UT will be leaving the Big12 in the near future. For decades programs like Baylor, TCU, and Tech have coasted along on the coattails of greater programs. Should UT continue to support these children or should UT "go Gualt" on their asses?

    What say you?

Tech is the only school I prefer not to give a charity game to, but doesn't CDC have an agreement with them to continue playing?

If it was up to me, schedule a former Big XII randomly, not on a regular schedule.

I like having Rice as our welfare opponent. And of course, we will be re-adding aggy to that list also.

Yep. Having OU and Aggy is all we need.

George Bailey No beans in my chili, thank you

Screw Tech and Baylor. I wouldn't mind a TCU and Rice rotation. But knowing how SEC teams play out of conference, we'll probably be playing the likes of ACU, UTSA, SHSU, or SFA in addition to a few directional schools.

Yep. Or TCU/SMU and Rice. Play games in Houston and DFW. Now, if Tech wants to locate their home game vs us at Arlington/Death Star and give us half the tickets, that would be different.

I thought Chris had already announced that we would continue to play Tech every year.

What Sabre said. I think we have the groundwork in place to keep alternating with Tech, although I wouldn't be surprised if they offered up JerryWorld as a location for us to play away.

    I'd prefer:
    1. Former Big XII rotation between OK State, Tech, TCU, BU.
    2. Big-time Power-5 school home-and-home series scheduled for every 2 years.
    3. Rice or comparable middling FBS opponent at home.

What in the hell makes you think we're in a position to dictate terms? We've been second rate for a dozen years. That's not a snapshot in time.

SEC doesn't require teams to schedule FCS opponents. However, since the SEC schedule builds in an OOC game in mid November while other conferences don't, it's difficult to find an available FBS team. Couple that with the desire to be ready for rivalry week, it's not surprising that the spots get filled by FCS teams.

I would like to see the SEC institute a rule requiring 2 P5 OOC opponents for every FCS opponent. Even though the games are usually garbage, I'm cool with playing FCS teams as it helps small programs stay afloat meaning opportunities for higher ed that might not otherwise exist for some kids.

Appreciate the poop Chop. The fact the truth still hurts gives me hope for the future.

The NCAA earns plenty from Power 5 programs - they should be splitting that money with the FCS teams. All Power 5 teams should play a minimum of 9 conference games, and no Power 5 team should be able to schedule any FCS team.

With our record for the past dozen years, the SEC may be saying the same thing about us that we are about Tech,Tcu,Kansas,KState. They can probably drop a patsy game because we will fill that position for them.

My understanding is that UT might be amenable, not that it's set in stone.

Even in the bad times, Texas is a big draw...Everyone wants to beat them, and everyone wants the home gate receipts for the home games. It's possibly the only time a stadium comes close to filling up.

We haven't been a greater program the past decade at least.

There is a major difference when considering gross revenue and considering games won. You are correct, we are not "A greater program" in revenue, we are THE PROGRAM

Recent results aside, UT is a far greater program than Tech. The fact that the B1G indicated UT had a "Tech problem" is evidence enough.

Exactly. When we start in the sec, we’ll get some exposure in all those states. We need to play a game in California and in Houston every year.

Switch the move to the PAC-12 and you will get the California wish.
