    (1) Sark fires PK?

    (2) Quinn Ewers steps back onto the field?

Sadly, I believe PK gets fired before Ewers plays again. This guise of dressing Ewers each week is a farce. Either he can play, or he can't.

I cant see Ewers turning this team around. Too many other problems. OL,Defense.Play calling, mentality. Ewers is one player. 5-6 this year. I just hope we can hold on to our recruits.

Sark has ZERO trust in Card. Absolutely none!

But Sark has got to find a way to do a better play calling job with Card's limitations. If Ewers returns next week, I think we get back on track and win 9.

Zero trust? Then why is he starting him? That says a lot about the alternatives and he does have some.

Some would argue that our offense's lack of second half productivity gave Tech too many opportunities. While I see some logic in that argument, my response to our D is, get a stop, get your asses off the field and you won't have to defend 100 plays.

I prefer tech's game plan. attack hard through the air. how about slot receivers running crossingroutes and have the wide receivers run deep to open that side. there are so many ways to get open. WR runs medium deep puts on the brakes and comes back. throw the ball at the proper time and it's a 12 to 15 yard gain. and again we are not throwing to rbs enough out in the flats. mix this with occasionalhandoffs but also play action fakes. oh, and how about misdirection and, hold on to your chair, an occasional trick play. KEEP THE DEFENSE GUESSING DANG IT.

Problem is Sark had multiple upper class 5 star linemen, 5 star receivers, 5 star rbs, with a 5 star QB and he could call plays. With our team you have to be more creative.
    DINK, DUNK AND DEEP.
How about back shoulder stuff. master it in practice.
stop with the balanced offense. pass the ball more.
Roschon's chip and catch was a thing of beauty btw

    Dang.
I missed the fire x person by 4 games.
Before the season I predicted fire threads would start halftime against ULM.
If anyone gets fired soon, and they won’t, but regardless the clock starts on the next fire x revolution.
So PK has a proven track record of success. UT defense has not for years.
16 games later- PK is 100% to blame?
No guys, this is a freight train that has to slow down, stop and reverse.

    Patterson was the savior, right?

If I had to bet $1,000 … the safe bet is all the things we say “sark” thinks are completely incorrect.
Hell, my wife of 36 years has about a 22.1% correct guess accuracy rate on my thoughts. But somehow we know game plans, trusts, and what sarks thinking…. And on we can’t even correctly guess the color of his eyes.

Dang I wished Texas would get 420 friendly soon and would mellow this group out.

We are headed in the right direction. Ark beat Aggie and Aggie escaped, KSU beat OU- physically, several other top teams escaped a loss this weekend.

I think 2 will happen first, because I don't think Sark will fire PK during the year. I think Ewers gets back on the field at some point. Probably after we lose to OU.

He needs to promote Patterson during the press conference today.
    That would be a start.

Love you. NR. Always one of the more sensible voices here.
I get so tired of this crap. Should have known before I came to peek after the loss.
    Overreactions galore as usual.
Newsflash.....Unless you are one of the top 4 or 5 teams in a given year... which almost no reasonable person expected us to be when the season started....these are things that happen. Imperfect teams with imperfect coaches have bad weekends...multiple ones.
If some trends reemerge and the season goes the way of last year ...then worry.
For now, recognize this is what football looks like for 85-90% of fanbases...outside of those years you are on top or near the top.
We have a deep hole to climb out of and I don't know if it is about to happen or not, but the odds of it happening in 15 games were tiny to begin with. Chill, support the team and coaches and lets see where we are in about 4 or 5 weeks.

Let me ask you guys a question, seriously think about this...
Most of you picked the team to have 3-5 losses this season...
What did you think the losses would look like??????????????????????????????????
How many losses did you think you'd be saying....Wow, great coaching, loved the playcalling, the O was great, the D was great, officiating great, the team looked prepared, energized, great gameplan, focus, execution, effort was there.....Can't believe we lost!!

    Now, whats the disconnect here?

Let me ask you a couple of questions. Do you think it's acceptable for a coach to be creative in the 1st half and rack up 279 yards of offense and fold up into a shell worse than Greg Davis and continually try to run through a brick wall in the 2nd half? Do you think that's acceptable? Do you think it's acceptable for a coaching staff that probably makes about 1/3 of our staff to completely outcoach our staff?

People aren't pissed because we lost, they are pissed because of HOW we lost. And it's not for the reasons you cited. It was for 1 reason that a Middle School coach can easily correct.

    I hear you, Run.
Acceptable? I dont know what that even means...but I'll say it certainly isn't a good idea and i didn't like it.
My point is these are the kinds of things present in 95% of losses, so....fine to point them out....but freaking out and going nuclear fire the coach and the sky is falling etc just makes no sense to this football fan...none.

Not sure I buy that. What were the hypothetical ways we could have lost instead that would have been completely fine?

How many times have we all screamed at the TV….”no, don’t go for it, kick the field goal”,,, then boom a first down.
Or the Wildcat that did indeed work several times.
Granted, it didn’t once and we point at that one fail.
Geez, UT should be able to power a run play for a few yards,,, most of the time they do.
My point is that we all, including me, don’t include the field decisions we were against if they work. Ever.
20 years in this board not one time do I recall anyone saying…” throwing deep in 3rd and two was absurd!” when the play results in a touchdown.

If UT wins in OT, we’d be happy that the team showed resilience. Sure we’d ***** , but we bitched after ULM a little.

Virtually none. That's my point. Unless you think your coaches and team are going to be near perfect all year...if you expect to have 3-5 losses...then you have to know the reasons you lost wont be pretty..and certainly not in JoeFan's view.
Why act surprised and freak out or act like the sky is falling and it's not normal stuff? It IS normal stuff...not good...but normal for any team and fanbase who isn't top 5 and winning all or almost all their games.

    I predicted an 8 W season.. with some unexpected W’s & L’s both ways.
Tech was an expected W for me, OU was an expected L.
I’ll be happy as hell if these flip.
I would have gladly supplanted Tech for OU when I predicted 8 Ws and I’ll crow louder than that jackass raven that sits in my tree if I am able to Oct. 8.

And yes, I used supplanted to sound intelligent.

We have a young O line and a qb who lacks velocity on downfield throws. The O line will improve some and Ewers is very good downfield. Things will get better. I am sticking with my 8-4 guess

Sark is playing O conservative because he has no viable pick for qb after Ewers and Card

    things will get better

Yeah, I am not on the fire anyone train. It is a hard pill to swallow that despite all the luxuries of Texas, all the highly paid coaches, facilities, recruits, fan base, legacy, Texas is 7-9 in two years with one power 5 road win and too many blown leads against quality comp to count... oof. Sark needs to figure it out. The frustration for me is that this was the exact script of all the losses last year. Solid first half, then nothing after halftime and slowly piss the game away. There have been signs of improvement that I have seen, but we are still 2-2 with those losses being blown leads in the 4th against power 5 teams.

It's arguable there's a lot more parity in the XII than last year (or really any recent season). Firing someone when pretty much everyone is "even" across the board just to send the point that blowing a lead is unacceptable? Meh. Everyone in the conference is capable of the same. My guess is we'll end up beating someone that we were losing to at halftime this season.

Also, I don't think PK is any more responsible for the mental toughness of the D than Sark or the position coaches. Blowing a 3rd-and-26 sucks, but looking up at the booth and pointing at PK like "why did you fail to teach Guilbeau to have the mental wherewithal to NOT interfere on that play?" is not the response we need right now.

I still think this team has the ability to win games like we had last weekend. Especially if the QB is playing at 90+% and the line goes back to what was working. It wouldn't surprise me if it happened this weekend.
