    Great post Dion.

Besides being the best BADASS RB since Ricky (yes, with due respect to Cedric / Jammal), this kid is a class act, a leader (even tho he does not know it), a better person off the field and a GREAT representative of THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS!!! :hookem::hookem::hookem:

Defense in the end, even with Baylor extending drives via 4th down conversions 4 times, held the Bears under 300 yards. Allowed no drives for points after halftime. They were on the field for the 2xp, and they were lucky the BU kicker whiffed the short FG, but even so, that's a solid A to A+ defense after the break.

You have to remember even though Ewers is a redshirt freshman he missed his senior year of HS. If you think that he sucks you have to understand his lack of experience is the problem, not lack of talent.

I'm torn on this. Everything you say makes total sense. I've said it myself on here. But it still seems at times that something is missing. Hopefully I'm completely wrong on this come next year.

And what he heard and felt today had nothing to do with money. You can't buy what the fans did for him after the game. He was loved.

I understand BUT I have see freshman QB's even this year with no experience and much less pedigree do much better than what we have seen with him

They all played their senior year in HS though. Ewers has less experience than your average freshman. We have to give him time to develop. If he's a flop we will have to use other options.

What you armchair coaches fail to understand is that every call you make from your la-z-boy isnt always gonna work either. You give yourselves way too much credit.

We know. But Ewers was struggling. The pass blocking was struggling.

He completed 75% of his passes with 0 ints. What the hell do you want? I suppose DLs running free at him is his fault?

There are lies, damn lies and statistics. I'm not confident in him at all. It's just a feeling I have. We won the game when Sark abandoned throwing the ball. Now of course, the pass rush had something to do with it but that same line was dominant in the run game and Baylor knew they weren't going to pass the ball.

This is what people say when the numbers dont back up their diatribe. Im not saying QE is the greatest thing since free beer, but a lot of the criticism being levied at him about this game today are just flat wrong IMO.

the beef about Ewers is more than just today's game. It's a collection of bad games. He did alright as a whole today. all he had to do is manage the game. He did tuck it an run for a td but he should make that play. he was untouched. the underlying reason for him getting slammed is that Sark shouldn'tbe playing him anyway.

maybe next year the light bulb will have turned on and he will be more of a bonafied asset instead of a liability.

  14. George Bailey

George Bailey No beans in my chili, thank you

I'm not ready to give up on Ewers yet. I'm willing to wait for his experience to catch up to his talent. Hopefully Arch has the patience to sit behind him and learn. Win-win for us. And a lot of what happened today wasn't his fault. The fumble return for 6 was on #92's half-assed effort.

You misspelled Jamaal, I think. Cedric was a great mudder, tough as nails, and about #6 or 7 on my list of all time backs at UT.

    1 Ricky
    2 Earl
    3 Jamaal
4 Bijan (with a bullet if he stays)
    5 Leaks
    6/7 Ced
    6/7 Saxton, et al

In other words, I know more about it than our head coach.

Karic blew one big pass block today, but he seemed to make a noticeable positive difference in our run game--blocking on the edge of the line as an oversized TE.

Well done overall. And good use of personnel by the coaches.

Ummmm. This season has had a lot of very poor pass coverage and blown cover for touchdowns, failure to block pass rushers, excessive dumb penalties by “O” linemen, very good and then very bad play selection by coaches, dropped passes by receivers and a couple of missed critical field goals. Did I miss anything?

Yet they have 8 wins with a nineteen year old quarterback who is the poster boy for all that is wrong with his team.

Wow. That is seriously unfair. Im tired of arguing with you fb geniuses. QE is gonna be the starting QB next year no matter what yall think so you just need to find a way to live with that.

To the Ewers haters go compare Ewers' passer rating to the other vaunted QBs in Texas' past in regards to their freshman year. You'll be surprised.

    :coolnana:

Needless to say Ewers' passer rating is about identical to theirs except for Colt McCoy. When you consider that Ewers is not playing with the O-line or WR depth of the teams of the 2000s he's not doing that bad.

My problem with with Ewers this that he just looks careless. Which has been a thing all year. Even in the ou game he made a careless unforced error throwing the ball away, backwards, for a fumble. Ie the safety today. Not taking care of the ball when he’s under pressure. It’s like he is due for a few of those every game.

Perhaps this is part of why I doubt him. He and his dad thought he’d be in the nfl next year. But we’re they wrong. It almost looks to me like he expects the game to come easy. Then Talking **** to his OL like his own **** doesn’t stink.
Does he have the humility to get better?

The procedure calls were the ones that drove me nuts. We were at home. How on earth do you have that many procedure calls at home in week 12? Ewers almost bailed us out of 2 of them and then JWhit fumbled. Beautiful pass on 1st and 20 though. Ewers problem is he's just not mobile. Usually he won't take the sack, but I think after the safety he was just trying to make sure he didn't take another grounding call and held the ball a second too long. If we can't pass block better than today Card should play.

You might have missed my point. My post was in defense of Ewers and an attempt at satire on those putting too much of what is wrong on him.

^^^This. Defense held BU offense to 17points today. They played tough.
Our offense was responsible for 10 of Baylor’s points. Let that sink in. That’s a lot.
