He is saying not all energy is the same even though it can all be measured in kWh.

Except your phone batteries deteriorate relatively quickly. Your car? Whose to say. Sure costs a lot more to replace than my iPhone battery.

EV batteries also deteriorate, especially in hot locations like Texas. The cost to replace the battery pack is equivalent to totaling your car in a crash.

ENVX is doing some exciting things regarding battery architecture, capacity, charging time, and cycle life.

Assume battery timeline development is 100 years (2001-2100). By then, we will have modular fission reactors and large scale fusion reactors supplying the batteries. The over-emphasis on wind and solar between 2001-2040 will seem laughable in the future. Just use natural gas until the transition occurs.

I think that weenie one on the right is what Deez has to deal with while living in Europe.

Hell, I'd kill to have one of those units on the right. I had those in the Azores, and they actually worked pretty well so long as they were reasonably well-maintained. Have you seen the ghetto units I had in Germany and now have in the UK with the stupid exhaust hose hanging out the window? I've posted a picture before. They are pathetic by comparison - ten times worse.

Driving through West Texas Sunday, it did my heart good to see almost every stripper well running and flare stacks going. Not a single windmill turning.

Due to blizzard conditions coming home yesterday, I wasn't paying close attention.

I wish I have Steven's optimism. Government's could still legislate powering down. See Netherland's attack on Nitrogen based fertilizer and farming. That is also justified by reducing carbon emissions.

Whenever these morons glue themselves to something and thereby choose to render themselves defenseless, I would so love it if someone took that opportunity to beat the ever loving piss out of them.

And yet only outlets like the Daily Caller report on this. If this guy had testified that a bank told him to tweet out something like "Marriage is between one man and one woman" or "there are only two genders," it would be on the front page of the New York Times.

This does not surprise me in the least. I work for one of these big banks and it wasn't 30 minutes after the recent vote on gay marriage that our corporate communications dept sent out an internal "yeah" email. We are totally captured by the woke. The reality is that most of the big banks are, and they are just slow-rolling the extent of the liberal capture. They are just revealing their stripes an inch at a time to avoid massive blowback. The population is the frog in a pot of boiling liberal water. They are cooking us in a pot of liberal agenda one degree at a time in the hopes that they can change our social values without most even realizing it is happening.

This is where the GOP has been outplayed so consistently over the last 30 years. We have been way too focused on tax policy to the detriment of actual conservative values.

The 3rd world is burning more coal with the 1st world is moving to unreliable, expensive electricity. We must fight to get back to using reliable sources and developing things like nuclear.

I don't think the problem has been too much focus on tax policy as much as it has been rhetorical sloppiness and poor advocacy skills. We don't know what to fight over and how to fight on social issues. We're very good at making ourselves look stupid and assholic, and we concede or simply don't notice a lot of rhetorical points.

For example, we relied a lot on the "yuck factor" and the general perception that homosexuality was gross to keep the sexual agenda at bay. When the big thing people saw or heard about with gays was orgies at bathhouses and parades with almost naked dudes whipping each other, that was enough. However, the strategy toward normalisation changed. Gays were portrayed basically as an regular people and didn't seem "gross." That weakened the yuck factor. Then political discourse shifted to talking about homosexuality as an identity rather than a course of conduct, which made it easier to frame anyone opposed to the agenda as "discriminatory" and therefore bad and hateful. Most social conservatives never saw that coming and didn't know how to deal with it. In fact, they largely just glossed over it. That failure cost us more than anything, and they're now trying it on the trans crap.

I am an unapologetic broken record. The way to frame these issues properly is with natural law. You appeal to objective standards and designed purpose of things. Getting people to agree is always the hard part but natural law is the answer, I think.
