The Tennessee / USA Today site has their early Regional Brackets Projections up (still way too early...). In the Austin Regional they have: 1. Texas 2. UCLA 3. Alabama 4. Central Conn. State Week 13 college baseball bracketology: Latest field of 64 projections
They have Tech going to College Station. Week 13 college baseball bracketology: Latest field of 64 projections
Isn't Central Conn where Tom Penders went to school. Also, I believe that Rick Lantz went there. Rick is my choice for second best DC in college football behind Leon. Rick is the only DC to successfully change his entire defense for a single game. Barry & Mervyn tried it, and it lasted until almost 9 minutes left in the second quarter. That was the game that exposed Bosworth. Rick's resulted in the first loss by Coach Bowden & FSU in the ACC. In fact, with the game on the line on the last play, Rick told LB Jones what Bobby would call, and UVA stopped Warrick Dunn on wildcat direct snap.
Now if they really want to f@ck us, they'd put the following in our regional: UCLA Air Force College of Charleston Then you'll know they're messing with us...
Chop, not a baseball post - interesting new avatar photo choice for you.... why her? Asking for a friend.
The Baseball America online blog weighs in with their (too early) bracket. They have us going to Bryan/College Station to play the spoiler to the ags. 2022 NCAA Baseball Tournament Projected Field Of 64 (5/11/22)
2022 NCAA Baseball Tournament Projected Field Of 64 (5/11/22) The Baseball America's "Group of Death" is in Stillwater: OSU DBU UCLA Fairfield
2022 NCAA Baseball Tournament Projected Field Of 64 (5/11/22) They've got: - Texas State going to South Bend - OU going to Fayetteville - TCU going to UVA - Tech going to Corvallis, Oregon - WV going to Baton Rogue as a #3 seed
Thank you for changing your pic!!! Now how quickly can we get past the granola fruit cake from cali!!!
Be surprised if LSU hosts…they just got pummeled by Ole Miss. Don’t see us going to Aggy. If we win out and win 2 games in-the tourney I think we will host with a tough regional. Might be better to be a #2 in a easy regional
Today, the LHN announcers were projecting us to Fayetteville as the #2 seed. Maybe we could have a 14-12 or 15-13 victory over the swine…
Who do we pitch in game one? Likely a tougher 3 seed playing their ace. Gordon? For game 2, we play Pete against the Arky ace, presumably.
For starters in the Regional, I’d go with: Game 1: Hansen Game 2: Gordon Game 3 and 4: take your pick from Harrison, Stevens, or Olivarez—the rest of the pen will have to pitch plenty of innings.
If Texas is a two seed it wouldnt shock me if they send the Horns a long distance east or west. If the Horns can win the Big XII tourny it will be tough not slotting them in as a 14-16 seed with regional host but then very tough super if they win that. Texas has won five in a row and 8 of last 9 since the Okie State meltdown and is playing its way back into the conversation at least.
Why? Gordon is the #1 starting pitcher in the Big 12. And Hansen is #3. Big 12 Conference updated as of 5/23/2022 Big 12 Starting Pitcher Rankings by ERA 1. Lucas Gordon........2.55 2. See below. Whomever draws us as a #2 seed (if we don't host) is gonna get screwed. They'll have to face either Gordon or Hansen in Game 2--which could put them in a bad position to fight back, beat a team in the losers bracket, then beat us twice... Most teams hosting a regional will have 1 pitcher of their caliber. Only a handful will have 2. Tennessee may have 3. We're sitting at #21 in the RPI. But, we still could get a host. We're killing this conference on the stats sheet (see below). If we win just one game in the conference tourney, we'll get 40 wins on the season. Keeping TEXAS out from hosting a regional with 40 wins and this schedule just ain't right. Then again, we could choke in the conference tournament and find ourselves in Corvallis, Oregon... When we get to the third or fourth game in the regionals, and all teams are running out of pitchers, I suspect Olivarez will be the one to step up and (pleasantly) surprise most people. Harrison also has to be able to go a lot of innings--we know he's good, he's just got to go for longer in the playoffs. And we'll be in need of Southard showing up in good form--possibly logging a lot of quality innings.
