Looks like OU has all their firepower back, with the seemingly perennial Madi Williams (19 pts), Taylor Robertson (13), and Ana Llanusa (13) pouring it on Oral Roberts 105-94.

Oral Roberts was 16-15 last year.

Hmmm, I wonder what aspect of the game OU might be vulnerable?

I noticed ORU had a couple of Ok St transfers in their starting lineup that accounted for 31 points. It appears the OU starters averaged about 20 min each so I’m not going to read too much into that defensive performance

6'6" Stephanie Soares is a game changer for Iowa State, especially anchoring the defense. She changes the complexion of the team on both ends of the court. 15 pts, including 1-2 from BTA, 14 rebs, 4 blks, 4 stls.

The real test is when she goes up against Monika Czinano and the Hawkeyes on Dec. 7. Speaking of Iowa, they're over-ranked at #4.

Oklahoma is worse defensively this year than last. I don’t care if it was the first game of the season giving up 94 points to oral roberts is ridiculous. Do they even practice defense?

Bailer not looking awe-inspiring at all tonight vs. SMU. Edwards not playing at all and Blackwell went 0 for 4 and hasn't played since the 1st qtr (Bay only leading 50-46 with just 6 mins left in the game!). But the worst part was when their homer color commentator on this broadcast was just talking about the Texas/UCONN game, and said "I thought Texas played well considering they were without their starting PG Torey Hunter". WTF? :e-face-tears:

Tech falls to Jackson St in the Preseason WNIT 69-63.
Chevalier was the last of six bench players to get on the court with a stat line 0-1 FG and 1 PF in 9 minutes (Stanford must be beside themselves losing that portal battle with Sand Aggy I tell ya).

Baylor hangs on to beat SMU at home, 58-55. Apparently, Blackwell went down with an apparent knee injury.

I know Baylor is our rival but I hate hearing about players going down with knee injuries. Hopefully it’s not serious. I want our team and theirs to be at full strength when we play them this season.

I think edwards is waiting on a waiver. Baylor has not looked good this year and if Blackwells injury is serious or could be a long season for Cullen and company.

I'm not sure what the issue is, but she shouldn't require a waiver. She sat out her first season at Kentucky after transferring from Utah. So, she has not used her one-time transfer exception providing immediate eligibility. Perhaps certain of her credits didn't transfer from UK to BU.

Per Nicki Collen, Edwards is in fact waiting on the NCAA to grant her an eligibility waiver. No specifics were given

Luther, this is clearly the correct thing to believe and to say, and my compliments for expressing this opinion.

However, you are a better person than I am, because I just can't go there. Just my twisted version of schadenfreude, but with some teams and some coaches, I find satisfaction in their misfortunes.

There is a difference in wishing the best for the person, which I do, versus wishing the best for a program. Texas has (witness UConn) and will suffer our own misfortunes, so it evens out in the end.

AC is a head case prompted by her parents to believe she is the next coming of wbb royalty. I feel bad for her in a way. She will go through the rest of her life with a chip on her shoulder believing her bb career was stolen from her. ttu took her not because of her playing skills but as a childish way for their coach to throw shade at Vic. I think brnkj is correct. At the right school she might be a standout but probably not at a D-1 level.

I'm sure there is a lot of (mis)information out there about Edwards. I have no idea what is accurate, but Collen has to be vague due to privacy issues.

I listened to comments made by Collen yesterday in this audio clip (starting at around the 22 minute mark). The host indicates that December 18 or so might be the date of Edwards being able to play; that timing is once final exams are over, and the Fall semester is officially concluded. So, it's almost as if she is ineligible this entire semester (for whatever reason).

Its pretty clear at this point that Vic Schaefer is the coach who was able to bring the most out of AC. Had she stayed, she would have gotten playing time and continued to be developed. No one will ever get her to play as hard as Vic did. And won't it be ironic if the highlight of her athletic career was the Elite8 ring she received playing for the team, coach and school that she claims screwed her up? I guess she'd rather be the last person off the bench.

The thread about AC made me wonder about how our transfers-out were doing in terms of playing time. If you leave because you don't like the coach or think you deserve more playing time, how does reality look? In terms of playing time rank, this is counted in terms of minutes played, as recorded by the NCAA. Note that Rori isn't listed because technically she hasn't played an official game, yet. Also, the team size is bigger than what the ranking lists. It's just that some players like Anissa haven't logged any time at all.

I was thinking pretty much the same thing. After a couple of years with Vic he would have found a way to utilize her to the best of her abilities, and would have only gotten better going against Rori, JAT, Kendall, Shalee, Sonya, etc every day in practice. She may have been the starting PG in that game at UConn with Rori out, but instead she was barely off the bench in a loss to Jackson State in Lubbock.

racerx5908, could you explain the playing time rank? Sorry it's not clear to me what, for example, 7/10 for Ebo means - she ranks 7th in minutes played (?) out of 10 what?

I laughed because you expressed a mouthful of negatives in that last sentence!
    1. barely off the bench
    2. loss to Jackson State
    3. in Lubbock

Not racer, but the denominator is the number of players on the team that registered minutes. (E.g., Texas had 9 for our first two games.)

Very interesting post. Thanks. The one that surprises me is Aliyah. Is she injured or otherwise unavailable?

Mildly surprised that Latasha is not earning minutes.

Now that you volunteered, the Board expects you to keep this table up-to-date throughout the season. ;)

The first number is the player's rank in terms of total minutes played. The second number is the number of players with any minutes recorded by the NCAA.

For instance, Shaylee 1/9. She's got the most minutes of the 9 players with stats recorded.

    But Texas has 14 players!

But not all 14 players have recorded any stats in 2 official games, including Rori Harmon.

To be as fair as possible (and I have absolutely no idea if this is why her playing time is limited) Chevalier missed at around two weeks (possibly first two weeks) of practice and was in a boot. She very well could be a starter eventually for all I know. This was all I could glean from her social media and the only way I knew she was in a boot is because she attended the wedding of an assistant coach (the infamous recruiting coordinator I believe) and it was visible in one pictures. Since I brought her up this most recent time I wanted to offer as much benefit of the doubt as possible.

Lattimore had a breakout game against Boston U coming off the bench for 25 points, 10 rebounds (4 offensive), 1 Block, 1-1 3FG, 4-5 FT, 10-14 FG, 1 Steal only 1 foul in 22 minutes. I saw the highlights and she looked fantastic, in control, athletic and agile.
I hated to lose her and stat lines like that…

I don't understand the drop off in Faye's minutes. She was having good preseason productivity in the games against DePaul and Wayland Baptist.

In the DePaul game, she played for 14 minutes and had 11 pts, 10 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 turnover.

In the Wayland Baptist game, she played for 24 minutes and had 17 pts, 8 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 turnover.

She got 5 minutes in each of the Louisiana and UConn games. She played so few minutes that she didn't register any stats.

I understand that Taylor Jones has entered the picture and made the case that she should be a starter. But when Moore and Gaston get into foul trouble or aren't producing, I would like to see what type of havoc the combo of Jones and Faye can produce in the paint.

That's it. Vic just has so many choices which create more front court permutations than my probability classes could prepare me to count.

No doubt he will get around to pairing Jones and Faye which I agree would be interesting.
