Perhaps the Cardinal coaching staff knows how to use Ingram properly, something Herman never figured out.

3rd down back? Decent blocker? I tend to think that his inability to excel at Texas was more on the player himself and less on the staff.

He was a good pass catcher out of the backfield, but in prime time there was that epic drop against LSU. He had decent runs, but he made some big and untimely mistakes, like the fumble at the goal line against TCU. (True, he shouldn’t have been in for that play. He was spent. But reaching the ball out…?)

He never demonstrated vision, much of an ability to break tackles, or breakaway speed.

All that did was confuse me. Lol I thought this dang pandemic thrown off my mental calendar and has me forgetting which players were from which class. He didn't play last year... Did he hold out... Was he in a beef with Sark? Lol

Guys, keep in mind that Ingram was third on the depth chart, behind BR and a converted QB, Roschon. There was a reason he slipped as far down as he did.

The most disturbing part of nobody getting drafted to me: I read or heard that we had a CB with NFL talent, but he took so many plays off or played with so little effort (see OU's last offensive play against UT) that it was impossible that he would be drafted. Really disappointing. Lets hope these guys are purged.

Would appreciate you keeping your political musings to yourself or the West Mall.

Nice guy. Go drink some coffee. It wasn't a lie. It mattered to the performance and psyche of the team.

There were 11 DBs selected in the 7th round, and Thompson was equal to or better than pretty much all of them. So I believe the whole "don't take coddled Texas players" stuff that some posters call nonsense around here definitely holds firm for many, many GMs in the NFL. I don't know how many times we can discuss how stupid certain NFL execs are, but it doesn't change the fact that they're the tone-setters for the league and in charge of hiring.

It's going to be a process to undo that culture. Getting players drafted in 2023 isn't enough. It needs to be a multi-year boom, coupled with on-field results and intensity that we haven't seen since like a few weeks before the 2009 Big XII CCG.

    11,

Thought to chew on for the day - the president and owner of what claims to be an NFL team is a graduate of The University of Texas, as well as serving on the Athletics Council. That organization drafted several players from the Great Republic, but ZERO from the Forty Acres.

Just a clarification: I don't BLAME any NFL GM for not drafting Texas players recently. I think it's warranted this year.

As for McNair, he got his CB with the #3 overall pick and I wouldn't have expected him to take Thompson, as they didn't have any picks after the mid-6th round anyhow. They haven't announced their UFA signings yet either, but it's not like there's anything left.

    11,

Being drafted by McNair is punishment not a reward.

At the risk of sending moon into orbit, the woke spioke in this draft.

My question, do you change a culture by rewarding a kid like this (I am speaking about laziness and nothing political) with playing time or do you change culture by kicking him off the team? My opinion, kick him off the team. I would rather see a hard working caring engineering student giving his all and getting beat every play rather than an elite athlete giving nothing and being beat. Just my preference.

I think kicking off the team is a little extreme.
Benching in favor of a less athletic but more focused and team oriented backup should suffice.
If the message gets across to the original starter then perhaps you've saved yourself a valuable player.
If not, he will probably portal on his own.

I'll take the under - what do I win? Bijan and possibly Roschon and Overshown. No one else on this list is getting drafted.

If there is a cancer in your body, you cut it out! Same is true with football team. That is why Mensa Boy is no longer residing in Travis County.

I for one think this "cancer" comparison has always been a tad extreme, as well.
I don't remember how active the portal was in Herman's tenure.
But in todays world no highly ranked and recruited athlete is going to sit on the bench for any length of time spewing his "cancerous" attitude.
He will either get with the program or portal.

    Moon,

When one or more players disrupts the entire team with their attitude and causes an insurrection, quits during a game, and/or practice, I think "cancer" may be minimalizing their action. Many cancers are curable, but untreated will spread and kill you. I had hoped that shipping Herman out would eliminate all those, but apparently it did not.

I think Sark is weeding a few out.
I think he's on the right track with player leadership.
When more players have the attitude of Ojomo and Rochon and it bleeds down, then any disruptive player will begin to feel like a pariah in and outside the locker room.

Saw this on a blow/u - TX site. Sad but true. Sure hope we have our $hit together this year.
Tiger Woods broke both his legs. Got a DUI. Also smashed a Hooker behind Applebees. And returned to golf before Texas was back
