    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

Friends of mine from Mexia consider themselves East Texas, so that is the only reason I stated East Texas for that town...

    Sorry, getting way off topic.

Don't think it really works to clump 5-7 in there with 10-4 and 7-3.

    Back on topic, I think pre-season I stated 8-4 with upside 9-3.

Right now 8-4 looks like an optimistic upside!

I lived in Huntington & Nacogdoches, worked in Lufkin, Newton, Jasper, Nac. I agree 100%. Some people are geographically challenged. Especially people who don't travel much.

We have heard this for so many years its wearing thin. I just dont understand why as an athlete there isnt more pride. If its there, it doesnt show thru. Sam showed it when he stood alone and sang the Eyes of Texas but very few have that pride.

    Legend
Last year I would have agreed with you. Last year it looked like the team quit.
    This year is entirely different.
Do you think the team or parts of the team quit? Or didn't play hard enough?

This is a huge game for Sark, we lose this one, recruiting is going to start taking hits. Need to beat OU too, Sark needs a quality win against a ranked opponent.

This is a college football message board so yes posters have opinions. Heck, some of us even sponsor so we can opine on the program.

I like your optimism and I like Sark and the team. I generally do not call out individual players, but the head coach is fair game. He has done a great job prepping for games. But either he changes his plan when up in the second half or the other coach out adjusts him in the second half (at least so far.)

He needs to go balls out for four quarters. Ewers will make a difference. The Tech coach played to win while we tried to not lose in the 2nd half.

Agree completely. Sark got rid of the ROT that was killing this team for years. This team is playing and acting like a team even in two losses. Humility has returned and replaced the laughing and giggling after a loss. Jeez I almost walked away forever when they wouldn't sing the Eyes. win or lose

I like your first sentence and generally try to do the same but as they are now officially professionals a little more criticism is fair.

I think it’s more plan than adjustments. Remember last year versus OU when Wirthy demolished them on that deep over route? We used it multiple times. But do you remember seeing it in other games?

Then versus Tech - Robinson-Johnson-Robinson in diamond formation equals TD. I don’t know that we saw it again. We used Wildcat to our detriment one drive in half two. In the second half, we simply tried to run too much. It is execution, but a well timed play call makes execution simpler. A jet sweep to Whitt, an early down play fake with a dump off to the TE. Modest success on those type of plays slows the defense down half a step. Until our Oline can dominate, we need that type stuff and it too often disappears.

This is just one problem hiring a former addict, be it drugs or alcohol. Their focus on what's important gets blurred and misplaced. In his experience, overcoming adversity is a major accomplishment. God bless him, he overcame the demons

But for the rest of us that don't fight addictions, his priorities are horse ****. We want to win, play clean and by the rules and don't embarrass the university, alumni and exes. If you (sark) need a template for what our program needs to look like, study up on someone named Darrell Royal. That would be helpful....

As someone in recovery and clean and sober for over 35 years I can say you are way off base and insulting to boot.
Every football coach you talk to will tell you they are preparing these young men for life in and outside of football.
They will tell you football and the ups and downs are symbolic of life in general.
They are not only coaches but teachers and in many cases father figures.
Way too much is being made of that statement.
    And you are horribly misinformed.

The injuries to QE, Angilau and Neylor liked cost us 2 games. That is why I was leaning to 6-6 when the season began after just the injuries to Angilau and Neylor

I would say teaching them how to with the right way and not embarrass themselves or the university is preparing them for how to be successful in life.

Football exposes character more than it builds it. Look at police blotters, full of former athletes. I am not condemning football or sports, I played every sport you can name (football, baseball, golf, ice hockey) thru high school and was a competitive triathlete into my late 30s.

The older I get I realize sports builds character, but no more than kids that compete in debate or chess. Time bears this out. Look at how they handled life's adversity.

Back to sark. I don't care about his addictions. He's the head coach here, and has **** the bed over and over again. He's done more for kansas football since gale sayers, so he has that going for him.

I'm glad you've overcome. Seriously, I am. But if you had Sarkisian's record here I'd call you out just as you would me. The fact he's giving silver linings (golly we're gonna overcome this ineptitude some day) doesn't cut it. 'Go take that to The AA Field' as Jimmy Johnson would say

And fan message boards expose peoples character, as well.
    I'm all for winning games.
But to degrade a whole segment of our society is *********.

I didn't "degrade" anyone. I just wouldn't place our program in an alcoholics hands. I'm not calling him names I'm stating fact.

You obviously do care about his addictions or you wouldn't have brought it up in such a degrading fashion.

    Sark:
    Washington 34-29
    SCal 12-6
    Texas 7-9

At three power five teams that have national championships, Sark is 53-44 with a winning percentage of .546.

Regardless of physical or mental deficiencies including addictions, mental breakdowns and hemorrhoids, you are what your record says you are.

Sark is not the answer, but was the best choice available and we should view him as a placeholder until the right coach is available. Who that coach would be is debatable, but Sark is not the answer.

After reading this thread I'm so glad I was away from the board for a few days. Reminds me of 2002 or 2009 or 2013 or really any year or date after a couple losses.

If you're speaking of my posts, I didn't criticize anyone for criticizing coaches.
I criticized the denigration of a whole segment of our society in which I happen to belong.

If you weren't speaking of my post, well then, never mind.
