It’s clear that there is not a game we cannot lose. And frankly, there is also not a game that we cannot win.

It’s disheartening. Clearly we have better players at most positions than last year, yet today happened. We made Tech’s QB look as good as a Heisman winner. Can’t believe that I am actually writing that, but it’s true.

I love Sark. But ultimately the buck stops there. And so far, his teams are not getting it done on the field.

Losses like this reopen wounds that may have started to heal at least a bit and are big setbacks. Really sick and tired of losing these kind of games.

Kansas is quite likely superior to Texas Tech this year.

With a fatter wallet. Doesn't hurt when the bank calls to apologize that all those zeros won't fit on their normal bank statement form.

Just watched the reply cause was watching grandson play soccer and am not impressed. No way we should have lost this. No way. How in the hell do we have our qb pressured on every play and the opponent sit back and pick his receiver? Pisses me the heck off.

Our “bend don’t break” defensive strategy is extremely effective, for our opponents. It completely exhausts our plays so that at crunch time, they have nothing left.

And the two times we had them in a third and impossible, we found the only way get them a first down. And frankly, both times I expected for us to do something stupid.

This may be sacrilegious but I’ll throw it out there. Does Bijan jump cut too much, instead of simply hitting the hole and getting the yards that he can? Does he perhaps too often shoot for the home run instead of going for singles and doubles when we need them?

We do break long runs at times, but we often seem unable to sustain a drive with a reliable ground game when it’s really needed. That was certainly the case tonight.

So did I. I had zero confidence that Texas would be able to get a stop when needed. Haven't been able to since when, last year's KSU game?

tech had nothing to lose, so they game-planned all or nothing going for it on 4th downs. it worked for them. Plus they went with their strength, small ball, short passes and occasional qb runs. Qb was strong, hard to bring down. They stuck with their game plan in the second half.
We just didn't move the ball in second half.

This reminds me of how I said at the time, correctly, that Emmit Smith was a far more effective running back that Barry Sanders. Yes of course the Cowboys were a better team than the Lions. But if you needed 3 yards for a game winning first down, Emmit would get it. dragging whoever he needed to along the way.

Sanders made for great highlight footage, where he'd cut one way then another then back again and then make the break for an 80 yard TD. But the replay would never show the times he tried that and got tackled for a loss, or when it was 3rd and 3 and get danced around and got 2.

I think Bijan has the same issues. Looks great when it works, but if you need to move the chains when it counts, he gets tackled short.

Are you agreeing with me that Texas now is at the bottom of the Big 12, A spot Kansas used to occupy?

They stormed the field after beating a team that won 5 games last year. We may have lost the game but we still own a lot of real estate inside the heads in Lubbock.

just no will to win - if we were a good team or potentially a good team, we find a way to win yesterday, not continually make plays to lose

We still have much work to be done along the LOS on both sides of the ball..........yesterday sucks no doubt but until our line play is where it needs to be yesterday will happen.

No desire on Texas teams anymore. We showed a flash against alabama. Nothing since. Good thing we are not playin aggies. They would clean this teams clock.

We own real estate in heads all over the country. Must have seen 5 different games yesterday where fans of random, non Big 12 teams were doing Horns down. Crazy.

Unfortunately that does not make me feel better if we can't back it up.

Hate to beat the dead horse but we have played 1 game of descent defense in 1 year an 4games of pk. Yesterday was just as miserable as all of last year. If Sark will not make the change then CDC needs to make it for him. If you score more than 30 points thats enough to win most games. Yes the offense is limited with Card but he didnt screw the pooch yesterday. Ewers gives us a whole different team but he doesnt change pk. Even though I love ou losing yesterday it doesnt change how disappointed I am in how pathetic our d has become. No lane integrity, no setting the edge, 10 yard cushion on receivers. Yes it will eventually end but when.

This is an area of great weakness for Sark. Either he — or someone upstairs — isn’t paying attention. We lucked out last week when, at the last second and only because UTSA was slow to snap the ball, did we have a bad call reversed. That catch by Whittington last night was critical (game direction changing) and Sark did nothing to challenge it. He could’ve even taken a delay of game penalty — that would’ve cost us about 1 yard — to give the booth more time.

Again, either he’s not paying attention or someone upstairs needs to be replaced. This isn’t new. It is very disturbing.

I am seeing some of the same types of Hermanesque deficiencies in Sark with respect to these kinds of issues, and clock management. Never thought I would say that.

I’ll hold further prognostication until I see this team and staff play 8 full, meaningful quarters with Ewers. But if that team shows up yesterday for the rest of the season, it’ll be a repeat of last year. There’s a lot of ball left to be played and everything on the table to play for, but very disheartening result. If we can’t get a pass rush, we can’t also play bend don’t break defense AND no playmakers step up and make plays to get off the field.
