Seeing several of Letycia Vasconcelos 2023 teammates at Montverde Academy announcing their commitments. Cori Allen announced for Illinois yesterday; and Jordy Griggs announced for Kentucky.

Wondering if Vasconcelos is taking a fifth official visits somewhere this weekend, or if she'll be announcing a decision soon (like her teammates).

Aalyah Del Rosario to LSU. I don’t know I just will never understand players wanting to play for that witch and parents trusting their children with her.

She just started following BaylorWBB on Instagram (assuming I'm viewing the most recent follows).

And, when I went back to look, BaylorWBB was no longer present at the top of the list I'd seen earlier today. So, could be that IG just acts up and does some weird refresh every now and again. She might have been following them for quite while (and I mistakenly read it as today), and then they appeared at the top of the list but not necessarily indicative of the most recent follow.

Maybe someone else can visit her IG account to check it out for themselves . . .

I just checked and it doesn’t show Baylor at the top but a few spots down about 20-25 range so I think she’s been following Baylor.

Collen must be 1 hell of a saleswoman to be able to get good recruits to:
    1. Move to Waco
    2. Enroll in a mediocre university with some very troublesome recent history, beliefs and practices
    3. Have faith in a program‘s continued success (built by a coach with a much more successful track record than her own)

1.Really. 2 Something Coach Conradt said many years ago may be even more true today. Something to the effect that if it didn’t happen in the last ten minutes, they (college age students) don’t know about it. Could have been two weeks - don’t think it was as long as a year. 3. Collen has an appealing personality based on her interviews. I expect she sells her recent WNBA experience very well. Her style of play may also be attractive to young players.

I will add that we know Vic’s style is not going to appeal to some (a lot?) of players. That’s o.k. Rori, for example, loves it! She often mentions that Vic’s defense is one reason she wanted to play for him.

This might have been playing time related too. Baylor is in desperate need for a big from what I can tell. Also, candidly, I was concerned about where we were going to find a roster spot if she committed to Texas. After the success in the offseason with the portal, this particular loss is not likely to be any kind of an issue with our roster. And we also need as much space as possible for the really stacked 2024 class.

Certainly couldn’t sell her WNBA success.

In fairness to her, she did win the conference. But it's a really good pickup for them. If anything else, she'll be a good defensive presence for them. You can't teach 6'7 with that kind of mobility. As for Vic and his staff, the pickens are very slim for quality centers at the high school level now.

They're going to have to hope that some quality center prospects come on the market from the transfer portal. And that Abbie has solid development in the next couple of years.

But it's not looking very good right now for them interms of getting a future center that can come in and be a contributor and possibly be a high level player right off the bat. Which kind of worries me because it's the most difficult position to find quality players at in basketball.

This just means we have more space on the roster for 2024 Adhel Tac. ;)

    Agreed.

Vic has stated a couple of times recently that Sonya Morris is our only "senior" this season. I took that to mean that both Taylor Jones and Femme could possibly return next season. Hadi Faye still has 2 seasons of eligibility remaining after this season. So, that's 3 upperclassmen Centers on the roster next season. Vasconcelos would be competing with them for playing time next season; not all incoming signees want to face that much competition on the depth chart.

Personally, I'm not thinking Femme returns next season; so, that would have been the scholarship for Vasconcelos (unless there's unexpected attrition).

As for the portal, we'll face the same issue (depth chart) convincing a Center to join the program next season.

Not bringing in Vasconcelos for 2023 does increase our chances with 2024 Adhel Tac (as others have already mentioned).

I'd be willing to bet that Tac is (and has been) at the top of our recruiting priority list.

Looks like Booker enjoys bringing some flair to her game. If so, it’ll be interesting to see how Schaefer manages seeing that. I’ll bet he embraces it, although the old school coach just wants the easy play.

IMO, she could easily be described as a point forward similar to Sammie Wagner but with more tempo and aggressiveness. A better fit for what Vic wants in transition and on defense.

(Early) National Signing Period starts 1 week from tomorrow (11/9 to 11/16). I doubt we see any additions to the current class:
    • W Madison Booker, 6' 1", #12 ESPN / #4 ASGR / #10 ProspectsNation
    • G Gisella Maul, 5' 11", #38 ESPN / #53 ASGR / Not in ProspectsNation's Top 25 (enrolling in January)
    • C Abbie Boutilier, 6' 9", NR

Abbie Boutilier posted an IG story that she will be signing her NLI on November 9 at 7:15 AM. She's been committed for so long, and doesn't seem like she ever waivered (as afar as what I noticed on social media; visiting Texas so many times the last couple of years; not visiting any other schools). I bet she thought this day would never come having to wait so long.

Moooo…..you’re correct as I remember it. Can’t remember her exact story but seems like she and her parents made up their minds really early for whatever reasons and that was that. Will be interesting to see her story again at some time in the future. I’ve mentioned on here that her Flower Mound HS is about five miles from where I live. So am ashamed never gone to see her play. Now that she ACTUALLY signs her NLI, I’ll look for a competitive game and see how she looks. Will have to wear my TEXAS gear to support her. We all know she’ll be a significant developmental player…..and that’s perfectly fine. It’s nice to see a REALLY committed kid.
