I found it interesting that Booker stated that the contact with Texas stopped for a while earlier this year; she mentioned perhaps it was because of the changes in the coaching staff. I wonder if it had to with Texas gaining the verbal commitment of Sammie Wagner back in March. I had thought Maul, Wagner, and Booker were similar players (I don't any longer); in the end, I think things worked out for the best for Texas.

Two take aways from this short clip...
    1) Recruits do pay close attention to staff changes.
    2) Ultimately it's the head coach they come to play for.

And, they notice when communication from particular programs decreases. They might not know the exact reasons why, but they notice the change.

True, but in the end, the head coach is the reason they come to play…. She made that very clear.

Really good get for Vic and his staff. She has the potential to be a game changing player if she continues to improve.

IMO, I think it depends on the individual player. They obviously come to play for the head coach, but an assistant coach and their relationship with a player can also be the deciding factor. I always felt that a player like Ariel would not have ended up at UT if it weren't for Jalie. Also, the Chavez kid may or may not end up coming to UT, but I guarantee you that Coach Lovato's relationship with her will be very important.

2025 Aaliyah Chavez posted a photo of Madison Booker's commitment from today as her current Instagram story. I'll take that as a huge sign she's paying attention to what's happening at Texas.

Obviously, she did hang out with Booker a couple of Saturday's ago while visiting Texas; have no idea if that was their first meeting, or if they've met before during summer ball.

I noticed Booker said that Schaefer told her he’s had a player like her before and I honestly can’t think of a player that can do what Booker does. There may be similarities in players but Madison’s ability to handle the ball and shoot to go along with her solid frame sets her apart from the rest. Not to mention she uses her body extremely well so she can literally play the 1-4 position. Can’t wait to get her on campus and see the player she becomes:hookem:

Shaylee Gonzales should be listed on next season and Jordana will be a RS FR in 23-24

Booker has a very special skill set and level of athleticism. She's like a Rori in a larger body at a different position.

Those are 2 possibilities but it's no sure thing Shaylee plays next season and I haven't heard an official announcement on Jordana. That might be mentioned in Vic's media session today.

Dare I say she is somewhat like what we all hoped Joyner would become?

    Thanks for the update!

Come January, you can add Gisella Maul to this season's roster even though she is likely redshirting.

If Gonzales returns next season, we will be full. If she moves on, we look to have only one slot open for an incoming transfer next season; of course, we know all too well how quickly things change . . .

But, Vic told her he's coached a similar type of player, right?

I was assuming he meant at Mississippi State. I guess it could be before MSU; maybe he meant A&M's Danielle Adams . . .

Shaylee is a Junior, athletically-she should be listed on a scholarship chart for next year; a scholarship isn’t available until she states she isn’t playing her senior year.

Jordana had surgery two weeks ago.

He was more than likely talking about Vivians. Although they're not the same exact kind of player, they do have some similarities.

Different positions. UT hasn't really had a bunch a big wing players that you could compare her to. Ironically, I think that she's the kind of player that we hope Ndjakalenga turns into. At least interms ball handling and her overall offensive skill set.

Booker still needs to work on her defense and conditioning, which isn't that much different than most young players. IMO, she would be an instant contributor on offensive if she was on the team this year. But we know that doesn't really mean anything to Vic if you can't play defense.

The very general parallels I was getting at are small player skills in a big girl's body.
