Several of y'all are on Sling TV

I saw someone say that Sling TV sucks, but several use it.

    I can't save a lot leaving uverse...pros and cons?

For $70 month you can get on Vidgo.com and stream it and that includes the LHN.

good to know. it looks like Sling would be $46 for what I want. $35 plus the sports package for $11.

I have Sling almost strictly for the LHN and some other sports offerings (ESPN validation and whatnot). It's okay--the interface, the channel selection, the DVR function, it's all okay. Not great shakes, but it's nice to be able to watch from just about anywhere.

Sling is fine. It's way cheaper than DirecTV Stream, which I had back in its infancy for $15/month. Those seem to be the only streaming services left that actually carry LHN.

Vidgo is technically illegal, but if you use a VPN you're fine. IPTV "services" aren't allowed to sell streams of packaged satellite and cable channels. They give college kids $10/month to install a homecooked media streamer on their cable packages from their dorm rooms and leave it on 24/7 so that they can convert the IP signal into their own streaming media. Just pretend you're from Oklahoma or something with your VPN.

I have Sling but have pared back somewhat...that decision came after VSIN and Sling parted ways. I kept it for RedZone but then at the end of the season, I'll likely stop the subscription until next year.

They used to have some three-day trials and I exhausted a lot of throwaway email addresses while deciding whether to subscribe or not. They ask for a CC information but as long as you canceled before the 72 hours was up, you were good to go with no charges.

I've not had any real issues with the service itself and it has been what I used to stream news in the office when I didn't have VSIN running.

I just looked at the Sling Channel list (click here and then click on one of the 'View All' links), and I'm not seeing ABC or CBS, can that be right? And Fox and NBC are only available in "Select Markets", what? I have DirecTV's initial tier for $70/mo, get all the major channels, and then upgrade for an extra $20 to get LHN during UT baseball season.

In my area local channels are not available on Sling; only by antenna.

Are local channels available on any streaming service? That's what a HD antenna is for. But you have to have a window facing the stations and a clear path. If there's a mountain in between you're screwed.

Local networks are available on most streaming services that are basically just cable service competitors (YouTube TV, Hulu+Live TV, DirecTV Stream), but you're basically just buying cable service at that point. Cord cutters shouldn't prefer that for competition reasons, but it's basically come full circle since about 2015.

In areas where Spectrum is the cable provider, it's actually cheaper to buy their full TV + Internet + Phone package, hook up one of their cable boxes to a TV you never use, and then stream everything through their Spectrum app on pretty much any device. They also carry LHN.

Exactly. I have a big hill between me & 2 local stations rendering them inaccessible to me via antenna.

Right now, a package of Spectrum with 400MB dl, 140 tv channels, and home phone runs for $110/month (for 12 months though). But if you buy their 400MB Internet service alone, that's $80. Add in Sling TV (the cheapest of the streaming options) and the sports package that includes LHN, and you're looking at $125/month. A better streaming service with live local channels like DirecTV Stream runs at $80/month for their base package, so then you're looking at $160/month.

Even my wife understands that using Spectrum is the cheapest option if you want to stream.

With Sling, I'd be getting most all channels I want, including the LHN, for $46 and use a digital antenna for the other two local networks.

And it's accessible from my phone or laptop anywhere.

I heard the image quality wasn't awesome, and some said the app was a bit wonky. But I don't see how I can get that cheap anywhere else for 95% of what I want.

It includes Bally Sports for the Mavs games as well. I hate Bally as a company but want the Mavs games.

I have Sling Orange with sports package. It's okay, yes, a "bit wonky". Rewind & fast forward are a bit iffy. Sometimes desired recorded programs are not available "on demand", but do become available eventually. If you get Orange & Blue, you can watch on 3 devices simultaneously (can share with family/friends &/or have it in multiple rooms @ home) but with only Orange OR Blue you can only use on 1 device at a time.

Try it for a month...if you don't like it it's easy to cancel.

A month is not even needed...do the free promo for the three days or whatever it is. As easy as it is to get throwaway email addresses, you can actually get through an entire season before HAVING to pony up...

I understand now. You're considering the first 12 month discount package pricing. Thanks for responding.

I Sling just for the early LHN games then unsubscribe. If LHN showed more of what I want to see, I would likely keep it year round. Unfortunately, also lots of woke shows intermingled with some sports I like. All personal preference.

As of yesterday, Sling no longer carries LHN, ESPN, etc. due to its contract dispute with Disney. Was hoping to watch Texas Gameday and Texas Gameday Final but the channels were gone. Canceled my subscription yesterday (I already have YouTube TV).

In fact, all of these channels have been removed from Sling until further notice:
ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN 3, ESPN OnDemand, ESPNEWS, ESPNU, ESPN Deportes, Disney Channel, Disney Jr, Disney XD, ACC Network, ACC Network Extra, Longhorn Network, SEC Network, SEC+, Freeform, FX, FXM, FXX, Nat Geo, Nat Geo Wild, etc.
