I'm assuming we're still recruiting Madison Booker, but not positive. Other than that, not sure there's anyone else.

Looking at DFW_Horns' roster from the '22-'23 season thread, you have to wonder if Vic's basically done with the '23 class altogether. If everyone just comes back next year who has any eligibility left, then two things happen: (1). We'd have what you'd think would be an incredible team, loaded with primarily Jrs, Srs and Super-Srs; (2). We'd only have 1 slot open, which I assume Vic would save for a must-have transfer next Spring. So unless something really big (and unexpected) happens in the next few months, I feel like we'll only have two signees in November. However, for the '24 class, we better really do well with all of the talent coming out of the state in that class, plus do well in the portal like this year. I hope these next two coaching hires are home-runs (sorry I'm getting into 3 other threads in this one), because recruiting is going to have to really pickup for the next class.

I believe there was some mutual interest for her at one point as per earlier in this thread:

The Madison Booker visit is certainly encouraging news! On her IG stories, she posted a photo of her with Kevin Durant.

Durant was working OT today as an ambassador for TxWBB.

I’m not sure this is a great idea. But good luck to G-Money!

Trying to wrap my head around this. I can not recall a previous occurrence at Texas.
    • Texas has the ship available...barely...we will be at the full 15 in January. (Recall that Gutierrez was put on ship)
    • It is difficult to imagine Gisella will receive a lot of playing time in January with our stacked roster. If she does, it would be remarkable.
    • It will seemingly burn one of her four eligibility years to no good purpose
It must be in her mind that she would not spend four full years in college anyway, opting to go pro at the earliest opportunity.

There are positives for Texas also. This gives Gisella an early introduction to the team style and culture, as well as the overall college experience, which will prepare her for a more expanded role next season.

Unless needed, she could always redshirt that semester and enrolling early would just be a jump start into a college S&C program as well as learning playing style and culture.

I am thinking that since she tore her ACL this summer she will take a red shirt year, be part of the team and work with Zack Zillner on recuperating her knee?

This sounds plausible. Last early Texas WBB I remember is Kim alumnus in 1995-96.

I actually think it's a great idea since she had a knee injury this summer and won't be able to play her senior season at Cedar Park. If she is ready academically, she would receive better rehab and medical treatment at Texas.

While I understand Vic giving Anissa Gutierrez a scholarship for this season was a reward for her dedication, if that had been the last (15th) ship allocated, there would have been no 'ship for Gisella for Spring 2023. So, there's always a risk/cost awarding a walk-on a 'ship (as it is for the entire academic year).

While it used to be very common for players to transfer to a new school in January (and sit out until the following season), that doesn't happen too much now. But, we won't have any room for this type of January transfer if one would come about.

I’m almost certain Gisella won’t be playing in the upcoming season. She will be joining right at the start of big 12 play and Texas is already stacked at her position so she won’t be needed. Not to mention she is coming off an ACL injury so you have to factor in conditioning, rehab, training, etc.. all of which take months to prepare for especially in Vic’s system. It’s great to get her in early so she can have a head start on the culture, system and rehab necessary but she definitely won’t be playing in the spring.

That's exactly what I was thinking. She's not enrolling early to play, but to practice, hit the weight room and the training table.

On an emotional level, Jordana and Gisella having each other while rehabbing will be great support. That way, neither is "alone" unable to participate in certain areas with the remainder of their teammates.

Narrowed to 9. Texas and Tennessee both included. Apologies, don't know how to link to Twitter.

The only things I know about Booker's recruiting process are that she took official visits to Duke and Tennessee during the summer. Not sure if she's visited anyone after her visit to Texas two weekends ago.

I couldn't help myself and decided to subscribe to the Ball Out. If they are right, Texas should be happy about Booker's decision.
