So I was asked to post pictures from my trip to Scotland. We just reached our destination, so I mainly have scenery from the road at this point.

Oh, I don't hate freedom. I just hate the notion of Deez becoming minimally armored cannon fodder.

Most of these were taken on Loch Ness or at Urquhart Castle.reduced_IMG_20220903_111105600.jpg reduced_IMG_20220903_111639527.jpg reduced_IMG_20220903_112340406.jpg reduced_IMG_20220903_132903318.jpg reduced_IMG_20220903_161916152.jpg

Very nice, I lived in Scotland for about two years, and enjoyed it.

What route did you take? Fly in / out or drive all the way to Scotland from England?

The road to Sky is beautiful, and just before you get to the coast, there's a very neat fort with a bridge over the water to the main structure - it's been in a lot of movies.

Duck, I drove from my village in Norfolk County, England to Edinburgh and drove from there to Inverness the next morning. I despise Scotland's politics and worldview. It's truly disgusting. However, it's a strikingly beautiful place.

So I came across the Singleton Distillery in Mule of Ord yesterday. I don't know diddly dick about scotch or whisky in general and just picked these up to try them. I'm open to getting into good stuff (like I did with tequila,). Are these any good, or did I waste my money?

I like single malts but I don’t have any expertise on the subject. I think the 18 yo Macallan is wonderful but I have only tried a few different brands.

Scotland is much like ATM and Texas - they have the little brother syndrome with England. Their grand plan when I lived there 20 years ago, was to become independent, that'll shows those English! Then immediately join the EU.

I'd always say "Uhh, I thought you wanted independence, how is joining the EU and having them tell you what size glass to pour beer in being independent?" The issue of course was they wanted someone else to pay for all their stuff.

No one should want the Jocs out of the UK more than the Tory party. I think every MP from Scotland is leftist, and without them, the Labor/LD's wouldn't win an election for decades, until there was a re-alignment of political parties. It would be like California leaving the US with their 45/51 or whatever the number is of Democrats to the House.

Anyway, Scotland is beautiful. If you want another nice driving tour, take the road over to Sky - it's through valleys that could be in Switzerland or such, and Sky is very striking as well.

Well said. I'm usually sympathetic to nationalist movements because I believe in the right of people to assert their sovereignty but not if the plan is to immediately forfeit that sovereignty to an oppressive and unaccountable institution like the EU.

However, my problem with Scotland is deeper than the idiotic EU fetish. They are freedom haters. They basically made Nicola Sturgeon into a dictator during COVID, which she loved, of course. They also largely embrace gender ideology and arrest and prosecute people literally for mean Tweets. It's a disgusting regime running Scotland.

I'd drink them with you. My personal preference will be for the Clynelish.

If you like good quality tequila, then the best analogy I can draw for you is the Singleton will be like a fruity highlands tequila, while Clynelish will be more akin to a high quality Mezcal, with smoky flavors underlying the spirit itself. It's an imperfect analogy of course, but the presence/absence of the smoky character should stand out to you.
