Arky left the SWC In 1991, long before Big XII was created in 1994.Their leaving the SWC was one of the factors that doomed the SWC.

Report this morning is that many pac12 teams are talking to big 12 teams about expansion.
Man this is going to get fun cause if the sec would go ahead and grab fla st and Clemson, then how ironic would it be for the value of the remaining big 12 teams be now that both coasts need expansion and the only place to sensibly pull from will be from the middle of the country. :lmao:

those remaining are going from all scared a week ago to all of a sudden thinking, dang, we may be able to parlay this into a good deal now with options.

I think it’s hilarious that Colorado wants back in.

Every ounce of every being in the state of Colorado hates everything about Texas not just football. I felt that during the summers of travel ball tournaments there with my daughter. With Texas exiting stage right (East to the SEC), Colorado would happily come back to the Big XII.

Are Texas Tech, Texas Christian, and Baylor not in Texas? Why would Colorado people not also hate them, if their hate is directed at the State of Texas and not just the University?

Brilliant literary allusion. I love that line and the way it’s delivered.

I don't understand why the six Pac-12 leftovers under consideration seem to be Arizona, ASU, Utah, CU, UW, and UO. Go west and totally skip the massive state of California? Dump ASU and ask Stanford or Cal first.

Id suggest dump ASU and Colorado. Take California teams.

Cal has been the drag on the PAC for years, and has totally held UCLA captive.

Of course, I will always hold a grudge because Berzerkley & Stanford killed Deloss' idea for the new SWC.

I think I've mentioned several times that I have NEVER met a Cal graduate that sense enough to pour piss out of a boot. In business they are collectively the dumbest group of people I've ever met.

Now they are beginning to hate California transplants - they have been "Californicated."

    Just one possibility:

The PAC ends up as a newer, better version of the old WAC—cherry picking some of the old WAC teams. The PAC will still get the courtesy of being labeled a “Power” conference for a few years, until performance downgrades them to a glorified, Western version of the Conference USA.

It kind of sucks and just doesn’t seem right. Keith Jackson would disapprove.

UCLA fits right into the profile of the Big 10 with their massive amount of research. USC not as much—and it’s a very weird cultural fit for USC with the Upper Midwesterners. So, it’s all about football markets and $$$. No surprise there, although the Big 10 has been rather sanctimonious over the years. They can point to good academic #s at USC in recent years and probably a huge $$$ endowment.

Then, there’s this: the Big 10 women will not want to have to stand beside the USC women.

Who else would the Big 10 possibly want?

Notre Dame—yes. Obviously. A long time ago ND tried to get into the Bug 10 and Michigan shut them out.

    Stanford—yes. Academics, research, and location.

    Cal—probably. See Stanford.

Oregon—No. Good recent football success, but Portland just doesn’t matter.

    Wash State/Or State/Utah/Colorado—:lmao:

Washington—yep. Fits the profile perfectly. Also location is great (or was great)

Ariz State—probably not—but wow that huge student body and Phoenix market. If they go real big for a super conference, this is a team you look at. AAU status could be a problem though.

If they could grab any two, it would be ND and Stanford.

If I was a Big 10 guy, I'd vote to go from 16 to 20. Grab, as you say, ND and Stanford to start. ND will eventually have to say yes, and this is that time. Team 3 would be Cal to close off the state. The goal here is to prevent the Big 12 or SEC from getting anyone worthwhile in the state of California. Team 4 is the only one to think about. It's not WSU, OSU, Utah, CU, or ASU, which leaves Zona, UW, or UO. Washington does sound the best of those three.

If Delany has any say any longer, he will shut down anything West of the Rockies and grab UVA & UNC, two schools he has coveted for years. More serious question is how the BigTen jettisons UMd & Rutgers, both of whom have served their financial purpose.

Stanford's only appeal has always been playing there was a nice road trip for alums, but the destruction of SFO has killed that.

There is no benefit to anyone for any reason to include Berzerkley.

They must grovel. The governor of Colorado must make an official proclamation that much of Colorado was once part of Texas, and that Texans ski better than Native Coloradans.

The governor and legislature of Colorado is so broke, they would more likely garnish CU's part of the TV contract.
