It was political but i would suggest that there was a significant return on the effort as well. Sometimes holding the line comes at a cost but the bigger cost is often letting the bad actors continue their crap with no consequences.

"However, Governor Abbott successfully persuaded Mexico states to enhance security on their side of the border," Miller added. "Both of these things are true at the same time."

The RINOs are killing us as we're seeing the same clowns who went after Trump for impeachment are caving in to gun control.

They won't fight for our culture and Constitution but by God they'll fight the real villains like Trump and his supporters. I wish we didn't need them because I'm sick of these POS.

We don't need them. We need politicians who really do value freedom. Primary the bad Republicans or vote for Libertarians. They party shifted very right this year and is will follow through for freedom. Think Thomas Massie and Chip Roy but from another party.

We do need them. People like us can't win in places like Maine.

If they are going to vote with Democrats who cares what label they have.

My main concern is Texas where we don't need squish liberals like Abbott and Cornyn. Crenshaw and Cruz are moving that way too.

You still need them for budget issues and knocking down most of Biden's nuttiness. Look, I don't like them either but you have to be realistic.

You mean like all the deficit spending over the last 20 years plus? You mean business lockdowns? You mean CRT and LGBT+ issues taking over the military and corporate America? You mean gun control?

Republicans are failing big time on all those fronts. The political system needs a reset. Most Republicans below in the Democrat Party. The few real Conservatives left need to create a new party.

the big problem with this proposal is that while you are building the 3rd party, you lose all the elections. You split the GOP vote in two pieces which allows Dem's to win the majority of state and national level elections. People who feel as you do represent maybe 1/3 of the GOP. If y'all (using proper Texan here) decide to go your own way then the dem's win most near term elections 45%D v 35%R v 20%whatevers. The better path forward is to emulate some of Trumps approach to MSM and get pol's who aren't afraid to be go toe to toe with biased media.

Yeah, well, that approach will yield what we are already doing. We are in our current situation precisely because that has been the approach of "conservatives" since WW2. Conservatives lose and lose big time with that approach.

Hope you are enjoying Pride Month because we will all be forced to celebrate it publicly in 5-10 year if we continue down the same path.

Good lord, it won’t take 5-10 years. They already get a month. Remind me, what % of the population are they?

Legitimate gay and lesbian? Small percentage. And most of us don't give two craps about all this "pride month" crap precisely because it doesn't represent us. Gay Inc. got corrupted by the trans nonsense and gays and lesbians are shunned and pushed aside...

Number of poseurs wanting to be SPE-SHUUUUL? Far too many.

And now Biden is expanding title IX? Bathrooms back in play? Oh s***!

Yep, he's "expanding Title IX" by promoting dudes playing women's sports and making girls shower and get naked in front of them.

The dicey problem and the reason I'm not ripping Biden too hard for this is that Neil Gorsuch and John Roberts took stupid pills when they ruled on the Bostock case that applied transgenderism to Title VII. The regulation is simply applying the case's logic to Title IX. Well, as much as I detest what they're doing, it makes sense. There's no reason why the Supreme Court wouldn't apply the same idiocy to Title IX that it applied to Title VII. The language at issue is similar.

Thank God for those Republicans protecting our natural rights which we also wrote in a Constitution. What would we ever do without them, except loose more rights?

You'd have Western European-style gun laws, and you'd have a Supreme Court that would allow them to be enforced.

    yep.

    Barrett 52-48 in the Senate
    Kavanaugh 50-48 in the Senate
    Gorsuch 54-45 in the Senate

Seems like we needed those 15 Senators then.....And NOW.

    I recommend a third party. I'd donate.

Seriously, the third party that needs to happen is an Independent party that composes an election plurality that represents the 50% of the middle that most reasonable people fit into. Those of you who think the modern GOP is not conservative enough, not moral enough, not God Fearing enough, and doesn't do enough to protect your access to any manner of firearms don't belong in this party. This party would not be well represented in this forum. :)

There have been qualified third-party candidates in years past, but the hurdle is getting onto the ballots. And not just on the ballots, but onto the debate stages...a hurdle made more difficult by virtue of the debate organizers looking at polling and if you don't hit a particular threshold, they don't extend an invite. This then means reasonable ideas never get viewed by a wide audience...thus leaving the third-party to be viewed as just some fringe candidate who won't qualify for matching funds.

quite a few of us would welcome an attempt at a third party by wingnuts; just as I would welcome the AOCs and Pocahontas to form their own party. You don't represent a voting bloc big enough to elect a dogcatcher in Wichita Falls. You are extremists who have a chokehold on one party in some places and got lucky and elected a godless bankrupter golf goof friend of Bill Clinton abortion supporting for most his life pos to the presidency where he completely failed to do the thing that got him elected-----stop illegal immigration. He is a petulant narcissist and your lodestar. Please do start your own party.

Rinos=people who can get elected running as republicans.

Actually, I represent a large middle. I'm not the far left ideologue that you seem to think I am. It's just that anyone left of John Birch looks that way in this forum.

Who are you talking about as the lodestar?

Yet the Right in any honest analysis has lost over and over and over again for the last 120 years. Yes, there are some pitstops at times. That is obvious. Your examples as evidence. But the overall current if farther and farther Left. The Republican Party has been ineffectual in protecting rights and reducing the scope of government.

I agree and for all my dislike of Trump i do think that is one of the key things he did for the GOP. He gave them license to get back out there and fight again. They had become passive weanies and folded anytime MSM called them a harsh name. I don't think they did it for philosophical/issue reasons. I think they folded because they thought the MSM could make or break their careers at the time and they were doing what pol's do....take care of number one. Bush's & Reagan had opportunity to really impact illegal immigration. They all screwed the pooch because they didn't want the MSM calling them racist and xenophobic. For too long, the GOP has prioritized taxing issues over most other conservative issues. That needs to stop. Taxing policy is important but it doesn't effect the fabric of our society. GOP leadership would be wise to remember that.

The overall direction of the last 120 years has been mostly to the left. That is true. However, that's a different issue from the Republican Party's blame. The big expansions of federal power took place in the 1930s and 1960s, when the Democrats had unified control of government and by big margins. Should the GOP have repealed those expansions during the brief periods when they've had narrow majorities? Ideally, yes. However, the Constitution makes repealing laws as difficult as the passage of laws. Ultimately, it's hard to do something the people don't want them to do.

It's also worth noting that donors throw money at them to screw the pooch on illegal immigration and to cut taxes. They don't throw money at them to protect the fabric of society. They don't give two squirts of piss. They should, but they don't.

I would say wildly to the left. Part of the reason is that Republicans in the 30s and 40s beat down all the real conservatives that existed in it, while the Democrats did the same. There were conservative Bourbon Democrats in the later 19th/early 20th century. The Republicans share in the blame of the leftward lurch. They let Marxists and Nazis in the country before and after WW2 and gave them high positions and money. Anyone who fought domestic Marxists was labeled an extremist or bully. Republicans took part in that too. They have a really bad track record apart from some Reagan stuff, a few tax/spending wins, and gun rights (though now who knows).

Lone Star hate: A new wave of right-wing bigotry sweeps across Texas

Welp, it's not Reagan's GOP anymore...

The Texas branch of the GOP is taking some positions that are so far in Right Field as to be out of the park. The further right they push the pendulum, the further left it may swing back. With some of the subject matter here, I guess one could say that the pendulum is "cocked hard to the Right.":confused::confused::confused:

At the state's biennial GOP convention, delegates officially declared Joe Biden an illegitimate president, proposed repealing the 1965 Voting Rights Act and voted for a platform calling on schools to teach that life begins at conception and to avoid all discussion of gender identity or sexuality. Additional planks attacked trans rights, cast gender-affirming medical care as actionable malpractice and declared homosexuality "an abnormal lifestyle choice."

Also, it looks like the Buc-ee's beaver is now the mascot of the "Proud Boys".

A number of men in the group had covered their faces with hats, sunglasses and red neck gaiters bearing the buck-toothed grin of a cartoon beaver — the mascot of rest stop franchise Buc-ee's — which has become part of the unofficial uniform of local Proud Boys.

Steph Gardella, a local candidate for justice of the peace, was seated in front of the group with her husband. She says she heard them call the LGBTQ community "disgusting" "pedophiles" and suggest that parents who brought their children to the event should be taken outside and beaten up.

And in the same DFW suburb where several of the arrested Patriot Front members live, a local fundamentalist church preaches that "all homosexuals are pedophiles" who should be "shot in the back of the head."

The area has also become a hive of activity around book bans. State Rep. Matt Krause of Fort Worth made a list of 850 books he considers suspect
