Perriloux and Bru McCoys son with a touch of Zach Evans.
I saw him pick Aggie on TV and was disappointed and breathed a sigh of relief at the same time.
He loves the drama. We don’t need drama.

This is what I've been warning about since the start of NIL. We may not like what aggy just did but I don't see any "ethical" problems. Everything I've heard is they are within all current rules. I hate this crap because what is now happening in the NCAA is why I eventually stopped watching the NFL. We're just going to have to tap our supporters for more to keep up or be left behind. This aggy class is very similar to our 2002 class. We'll eventually have to spend more or hope we can win with top 10 classes which we haven't been able to do since 2005. Its the new reality.

Would anyone trade our class (with Ewers) with theirs? Don’t think I would.

There still is a difference between inducement to sign and the promise of NIL deals after enrolling.

Let's just say we'd be happy with their class because they picked up a very good QB. But I think our O-line recruits are exactly what we needed. It's huge.

You don't think the Pancake Factory played a role in us getting a stellar O-line class? I guarantee we get almost none of those guys without that "inducement". I think we had one commit before that deal. Remember when Sark was questioned and he said he could sign five more lineman but he wanted to get the best ones? Yeah, he knew this was coming. Until the NCAA figures out how to control this it is the new way like it or not.

Exactly my thoughts except I was thinking along the lines of UT, my gf's grandfather played QB for UT (along time ago) and he and i discuss UT everytime we visit and someone mentioned going to the SEC and what I thought, and I said, "well, this NIL thing will change everything, the rest of the SEC isn't going to like UT very much cause they will beat everyone soon and no one will be able to compete with them." and thats exactly what I think will happen. Texas A&M has the money too so UT and A&M will at some point be the top dogs in the SEC because NIL $ will make it so. The SEC saw how much more money they would make inviting the longhorns into the league and didn't think they would be much of a threat but as soon as this NIL thing gets a hold, they are all going to start crying like babies at A&M and UT. and as far as being stopped, the courts have already spoken, its a wild wild west and nothing can stop it.

$25 to $30 million . . . That's all? I'd like to see the contract they made with those guys. I can't believe they would fork over that kind of payola for them to merely sign the K without some sort of caveats tied to performance, can't transfer out, career ending injuries, etc. But, that's the aggies for you.

    Joe,

Remember that you are talking about Aggies, the same people that didn't realize they forgot certain caveats in their dash to the SEC - little things like Florida, Georgia, & South Carolina have limiting the SEC's expansion into their states. There are a goodly number of great attorneys who are also Aggies, just none of them represented A&M in their previous negotiations - see also the finer points of Jimbo's contract.

Heard on the radio they did a fantastic job of structuring it to be paid over the four years. $25 million isn't a one time payout. If they transfer or enter the draft early they forfeit the balance owed.

Yes there are. I've worked with some and been up against a couple. There was one case where the Judge became disgusted with opposing counsel who was an aggie (did his undergrad work at a&m College Station), that he asked to see his bar card, in open court, to prove he was a licensed attorney. I felt bad for the guy, but I won the case.

    Joe,

Wait until the **** hits the fan and one of these kids sues A&M for the balance.

    Should he collect? No!

    Will he collect? Doubtful.

Will A&M pay him to keep it quiet? For sure

That will be classic! But, I agree, aggy will make a deal and pay him off. Aggy will settle out of court for a tidy sum.

    Joe,

The trial will be classic - Tony Busbee vs the guy with one of the 2 AM TV ads. We need to set a venue now and start selling tickets.

Have the trial moved to Pecos with Judge Judy appointed visiting judge and televised by ESPN.

As they add more "layers" of 4-year payouts, in year four it will then be like paying it all out in one year from that point on.

You must be mistaken, Jumbo says no money changed hands. All were eager to spend 4 years in collie station.

    Right? What was I thinking?

They are just honest folks who don't lie, cheat or steal or tolerate those who do. They play within the spirit and intent of every law, rule and regulation. They don't parse, spin or lawyer anything they say about the things they do. They can look themselves in the mirror and say:

    "I put honor above winning"

And what is our record during the same period? Seems like we overpaid coaches too.
